  1. It's a common occurrence for stores to eventually disappear, be consumed by others or be renamed. This has been a problem ever since supermarkets started seeing huge sales numbers. Smaller stores like the CO-OP, which used to be big, are now being taken over. For example, Sainsbury's purchase of Argos removed a giant high street store. There's nothing wrong with buying online, but the issue is more down to stores not adapting, staffing correctly or making the most of sales. British Home Stores fell because the person who took it over just wanted to asset strip it.
  2. It was a good interview by Charlie. He got some good information across and it’s nice to see McGoldrick’s passion for Notts County. He’s had a very good career, so I hope he gets the ending to it that he desires and deserves.
  3. It all sounds promising. There seems to be a keeper within Aidan Stone; it’s just a case of getting it out of him.
  4. The more I read about Dan Crowley, the more I feel we have signed a very good replacement for Ruben Rodrigues. He just sounds quality. I hope he doesn’t disappoint on the pitch but proves himself to be a fan favourite.
  5. Interesting comments by Dan Crowley. I think his decision to move shows he’s committed as a player. You don’t step down when expecting children if you’re not sure about the decision. The comments about being his own player are fair; Notts has a habit of pigeonholing people. All those managers said to be the next Jimmy Sirrel, for example.
  6. Jodi Jones gets my vote. I think they’re all decent signings, but Jodi is the one who is quite easily too good for League Two. He was for the National League and look how he helped Notts there. So I think it’s safe to say that at his age, there’s room for him to come back stronger.
  7. I know when players come from a higher-up team’s academy it’s played upon, but I really do feel like this is a marquee signing. It seems like a blueprint for building a team to ensure the quality is there so that Notts is well adapted to life in League Two.
  8. All indications suggest that this is a major accomplishment for the club. As far as signings go, I am extremely impressed and believe that Dan Crowley has a lot to offer a team like ours.
  9. If his injuries weren’t persistent, he would be playing much higher. I’m surprised to see him drop back to the National League North though. He’s way better than that. Scunthorpe has made a very good signing.
  10. It doesn’t quite feel like a dream, nor does it feel like a honeymoon period where suddenly it’s going to turn to hell. It just feels like the club is back to a level playing field, with smart and sensible decisions. The club has the potential to be a big team all the way up to League One, but mismanagement has caused most of the hardship. It doesn’t feel like we will find any skeletons or earth-shattering news with our current owners. It’s almost perfect. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
  11. I have been seeing this online. I haven’t seen it yet, but it looks like a good series.
  12. As long as there’s fuel in the tank, you have the desire and ability to play. Why retire? Age is just a number and he will once again demonstrate why he has been one of our best players in the past 5 or so years. He may be at his peak, but he has matured well with age.
  13. I have followed some more members and will need to check out the forums because I use the dashboard page. Articles are useful and I will look into those too.
  14. If he has learned that money doesn’t make him happy, what are the chances of him hiring me as his personal security guard? I’ll keep those autograph hunters at bay. He really does come across as a typically nice bloke though, and you have to respect that.
  15. Jodi Jones is a pure footballer; you can see that he works on everything and that’s why I think he looks smooth doing everything. He works hard at it and he has deserved these international games.
  16. Naturally, he’s one of the players you want to see remain at the club for the longest time possible. Considering where we are now compared to when he arrived, I think those 3 years have been kind to us. We could have lost him the last time his contract was up, but he committed. Now’s the time to cut him loose and hope he does the right thing.
  17. Reading what Ruben has to say takes much of the β€œwhy Oxford United” from my mind. I don’t know what type of football they play in League One. Yet to get the best out of Ruben, they need to avoid hoofing it. He improved as our passing play did; the quicker we knocked it around on the ground, the more he stood out.
  18. I think it would be invaluable to chat with the Reedtz brothers and gain an insight into their vision for the club. One question that comes to mind is how they plan on developing the club's youth academy. With more and more top-tier clubs investing in their youth infrastructure, it would be fascinating to know if the Reedtz brothers have similar plans for Notts County. I would also be interested in learning about the potential transfer strategy for the club under their leadership. Would they focus on players with extensive experience, ready to take on the challenge of pushing Notts County towards greater heights? Or would they seek out promising young talent who could grow and evolve while under the tutelage of established, experienced players? Beyond these queries, it would be gratifying to hear about their long-term plans for the club. What kind of football would they like to instil? And how would they seek to engage and unite the community around the club? All in all, this conversation would be highly enlightening for any Notts County supporter, and we would be eager to learn about the Reedtz brothers' goals for the club.
  19. Jodi Jones is a classy player. I just hope if he does play, he doesn’t pick up an injury. I am sure he will be fine, but I do worry. Best of luck to him.
  20. It’s good to know the pre-season fixtures. I wish the club would have them all ready to be announced or, if they must, announce home and away separately instead of slowly filtering them out. It makes it seem like it’s a slow news week.
  21. I think the transition between the wing-backs and centre defenders going forward needs to be communicated better and organised beforehand. We have seen at times Connell Rawlinson as the only player in our half. I also think Kyle Cameron is quite neglectful of his defensive duties. I remember reading on here that he used to play in midfield, and it shows. When he’s committed to defending, I like him a lot. When he drifts so far up the pitch and doesn’t contribute effectively or loses the ball, which he does a lot, he leaves exploits for good players. People may blame Rawinson for being slow, but Aden Baldin and Kyle Cameron need to make sure their priorities are on defending. Attack when in control; just get back the moment you are not involved in the attack. Don’t remain up when you have little chance to get the ball. The wing-backs need to take their share of defensive duties. This was an area of real weakness; both excellent going forward but average with defending.
  22. I didn’t follow the National League much whilst Notts was in it. I would check scores when I didn’t go to games and search Google for the odd game, but I won’t be doing that now Notts aren’t in the league.
  23. Affordable season tickets are a start. The club missed a trick by not offering existing season ticket holders a slightly reduced rate. Perhaps even offering them cheaper additional tickets. Winning football games will always attract supporters, provided Luke Williams can maintain Notts as a club that will give healthy competition; it will attract young fans. Yet, I think it’s more important to reward loyalty in an age where companies neglect their die-hard customers.
  24. Mecca is a top, top bloke! He's very down to earth and you can see he's a grafter who enjoys the rewards of his hard work. He's had a sensational start to his Notts career, I hope this keeps in his mind when if comes other clubs promising him the earth. It's what you're gifted, not what you take that makes you a success. I believe in Macca!
  25. We can compare ourselves to some of the teams that have find better, whilst anything can go wrong within a season. I don't feel it's likely with Notts, as the fans, club, staff and players are all pulling in the same direction.
