  1. Lovely morning here. Happy St George's day to all.
  2. Two games to go, possibly 5. I would play Whittaker & Jarvis from the start every match. Jones is not fully fit so he would be on the bench. Jarvis can be a real handful for opponents so he has to start before Jones until Jodi is fully fit. For me there is also a question mark about Palmer in the starting eleven. I don't think he's the same player since he came back from injury. I would be inclined to play Hinchy & Abbott together in midfield & have Palmer on the bench. Notts have to go for the win on Saturday, as I believe one win will be enough to secure a playoff spot.
  3. Nice to see that Bayer Leverkusen have had a good a good season once again. They should finish as runners up & qualify for the Champions League once again. And they've only lost two games. I thought that they would lose a lot of their best players to much bigger European clubs after last years exploits.
  4. The poll has now closed. Thanks to all who voted. It was a close poll, however David McGoldrick has been chosen as the Pride of Nottingham's Man of the Match v Cheltenham. Well done David.
  5. @DangerousSausage I know that Eastwood as does Long Eaton, have a Nottingham postcode. Eastwood CFC made the playoffs along with AFC Mansfield. Eastwood could meet AFC Mansfield in the final if they both win their semi finals
  6. Your 4cast for Wednesday
  7. I think one win for Notts might be enough for Notts to secure a playoff place on Saturday. I know that our record against Harrogate at their ground isn't great, but I'm more confident that Notts can get a result away rather than at home at the moment.
  8. I don't understand how Slocombe was picked before Miller but as soon as Bass returns Slocombe becomes number three behind Miller. Some of the decisions do seem a bit bizarre.
  9. Since their return to league 2, I don't think that, especially at home, Notts have solved the way to play against sides that press us hard at home, & are just happy to let Notts have possession & force Notts to break them down. Every single side that visits ML more or less play the same way against us, & Notts are just so predictable in the way they play these sides too. It is clear that Notts plan A is not working but there is not a plan B. Whether the way Notts keep playing is directed by the owners or not, in my opinion, I would make changes. Take the side across the river, they've seen lots of success this season by soaking up pressure & hitting sides on the break with pace. Why can't Notts do that? Surely it's worth a try when plan A is not working. We have a brilliant defence & strong defensive midfield. Why not try the Forest approach? Opposing sides would be very uncomfortable if Notts conceded possession & waited for them to make a mistake for a change.
  10. I think it would be the height of stupidity to make a short term appointment for the last 2 games & maybe 3 further games in the playoffs. 44 games have gone by & credit has to be given to Stuart for getting Notts into this position. It's not the time for the owners to panic.
  11. Decent start to the day here with plenty of sunshine. It has clouded over now & the forecast is showers into the evening. After the initial disappointment at the loss yesterday, I believe we can still hope Forza playoff place comes the season's end. Our playoff future is still in our hands & & there is still much to play for. Once in the playoffs a team can win promotion without winning any of the three matches they would be scheduled to play in regulation time.
  12. AFC Mansfield, my local club, has made the United Counties Premier Division ( tier9) playoffs. They have an opportunity to be promoted to the Northern Premier League First Division Midlands (tier8)
  13. We have three Notts teams from the North of the County that have made the United Counties Division 1 playoffs. Step 10 of the football pyramid. They all have an opportunity to be promoted to the United Counties Premier Division, (step 9) Retford FC, Retford United & Clipstone FC
  14. Worksop Town have secured 2nd place to Macclesfield in the Northern Premier League Premier Division, & have an excellent chance of being promoted to National League North via the playoffs. Northern Premier League, Premier Division, top five with one game to play. (Top five positions secured) Playoffs. 2nd plays fifth & third plays fourth. Winners from the semi finals play at the highest rated team's home ground in the final.
  15. Weather 4cast for Tuesday.
  16. @Chris I searched for a connection but only found this. The search results indicate several connections between Draper & Long Eaton United. Firstly, Mark Draper, a former professional footballer, was born in Long Eaton. He played for various clubs, including Leicester City, Aston Villa, and Southampton. Secondly, there's a reference to a Jamie Draper playing for Coventry Sphinx and playing against Long Eaton United. Thirdly, Danny Draper scored a goal for Wellingborough Town in a match against Long Eaton United. Source Google. Looks like there are only loose connection, but someone else may know different.
  17. Congratulations to Long Eaton United. Good luck in the playoffs.
  18. Why not just get behind the Notts team till the end of the season? Notts still have 2 more games to go in the regular season, maybe three more if they make the playoffs. The playoffs are still in Notts hands. In my opinion, criticism should be left till the season is over.
  19. Update. Update. Update.. The bad light hasn't improved so the match has been called off & declared a draw.
