  1. Andy had a big hip problem at the end of 2016 and it got worse in 2017. He had two operations the last one being resurfacing of his hip. Normally this would have been career ending, but Andy proved them all wrong. His comeback has been fraught with setbacks but he managed to get back up to the middle forties in the rankings, but he is slower than at his peak and this has not helped him. I think he'll retire after Wimbledon this year.
  2. Welcome to PON@Harry Buckley great to have you on board.
  3. At the end of the day we have player assets at the club that are pretty valuable at this time. I hope that we don't have to sell those assets, but that will always be an option if needed. I believe the brothers have the club's finances well in control anyway.
  4. I'll start you off with mine. There are so many to choose from but my favourite is "The Goodies", slapstick at its best, utterly silly and ridiculous that you could never stop laughing. Here's a flavour.
  5. Stoke City 2 Notts County 2, First Division, May 1982, featuring Trevor Christie penalty & a screamer from Pedro Richards.
  6. Some players love to play footy in the mud.
  7. Jason Lee, who played for almost everybody, well almost seemed like it. He only played two games for Stockport. Jason played 69 games for Notts and scored 16 goals from 2006/8
  8. This is very exciting news 2 new appointments to work with our Notts County Women and Girls. Ashley Eastman appointed as FDP lead U7-U11 at NCWFC Danny Gordon appointed Head of Coaching at PDP at NCWFC.
  9. Well, we are halfway through Jim's 2nd week of being Interim Head Coach, and it very much appears that he will be in charge for the Stockport match.
  10. Mine is an Android. Have had Smart phone Android since Smart phone inception. They have always served me well. Can't conceive paying more than £150 for a smart phone.
  11. Couldn't agree more. We'll put. The top six are above the law.Thats the big problem in English football at the moment.
  12. I don't think Jim is going to make any changes to the side that drew 5:5 with Grimsby unless he is forced to do so by injury. The side will probably line up in a similar formation & the style of play will not alter. Stockport do leak a few goals so I'm confident we can score a few, it's just how many we concede at the other end concerns me Personally, I believe that Notts should be more cautious this game, because Stockport is another level above Grimsby, but I'm sure that the Notts way of playing "total football" will continue. I'm hoping for a score draw here I think that will be a good result on Saturday, if the game goes ahead as there are freezing conditions around at the moment. I'm going for 2:2 result.
  13. Joe Salisbury and his partner up and running at the Australian Open.
  14. Coldest night of the Winter recorded so far. Minus 14 Degrees in Scotland. It could get even colder tonight.
  15. Very good read. I would abolish VAR except goal line technology & a check on whether a sending off is correct or not, because sending a person off changes the game. I agree about the renaming the league Back to Division 1 to 4. Parachute payments should be abolished too. Clubs should not be owned by Countries either There should be a Cap on total turnover with different levels for each of the four divisions, to even things up. Champions league to go back to the old format too. ie, Champions only.
  16. I remember the Cup run well. Really thought we would beat Wycombe but it wasn't to be, but we did come close and with a bit more luck we may have progressed further.
  17. Trouble is @True Magpie the rich clubs are allowed to spend what they like. Man City £200+ million on just two players. There are 86 teams that can't compete or ever hope to compete with the top 6. That's not right either.
  18. Sorry @NottsCountyKev can't help you with that one
  19. Some may not remember this one. Take your Pick with Michael Miles
  20. And @liampie players didn't seem to get so many injuries as they do now. I remember them playing with a leather ball too, that got about 3 to 4 times heavier in the mud and wet. It was like that from November onwards 50 years or so ago.
  21. Batten down the hatches tonight It's going to be a cold one.
