  1. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, but back the boys and make sure we lift them when it’s needed, regardless of whether they are performing well or not as we have been doing so far. I am delighted to see us go top, I know there’s a lot of work required to maintain it, but I believe we are capable if we play like we have been doing to secure an automatic promotion place. Notts just needs to keep working together as a team, and hopefully, the clean sheets will follow.
  2. Notts looked like they had everything required to get the result, keeping Accrington silent until we actually took the lead. They started pressing and I thought Notts just relaxed when they should have gone for a second. It made the first 45 minutes quite nervous as they did grow into the game very well. In the second half, we re-took control of the game and controlled it well. Despite Accrington having chances, they weren’t that well taken and the way we played it always looked likely that Macaulay Langstaff would get a goal. Sam Austin could have had a decent effort on goal if he had remained on the same wavelength as Jodi Jones. I am incredibly proud of the win, it’s good to be top of League Two. There’s a long way to go, but we are finding form and growing with confidence.
  3. Superb win for Notts today, I thought we dug deep when they levelled the game and showed some excellent quality to get back into the game. The second half was very lively, but Notts did enough to get the win which was fully deserved. I am incredibly proud of the way the team played.
  4. Middlesbrough 2-0 QPR Plymouth Argyle 0-1 Blackburn Rovers Bolton Wanderers 0-1 Derby County Northampton Town 1-1 Wycombe Wanderers Morecambe 0-2 Salford City Joker Newport County 0-0 AFC Wimbledon Maidenhead United 2-1 Woking Rochdale 1-1 Halifax Town
  5. Luke Williams is just a brilliant talker; whatever he says, it just makes me take note, and that’s a powerful thing for Notts. It’s good to see him speaking so openly as he always does. I am pleased with how we are doing; I thought we would get the performances where they needed to be, and this goes down to all the work involved: players, coaches and manager.
  6. This doesn’t mean much, although it’s interesting. Clearly, it’s a style that works for Notts. What would be interesting would be comparing this to last season. That would give a good insight, but provided we are doing well, I simply don’t care.
  7. Yes, I think so. I don’t think your point is about being negative, but more about dwelling on mistakes. I heard some daft comments, albeit acceptable ones, about Dan Crowley. I think if people can’t get over incidents, then it falls into this category. They are being too critical, and I would imagine it does impact the fun of just experiencing a good time. I hate when Foghorn Leghorns shout nonsense and judge everything as if they were either playing or the manager. I would much rather sit in a quiet area without any atmosphere. Everyone from time to time will be critical to a degree; I think it’s about perspective and balance. If Notts are doing well, the players put in their duties and give 100%, then it’s not the worst thing to let things go.
  8. It very well might be a tough game and one that may be decided by a single goal, but if Notts plays the pretty attacking football we have seen lately, then I see no reason why Notts couldn’t score a few and impress. However, this does depend on how we cope with and handle them as a threat. I do think it’s a game that will showcase where we are right now, something to reflect on further once we are 10 games into the season. I would like to see Macaulay Langstaff score. I think Luke Williams is trying to take the pressure and criticism off him for not scoring by saying he brings more to the team. It’s true; he’s not just a goal scorer.
  9. I wonder what would be said if the author of the article were to ask locals in Wrexham and multiple people about that. Wrexham haven’t started so well, but their fans will be glad to be back in the Football League. I can’t see them being embarrassed or disappointed; most interviews I have seen praise their Hollywood owners and understand that they are trying.
  10. Hello, @Terri. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham. Its good to have you wish us.
  11. Hello, welcome to PON @Corinthian88. Join in, tell us something about yourself and enjoy the content.
  12. The exciting aspect for me right now is to gain promotion from League Two, seeing how the performances have improved and how the squad is working hard to put points on the table. Gaining promotion this season would be a huge success for Notts, but I am mindful, as others have said, that it will take time to get any higher. I don’t think it’s pressure that the club needs right now, but it’s fair of Luke Williams to make the comparison. He knows that it’s possible but is focused on the present and not the future.
  13. It is admirable that Connell Rawlinson has publicly praised Luke Williams. Rawlinson’s comments about pushing players to their limits in order to help them reach their true potential are insightful and show a deep understanding of what it takes to succeed in football. It is important to note that there is no age limit to this process, and it is heartening to see such comments being made. Rawlinson’s timing was impeccable when he scored the goal, and the eruption of the crowd and the ensuing celebration were truly gratifying to witness. It is moments like these that make football such a beloved sport.
  14. I wasn’t expecting anyone to come in, but if it’s true regarding the two failed bids for the centre-back from the Irish league, then it would seem the club is at work attempting to bring in at least one player. It wouldn’t surprise me if the club does sign a couple, taking a gamble on two younger options to help cover the injuries we have.
  15. It’s pleasing to know Jodi Jones will be on international duty. I am happy for him that he has been selected by Malta. I hope he does well and enjoys his change of scenery.
  16. York City always looked certain to be one of the teams that would struggle. If I were their chairman, I would have given the manager longer and put my faith in his ability to keep the club clear of relegation eventually.
  17. How many offers can Notts put in before the answer always seems to be no? If we go back in with a third offer, it might be time to call it a day unless something significantly changes.
  18. Brilliant artwork, very stunning and detailed.
  19. Yes, it didn’t look good, but it was positive that he at least walked off. Until we know for sure, it’s hard to say what kind of loss it will be, but ideally, it wouldn’t be long. He is a good piece of the jigsaw that makes Luke Williams’ tactics work. He could easily be starting more than he doesn’t, so it’s a shame for him due to that.
  20. It’s high time that everyone moves on from this issue, as there are numerous causes and initiatives that are productive and can bring about positive change. If anything, taking the knee has become a political gesture, which has sparked more controversy than it has promoted equality. It would be best to leave it to organisations such as Kick it Out to address these issues.
  21. Mike Dean is aware that he has made a mistake, and now he’s simply trying to deflect the guilt and responsibility. I agree that he has not accepted responsibility for his actions, as if he had, his apology would not have been so defensive in nature. He owes Chelsea Football Club and their fans the biggest apology, and now I hope he stops trying to do the media rounds and complaining about people trying to make a story out of it. Well, it seems that this is exactly what he wants.
  22. I can understand why he has been sacked - Eastleigh Football Club has had a very poor start to the season. These days, I am less shocked to see a manager leave a club; I am more surprised to see one complete a full season, and even more so if they manage to stay beyond that without achieving success.
  23. This is scaremongering of the highest order - there are plenty of options available and a wealth of experience to draw upon. Charlton Athletic Football Club will likely go for someone with experience, someone who is familiar with League One and the Championship. I doubt they will opt for an unknown or up-and-coming manager who is only in the second season of his most successful spell.
  24. It's good to have you here, so hello and welcome to PON @Sir Magpie.
