  1. I wonder what Mr Trew meant by having his own views on where the problems lie. However he certainly made his feelings perfectly clear about what he expects from anyone connected with Notts and rightly so.I think it also further shows his commitment to the club.
  2. Notts need to copy a certain unmentionable teams recent form.A good strong end to the season would be most welcome whatever happens league positionwise.
  3. Thanks Liam,much appreciated.
  4. It's not always easy to put down in words what is in your head without appearing biased , over critical or even just silly. Thankfully this site has really good contributors giving their opinions as they see things. The spelling, grammar etc. doesn't really matter as long as a point a put over without being abusive or offensive.
  5. I've said before how much I like this site.I'm a Rams fan with strong Notts connections(family and exworkmates)and enjoy reading all the posts here which are always constructive, informative and friendly. It's nice to read how other fans feel about their teams exploits, how we all experience the ups and downs throughout a season whatever team we support. I think it would be even better if fans from a few other clubs joined us and made this not only a NOTTS COUNTY site but a true football community site, with an exchange of opinions and good humoured banter. Any thoughts from other members?
  6. Yes,Joe I refuse to be intimidated, though I thought I was quite reserved.I didn't like the result either. I also attended a friendly v Florist about 1967.As I was working in Nottingham I went to a pub with a honest Forest fan and his mate before walking with them to the ground with the intention of meeting up with my mates.Unfortunately my mates arrived later than intended and I entered the sh*tty ground on my own,not wishing to miss any of the match. On emerging to the terraces I found myself in the Trent End surrounded entirely by Forest fans.Whoops! So there I was ,standing perfectly silent, keeping myself to myself. It was a good match,Forest being in the top flight and The Rams in the old second division on there way up during Brian Cloughs early years at Derby.I say perfectly silent-Derby scored and I couldn't help myself.Fortunately there were quite a few Rams fans in a similar situation to myself and the police quickly stepped in and herded us together away from the baying forest fans.Derby won and the following day at work was very funny as most forest fans had been predicting a big defeat for The Rams.Silence is golden.Well the forest fans were silent but myself and my immediate boss(a very ardent Notts season ticket holder)had a great time.Happy days!
  7. A very good article.Much improved performances are needed to raise fans hopes for next season.
  8. Glad to see some recognition for the effort put into this site, I just wish viewers would take the plunge and join us on a regular basis, whoever they support.
  9. A successful youth academy is vital to any football club especially when money is tight. At Derby we have had several lads come through to the first team and also represent their countries at youth level.Hopefully they will go on to greater things with the Rams. Good luck to Notts with your youths and best wishes for the future to Hayden.Another great post-Keep them coming!
  10. I wonder what the' plans that are being put in place ahead of next season' are that Mr. Trew refers to- Manager?Lee Hughes replacement? My condolences to the Sharpe family.
  11. The match sounded just the same on the radio.Notts seem short on ideas and with no purpose to their play. It's all very disheartening for Notts fans to be so near the playoffs most of the season and and your team just appear to 'throw in the towel' Thanks for a good write up again Joe.
  12. Thoughtful,informative,well constructed replies.Thanks to all concerned.
  13. Glad your contributions to this site were read and appreciated by the players concerned,Joe.It makes your efforts all the more worthwhile. You must feel really chuffed.I'm really pleased for all Connected here.
  14. The footballing education of an old man continues.Superb article, thanks Joe.
  15. Thanks for sharing your experience and giving us your view of the game.
  16. Good write up again,Joe.It sounds like a fair result, though not what either side wanted.Playoff place almost out of reach but not quite all over yet and agree with Notts-joe.
  17. Nice ,thoughtful writeup. All I will add is that Notts owe you fans a decent performance and playing away from home the expectancy level will be lower.Still all to play for.Come on both county teams.

    PoN on One - #1

In spite of 1st question(agree SteveMUP)a great idea.Full marks as far as I'm concerned to 2pies and Dan and of course your cheeky self.Looking forward to more.
  19. When I took your brother to see Derby I was a season ticket holder .My mate Dave(Pete's brother-do you remember him)had s brother-in law,Derek, who received 2 concessionary free tickets from Derby as he was unemployed due to illness.Anyway Derek became too ill to attend but offered them to me.The plan was that I would lend Dave my ticket so he could take and sit with his son,Martin and I would take you or William.(the free tickets were in a different part of the gound)As you were only 3 at the time I was reluctant to take you to a match when 20000 plus gates were the norm and fan hooliganism was still common then.I think I took William to 1 night match(v Leeds) and 2 Saturday games(v Southampton and v Liverpool)I was lining a match up to take you to but sadly Derek died suddenly,so no tickets and no game for you. That was the last season I had a season ticket as we bought our current house in the close season and other priorities took over from football.
  20. Your Grandad WOULD have been proud of you and we all miss him.
  21. Sometimes you have to grind out a result, seems like today was one of them days.A win is a win is a win.Still all to play for,
  22. Sounds like Dave isn't impressed with the manager or the way his team is going at the moment,a bit like Notts fans a few weeks ago. I remember The Rams playing Carlisle in 1968/9 and being 3-0 down at home with about 20 minutes to go.We were pushing for promotion to the top flight under Cloughie at the time and pulled it back to 3-3.We went on to win the league.I hope Notts can push on tomorrow and get up nearer the playoffs.
  23. Oh boy, another great post .Thanks Mr Jones.Raddy was one of notts-joes Grandad's.. alltime favourites. When we used to compare notes on our respective matches Raddy was a player who was always mentioned. Thanks for the memory.
  24. As above plus very amusing in places.Re-inforces my thoughts on the game and the impression I got from the interview after the match.Very much appreciated.
  25. Exactly how I saw it,superb write up,absolutely spot on.Congratulations and thanks once again Joe.
