  1. It could be a miserable day for fans. If Notts do well, the doubters and constant fault-finders will be upset that they have to wait to continue moaning about the club. If the club doesn’t do well, they will be out in force. If we draw, it won’t please most, even if it is a good match. I think we should all be hoping for the best. Tranmere wasn’t that good last season, and with the improvements Notts has made, we should be better. It all depends on how well their new players fit in.
  2. Swindon’s owner, Clem Morfuni, seems very dedicated to improving the club. Increasing the budget has allowed some impressive signings like Grant Hall and Will Wright, both strong defenders. Injuries have been a problem for Hall, but if he stays fit, he could be among the best in the league. Their new wing-backs, Longelo and Sobowale, bring some young energy to the team, and Harry Smith offers a different attacking option with his height and presence in the box. Despite all these positives, the tension between fans and the board is worrying. Success on the pitch often depends on harmony off it.
  3. MK Dons’ attacking depth looks formidable this season. Despite losing their top scorer Max Dean, the arrival of Callum Hendry offers hope. Competition between Hendry, Harrison, and Dennis should ensure no shortage of goals. The midfield creativity from the likes of Connor Lemonheigh-Evans, Tommy Leigh, and Alex Gilbey is top-notch. With such talent behind the strikers, they should break down defences easily. However, defensive frailties cost them dearly last season. New signings Sherring and Offord must step up. Williamson's possession-based style is attractive but needs to be backed by a solid defence. If they get it right, they are obvious favourites. But caution is needed; overconfidence could be their undoing.
  4. Happy to see Scott bounce back from his injury. His determination and readiness for the new season are promising. It's also great to see him stepping into the number 9 role. His resilience after that injury is commendable!
  5. Welcome to Meadow Lane, Carter Foxe. It’s wonderful to see another young player sign their first professional contract.
  6. It’s beneficial when the club releases videos like this, providing an opportunity to learn more about Ryley Reynolds. He appears to be a highly promising player, and I hope he demonstrates a strong enough character to push for more game time. The same goes for all the younger and fringe players. Competition is the best way to achieve good form.
  7. I’ll be keeping a close eye on the updates, keen to see how things progress and which players excel. This should be the time when the starting eleven begins to take shape, and hopefully, we’ll witness that. For those heading to York, I hope the weather is pleasant and you enjoy the friendly match.
  8. I heard a while back that Walsall and Swindon Town were showing interest in him, as reported by local newspapers. I’m not sure how serious or genuine those interests were, but I would have thought he’d have been signed by now. He’s a talented player, but it’s unfortunate that if we were to be promoted, he would be quite far down the pecking order in the squad. If he stayed to play this season, his opportunities would likely be limited.
  9. I don’t expect Notts to win every friendly match, especially ones like this where the home team has the advantage of familiarity. We essentially have two squads for each half of the game, plus substitutes who come on to see how they perform. I haven’t seen any indication of trialists playing in the game.
  10. As a season ticket holder, I have friends who casually support Notts who might consider this offer. They usually attend when the weather is pleasant or when the team is performing well. It’s more of a social event for them. This is definitely something casual fans should think about.
  11. Hello, welcome to the PON site and community. You will be made very welcome @Mark Holland.
  12. Hello, welcome to the PON site and community. You will be made very welcome @jake008.
  13. Well said in the message. It’s high time that England excelled in major tournaments.
  14. He seems promising. I believe that having a balanced set of centre backs is beneficial, and it’s even better that he can also play in wider positions. From a defensive standpoint, this is the kind of signing you want when you’ve already brought on board three very competent centre backs. Alex Kirk could turn out to be an excellent acquisition.
  15. He did nothing to establish a connection with the fans or the club, nor did he strive to perform well enough to secure a place in the squad. His signing was quite wasteful, as his playing time could have been allocated to a player from the youth team instead.
  16. Brinds is a good player. I believe Eastleigh will provide him with a platform to advance his career. He could make a return to the EFL; he deserves to play league football.
  17. I’m all set for the England game tonight. I’m not expecting a strong performance, but we need to be defensively solid. The Netherlands has some talented attacking players who will punish us if we give them space. However, we could cause them problems defensively.
  18. Wycombe will likely approach the game in the same way we will, so there might not be much to take from the friendly. As fans, we don’t need to pay too much attention, just keep an eye on the trialists and see how they perform. There are a few who, if they perform well against Wycombe, might be offered a contract.
  19. It’s frustrating to see some people already calling for Stuart Maynard’s dismissal over a friendly match. I doubt many of those criticising actually attended the game. Even if they did, I don’t think they understand the purpose of these pre-season games. Worryingly, I suspect they will continue their criticism into the season, regardless of his performance. It’s starting to feel personal, but the friendly was a good exercise for Notts.
  20. He had the option to stay and potentially continue as captain or be demoted to vice-captain. The vice-captain doesn’t necessarily have to start games, but the club’s decision to let him go suggests they were content to part ways. I had a liking for Kyle Cameron and believed he could have performed better with a stable back three. I had similar feelings about Aden Baldwin.

  24. I hope by now you have settled into PON, welcome from me @Morten Johansen.
  25. It’s truly tragic what happened to Tommy Lawton in his later years. However, his footballing accomplishments and earlier life weren’t all bad. It’s just heart-wrenching that he passed away without any family around.
