MAGnet Links - Walsall
Stuart Rimmer - striker, late 80’s from memory. Went to “Warsaw” after playing for us for a short while I believe. One of many strikers who always seemed to do well, wherever he played, but never really seemed to click here.

Who's your Man of the Match v Grimsby?
Currently on holiday - not got time to do that.🙁

Who's your Man of the Match v Grimsby?
Agreed, heard it and got 3rd party updates from folks at the game. Sounded close between Dennis and Roos to me - difficult to choose without seeing the game in this instance. Roos keeps us in it and Dennis breaks the deadlock. As I’m unable to split them, it’s a “tie” for me, so not able to cast a vote.

Fabulous stuff - the tough month of matches is going ok, so far…….

Other scores going our way now too…… MKD, Warsaw & Bromley all level.

Great stuff - let’s have this Notts! We are certainly establishing ourselves as “contenders” now. If we can overcome teams like MKD & the fishy people without Palmer, Robbo or a fully functioning Jones then we have made progress. Keep it going & keep ‘em out Notts.

Good selection - again. Solid enough team and decent bench, given the circumstances, assuming Jones is fit and confident. Good to see Hinchy back, always grafts and battles and he has a good eye for a pass. He’s one for the future, plenty of potential.

Jack Hinchy Recalled
Agreed. Talented lad, seemed to get some harsh criticism last season but he’s still young and has potential. He’s gritty, a battler but with some skill and an eye for a pass. Happy to see him back in the fold. Not a first choice selection but with Robbo & Palmer out he’s a sound cover/squad player.

Duff start! I’m in Madeira on hols, so can’t see the game. It’s going to be an uphill struggle now…… Hoping for better news when I return from dinner.

Replacing Hall v MK
Dennis should start in my view. I’d go with Macari, Grant, Robertson, Iorpenda & Tsaroulla behind Dennis & Jatta. Ness, Platt & Bedeau at the back. I somehow doubt that will be MP’s choice tbh but I believe that gives us the width, mobility, physical presence and goal threat that we need.
-
Who's your Man of the Match v Bristol R?
Roos - on the basis he won a MOTM when he did nothing to deserve. Today he did. Always rate Grant’s industry and subtlety tbh & Platt lasted the pace and did his job. Everyone grafted, but Roos for me.

Terrific win - 4th now, superb 3 points.

Hang in there Notts. Impressed with the subs tbh. MP usually keeps Jatta on and takes Grant off - shrewd move switching that around for my money.

We are in front! Great stuff.

Match Discussion: League Two - Bristol Rovers (A)
Intriguing subs, Jatta off for Dennis - no surprise but Tsaroulla off for Ness & Iorpenda for Norburn, which makes sense.

Match Discussion: League Two - Bristol Rovers (A)
Happy that Grant is still on & Tsaroulla now playing lb, like that set up for this half.

Match Discussion: League Two - Bristol Rovers (A)
Tough 45 mins coming up - whilst the point would be handy now, we can still win this. Hope M P sees it that way too.
-
Match Discussion: League Two - Bristol Rovers (A)
My worry is he’ll take Grant off and stick Norburn on early in 2nd half. Think we’ll consolidate and try to hang in for the point……..we’ll see. Hope I’m wrong.

Match Discussion: League Two - Bristol Rovers (A)
Hall off! Have to see, he often looks clumsy in the challenge due to his lethargic style. He gets caught out then lunges in, frustration seems to have got the better of him here. We are up against it now.
-
Match Discussion: League Two - Bristol Rovers (A)
Surprised that Ness has been left out - equally that MP has preferred Iorpenda over Norburn. Brizzle Rovers sound very shaky according to Stall, we need to get maximum points here. COYP.
-
Matt Palmer out "For quite a Period"
It’s bad news - we are more balanced with him in the side. Robbo is able to get further forward and he has more impact in the final 3rd when Palmer plays. Despite Iorpenda’s skills, he’s not as tidy on the ball as Palmer. Norburn hasn’t shown much apart from an occasional 10 min burst of energy & the ability “to get stuck in”/carded! Hope Palmer is able to return sooner rather later.

The hatred against Bristol Rovers began here
I thought it was due to Phil Stant’s disallowed goal in a League Cup tie from memory - must have been in the late 80’s. Had to edit that!

Who is your Man of the Match v Colchester?
Yes, agreed - fair point. I am, genuinely, interested to know why Jarvis & Bennetts impressed others in the last couple of games. I’m not seeing “end product” or creativity/imagination tbh. They fit the system and certainly possess ability, I get that. Tsaroulla & Grant were just more effective, productive & inventive for my money.
-
Who is your Man of the Match v Colchester?
Tsaroulla & Grant were head and shoulders ahead of anyone else but Robbo, Palmer both put a shift in and Ness was combative and solid again. Bennetts - really? I’d have carted him & Jatta off first, closely followed by Hall. All 3 of them were almost completely anonymous after our goal. Between them, Bedeau and Bennetts made a right horlicks of marking their 14 for the 2nd goal.
-
Match Discussion: League Two - Colchester United (A)
We took off the 2 liveliest and most creative players - that didn’t help much! Jatta was hopeless, Hall was invisible after our goal and Jarvis was completely anonymous . Didn’t get all the praise for him last week either, he can’t beat a man and just passes or runs into trouble. Reminds me of “make it go backwards” Chicksen! We messed up for their first 2 goals and Roos dived over the 3rd. They had 4 opportunities and put the ball in the net 4 times. I’d replace Jatta, Roos, Jarvis & Bennetts with players who know what they are supposed to do!
