  1. One issue I have with young talent being snapped up is how often they are forced to play in a certain way, rather than being allowed to develop their potential naturally. It’s a good move for the lad, but Liverpool are developing a reputation for signing young talent and hindering their natural growth.
  2. Good spread by the Non-League paper; they still love us!
  3. It’s going to be the closest insight for us as to how we can compete in League Two; Shrewsbury is a decent team and won’t be that far from our standard. Yes, it’s still down to fitness and settling in, but if we can convincingly win this, then it could be the lift we need going into our season. It ends it off well, doesn’t it?
  4. Yes, Ian Burchnall left Notts in quite a sour way. However, we have moved on and thankfully have a better manager. I didn’t mind Neal Ardley or Ian Burchnall; both made their marks on Notts. I am pleased we no longer have a manager that looks like he’s about to be roadkill. He and Steve Cooper could make a right duo.
  5. What’s not to like about this? He’s a young lad who seems to have the ability and should work hard to get his chance to play. I see nothing to complain about; if we can make use of his ability to play in multiple positions, it will benefit the team.
  6. It’s a great team photo; the kit looks very good.
  7. Good luck, Jack. I hope he manages to find the chance to propel his career back up. It would have been nice to know a Notts lad was once again doing well for Liverpool, but that’s football.
  8. Loan them both out; Notts did right by Tiernan Brooks, and hopefully, these two will follow by joining two decent clubs for their own experience.
  9. It feels like a summer spending spree around here, welcome to you all! Do say hello if you see this.
  10. It sounds like this loan is the start of the young player’s journey into football. Wolves offering him a 5-year deal suggests that they see him as a future prospect. I don’t think they would offer such a lengthy contract to someone they didn’t believe could break into their first team. So, this appears to be quite a coup, even though it’s only a season-long loan. I’m delighted with the addition, as it provides us with some much-needed energy in defence and further cover. I’m very pleased with it!
  11. You can sense McGoldrick's sincere commitment to the team and sport in his comments. His willingness to continuously learn even at this stage of his career is both surprising and admirable. It's not about just the physical work and scoring goals, but also about enhancing the mind and technical abilities. His focus on passing, for instance, will undoubtedly boost the quality of the team's play over the season. It’s the mark of a true pro!
  12. With all due respect to the previous three fan stories, this is by far my favourite because it explains why we have @super_ram on board here, other than him being Chris’s father. I don’t mean this to be taken as if he shouldn’t be here; in fact, I enjoy reading his comments and only wish he would post more at times. It’s not your standard Notts fan story; it’s much more than that, and it’s very nice to read about how he came to like Notts. I always felt we shared a special friendship with Derby, but this goes beyond that too. Thank you for sharing it.
  13. For me, it’s a bit strange. I think Barnsley might be a risky move for any player at the moment. It depends on how the EFL handles their charges, but for a young striker, you want stability and a level of certainty. These are all things that they can’t offer right now, in my opinion.
  14. In my opinion, Cisse is by far the most exciting one out of them all. However, we need to be mindful that they are still learning and improving all the time. We shouldn’t put expectations or pressure on a young player’s career. It’s an interesting debate for sure, but I do want to echo these sentiments.
  15. I wonder if Jim knew that David McGoldrick would strike the ball into the back of the net. After his pass, McGoldrick rode the challenge from the Alfreton Town player. O’Brien just became a spectator and watched the ball fly. It was one of those moments when it looked like someone knew greatness was about to happen. It was a stunning finish!
  16. McGoldrick’s ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations is truly impressive. Instead of allowing missed opportunities to affect his confidence, he maintains a positive attitude and continues to focus on finding the back of the net. This level of mental resilience is admirable and sets a great example for others to follow.
  17. It’s not good to see another English club in trouble. That’s why I feel we need to do more to encourage UK-based owners in football. I think overseas owners are too risky. It’s not about ambition; it’s more about wanting the promise of the riches that higher-up teams can get. Best of luck to Reading.
  18. I’m a season ticket holder too, but we should hopefully get 10-11k for the Grimsby game, if not a few thousand more.
  19. You may be in luck, @Ohh Tommy Johnson. Most fans will be travelling by coach, and I can foresee tickets being available. We should sell out the allocated amount, but it’s not a game for which I see the demand being so high that it won’t be sold on general sale.
  20. Rest in peace, Travor Francis.
  21. Hello, @Steveyward. Welcome to PON!
  22. Hello @George L. Welcome to PON! Your grandfather is quite the chatterbox, don't feel the need to compete but it's lovely to have you here.
  23. The comment about Tobi Adebayo-Rowling being charged up on the bus on the way to games is a wonderful example of the fantastic team spirit that exists within the group. This is the kind of team that younger fans will undoubtedly want to support! It’s incredibly positive to see that the squad is dedicated to intense training and maintaining a high level of focus in their match preparation, while also being able to unwind and share some laughs together.
  24. Hello, welcome to the PON site @JustLikeJuve. This is a good place to discuss Notts.
  25. Alfreton were terrible last season, but I think this time around they will be more structured and able to give Notts a better game. It wouldn’t surprise me if they try to park the bus and counter when Notts don’t have the ball. This time around, it should be a better standard of friendly, as they have made some good signings and now have a less aged squad.
