  1. I am thoroughly impressed by the responses to this game! The thoughtful and well-reasoned explanations are a impressive to the depth of knowledge and engagement from those participating. I'll make every effort to contribute to the discussion in a timely manner if I'm able to provide valuable input. Cheers for the insightful discussion!
  2. An impressive milestone of 5,000 league games has recently been achieved. To put this into perspective, consider that players such as Albert Ironmonger participated in a significant number of matches. I am intrigued to see if anyone can identify 11 footballers who have accumulated high appearance totals, somewhat akin to a countdown. The aim is to determine a total that can be reached exclusively by considering the appearances made by these players, through methods such as multiplication or subtraction. I'm eager to know if any mathematics enthusiasts are up for this engaging challenge. Don't hesitate to join in, if you can solve this!
  3. His performance with Coventry was impressive, and upon entering the game against Chesterfield, he exuded that same determination to contribute and help his team succeed. Naturally, the question arises whether he will continue in the same vein, and while I sincerely hope he does, it's difficult to predict. Undoubtedly, such talent would pique the interest of rival clubs as well.
  4. I recently cast my vote for the top half, although I believe reaching the playoffs might be a bit ambitious at this stage. It could potentially take a full season before the club manages to effectively compete in the quest to exit League Two. While new signings and contract renewals might have an impact, the current squad, despite being talented, could find reaching the playoffs quite challenging.
  5. Observing historical photographs of Nottingham evokes nostalgic memories of my upbringing in this vibrant city. Over the years, as I matured, a multitude of transformations occurred, altering its landscape exceedingly. When I revisited the city a few years prior, I was astonished by the extent of these changes. The bustling atmosphere seemed overwhelming for the relatively modest size of Nottingham.
  6. Selling Langstaff following the previous season would undoubtedly be a significant blunder, regardless of the potential transfer fee. Although finding a replacement for Wootton appeared challenging, the team eventually managed to overcome it. However, parting ways with their star forward after achieving promotion could lead to a disheartened squad and a highly detrimental atmosphere.
  7. It's impossible to watch 'Wembley Uncovered' without experiencing goosebumps. The video is truly remarkable from beginning to end, capturing the essence of what makes Wembley so special. One can't help but be fully immersed in the awe-inspiring atmosphere that it creates, making it an unforgettable viewing experience.
  8. I wholeheartedly support Joel Taylor's strike, as it was an astounding display of skill. The sheer brilliance of the effort is commendable, and it's no surprise that it garnered well-deserved praise. I'm thrilled to see such phenomenal talent showcased in this context, and I eagerly await more extraordinary achievements in the future.
  9. Why was Tony, the international man of mystery, always the life of the party in London? Because, @Fan of Big Tone had a "licence to thrill" and his humour was always on His Majesty's Secret Service!
  10. I truly cannot express my gratitude and admiration for our club owners enough, as they have consistently ensured the smooth running of Notts County with its continued success as their primary goal. It is unfortunate that I haven't had the chance to convey my appreciation face-to-face. However, their preference to not engage in social media or engage in online forums reflects their focus on what truly matters – steering our club towards greater heights.
  11. It's great to be back, and from now on, let's concentrate on sharing posts and enjoying a good laugh together. Honestly, the majority of the comments I've seen have been fantastic, and none have prompted me to question them. You can count on my respect, as well as that of others in our lively community.
  12. Unfortunately, I became unwell with chest pains and was taken back to the hospital where I had been since my last visit until late Saturday. I was told that I need to have a pacemaker put in. I think the decision to take on a home to fix up has been my undoing, but I am still feeling positive. I had no issues while working; I put my feet up and tried to settle down, but I am repeatedly in the hospital. I am not after sympathy; I am in great spirits. Let me tell you, I miss the blooming NHS for sure. The bills for hospitals are enough to give you heart trouble.
  13. It's always nice to see a new member, welcome @CountyFan2105. Don't be shy, come say hello.
  14. @yelobeli Both Coventry and Luton have shown that building a strong foundation in League Two before moving up to League One is a successful strategy. For Notts County, it's crucial to follow a similar path if they are to establish themselves as a decent League One team. However, to do that, the club needs to sell around 6-7000 season tickets, a task that seems achievable this season given the club's recent success. It's important to avoid overspending to stay in a league, as it can lead to short-term success but long-term financial issues. Instead, Notts County needs to build thoughtfully and strategically, investing in player recruitment and development, and building a strong squad that can compete year after year. If the club continues to follow this path, I have no doubt that Notts will continue to rise through the ranks of the football league.
  15. It's quite remarkable to witness how Notts has transformed over the past few seasons, and the credit goes to the hard work and dedication of its management team. Since Neal Ardley put in place strong foundations, Ian Burchnall took it further, and now Luke Williams is doing an excellent job instructing players like Adam Chicksen on how to improve their game. One of Luke Williams' standout qualities is his relationship with the players, which seems to be second to none. He's an impressive coach who is intelligent, switched on, and thinks about things carefully. Although I can't comment on his in-game management skills, his decision-making in the recent game against Chesterfield was spot-on, and it paid dividends for Notts. Overall, I think Notts is moving in the right direction, and it's great to see Williams playing such a crucial role in the team's success. With such talent on the coaching staff and players shining on the pitch, I'm confident that Notts will continue to improve and bring home more victories in the seasons to come.
  16. Although I am not familiar with Sam Pearson, after reading through the comments, it seems like he could be a promising player. With the level of recruitment that has taken place, I feel satisfied just reading through all the comments on player acquisitions. After watching the video, the young lad does remind me of Sam Osborne. It's exhilarating to know that the team has not only been active in the transfer market, but they are working hard to bring in young, talented players who can take the team to the next level.
  17. It was quite an interesting scene during that free kick, which had everyone wondering what the player was up to. It almost looked like he wanted to take a seat on the ball, and in doing so, he clumsily handed it into the net. The funny bounce that led to Ruben Rodrigues’ goal was quite embarrassing, to say the least. With such a display of ineptitude, it’s safe to say that Chesterfield fans must have heaved a huge sigh of relief upon his exit from the club. Honestly speaking, why anyone would want a player who looks like a serial killer having a bad day, wearing comedy clown gloves, and continually falling apart on the pitch is beyond me. It's almost painful to watch, and I can’t help but feel sorry for Scunthorpe!
  18. It’s great to have you back, @Fan of Big Tone! The world seemed somewhat incomplete without you. Your contributions were missed, and we are all thrilled to know that everything is okay now. When I first joined, I had found your perspectives captivating, and your character intriguing. The mystery behind your persona was incredibly captivating, and that unforgettable episode of Meet the Fans that you did was a classic PON moment that still resonates. Your return is a breath of fresh air, and we look forward to hearing more from you soon. Welcome back!
  19. Ryan Reynolds, the Hollywood actor from the States, has been garnering a lot of attention recently for his kind and generous nature. His deeds have made their way across the Atlantic to the UK and particularly in Nottinghamshire. The news of his benevolence has even reached the footballing world and is helping to put Notts on the map for many. In fact, it has been reported that a couple of neighbours have been converted from their allegiance to Spurs and Palace and now follow the beloved Notts team. It is clear that Ryan Reynolds is a fan of Notts in secret and who could blame him? With so much passion and support, it's hard not to fall in love with the team. Additionally, with the upcoming season, fans are excited, and the opportunity to get a Notts shirt with Ryan Reynold's name on the back is thrilling. I am one of the many fans who will be purchasing eight shirts, and with so many possible choices for names, it’s going to be tough!
  20. A very happy belated birthday to you @Chris! It's important to take time to celebrate and treat ourselves, especially on our special day. I hope you were able to have a good day, filled with love, joy and happiness. You deserve nothing less than the best and I wish you all the wonderful things in life. Here's to another year of adventure and growth!
  21. I understand the disappointment that some may feel regarding the Nottingham City council, but as someone who is overseas, it's difficult for me to be affected in the same way. When I lived in the UK, I personally never rated the Nottingham City council, which is why I chose to live in other areas such as Derbyshire. It's understandable that some may feel more affected by this news, but it's important to remember that there are other options and places to live outside of Nottingham. Hopefully, the council will take the necessary steps to improve and meet the needs of its residents.
  22. @KB1862, these notes from your children are absolutely heartwarming. You have clearly raised very caring children who adore their father. It's wonderful to see such a strong bond between parent and child, and these notes are something truly special. They should be cherished and kept safe for the future, as a reminder of the love and appreciation your children have for you. Thank you for sharing this beautiful moment with us - it's one of the nicest things I've seen.
  23. Congratulations @Piethagoram, you fully deserve it! The amount of content you start and the thoughtful contributions you make to discussions make you one of the best on the site. I want to thank you for all your effort and dedication in creating engaging conversations and helping to build a supportive community. This recognition is well deserved, and I hope it encourages you to keep up the great work. Cheers to you, and here's to many more insightful conversations in the future!
  24. If Notts County were considering letting go of their manager to Reading, the only reason I can see would be if the club had their eyes on someone else and wanted to collect a compensation fee. However, it's clear that the board has realised they've found a real gem in their current manager. With a few more years of experience and another promotion under his belt, he could be exactly the type of leader the team has been missing since the 70s and 80s. The hope is that if Notts County can retain him, he can help take the team to a new level and make them a competitive force in the Championship. This is an exciting time for fans of the club, and it will be interesting to see how things develop in the coming months and years.
  25. The scenes of coming home after a big win are truly unforgettable. It's amazing to see the way that players and fans come together in celebration, and it's moments like this that can really help to build a strong bond between the club and its supporters. If clubs want to get their fans on board and drum up excitement about upcoming games, then moments like these are absolutely the way forward. There's something magical about seeing players and fans alike so overjoyed and united in their passion for the game, and it's hard not to feel inspired and uplifted by it all. I hope that we'll see many more moments like this in the future, and that they continue to remind us all of the magic and camaraderie that football can bring to our lives.
