  1. cedwyn scott and jodi jones should be able to help rod mcdonald settle at notts, he sounds like hes ready to get going and i think its a very good signing. the height in the defence now, should be we are better at dealing with set pieces and the aerial threats.
  2. i must admit i less bothered about watching england than notts, but i do like watching important games and i am hopeful they can put together a good performance. i will be watching.
  3. good player, decent turn of skill and pace. i prefer him as a striker than midfield but he has done well since leaving us.
  4. the club are probably trying to work on this, but i can see one or two going out on loan. randall and rawlinson, but i think we will be stuck with stone. they all need to be playing, rawlinson has done his job and will be remembered for all his efforts.
  5. i dont like how we seem to be pinning our hopes on luke shaw, i think its good that he was able to train but throwing him in at this stage it does seem to be rushing things. i think england will do better, but i dont expect a full 90 minutes of great play. 2-0 would be my prediction. i can see an own goal happening too, but fingers crossed england do a well enough job that things do start to improve.
  6. i think its just awful that dementia is still not fully understood but at least some changes have been made. i would not be surprised that it can lead or increase the chances of various dementia illnesses. i do agree with @Chris, suing over it is not right and i would think it can take away from a persons legacy due to the way things can take over. its just very, very sad.
  7. last time i messaged him, he mentioned that he wanted to visit his family in the uk and visit other places. he might be making the most of his retirement and health issues by taking this chance whilst he can. at least i hope so.
  8. he looks handy and tall, which should help with the aerial threats. i am pleased to see we have brought in some experience at the back because it should help the defence out.
  9. agreed @ARLukomski. he looked extremely worried for a long spell last season, like he was under pressure and whilst some fans were trying their hardest to get him sacked. i think the club did well to give him the time to learn, i think we should see improvements. its easier to make the right decisions when you are calm, where as panicking gets you nowhere.
  10. i think we all know how we would like england to play and the squad are capable, they just need to put the effort in and manage the game better. watching england has been a lot like watching notts in the spells last season when we lack energy going forward. the lack of quality and creativity is surprising.
  11. its good the club are trying different things but i hope they still offer things which are to the fussy people like myself. all this fancy food at football sort of annoys me more than seeing hipster notts fans.
  12. hello, @Up the Maggies. welcome to pon!
  13. @Fan of Big Tone he had spells when he would come on and get chances away, there was a few games after he scored where he was class. i would welcome him back. i was disappointed we let him go because his potential seemed good. i would welcome him back, but i think the club may be looking elsewhere.
  14. honestly, we are very lucky right now. we have great owners, the club is ran well with passionate staff and we have one of the best groundstaffs in the football league. they have done an amazing job, they do every season but this is just extra special.
  15. i have never heard of him but reading his wiki, hes 23 and does not have many starts to his name. hes certainly an unknown to me, but i do wish burton well. forests academy is pretty decent, so i am sure he will be capable.
  16. i think we can all see it when they have played, hope that we can start to silence the doubters and improve with stronger performances. this is a funny tweet tho.
  17. england does need to show signs of improvements come tuesday, whatever excuses are being used. focus on doing better is a must, i think its pressure and confidence, but the only way to combat that is to try to play better football. leading into the tournament england looked just fine, so i dont see why being tired is a reasonable excuse.
  18. i still dont see him being suited to wales, that is nothing against his management style but if he is to return to management. he needs to find a league team that he can build and stick around with. did he takeover mark hughes at blackburn? if i am right he did okay with them but he has never come close to repeating his success at bolton.
  19. i think its a desperate move on part of wales, they have some very good players but as a squad they are weaker than scotland. they would do better if they hired someone who knows the welsh game, someone like mark hughes or tony pullis. i think most would identify gareth southgate as being the better coach, he falls short in the manager department but as a coach he is clearly wise beyond his years. big sam in more into strong management, being organised and building a team that is together in spirit. a lot less on the coaching, but he has the better record in the game. it does not necessarily mean hes better all round. gutter press yes, but he knew what he was doing and what he did was morally wrong. you dont get caught doing something like this and not hurt your reputation. the fact he knew how to bend things and that he was advising ways around it, its very dubious. hes lucky that hes smart enough to know how legally speak about the methods without incriminating himself properly. because he only spoke about 'ways' around breaking the laws, the fact he was advising someone and knew how suggests that he breached the trust of his then position, tried to advice on unfair advantages and derogatory comments towards others in football. morally and ethically, he did wrong. if a person was to talk about ways of how you could get away with murder, just as advice, how would you possibly trust them?
  20. there are better teams in the national league they could sponsor, maybe even league one/two.
  21. i hope he settles down for hereford because his wiki seems to be full of moves, which is something i dont think helps players. hes now old enough to do well given the time and if he settles. he should do just fine, if he wants to play higher he needs to work for it.
  22. good luck to him, the national league south is a difficult league to escape from but that applies for the north and main division. i just hope he enjoys his time there and does well. i always thought he was okay at notts, nothing amazing but reliable enough.
  23. yes, we need to to try to secure a playoff place. i am still disappointed to see fans moaning and saying negative things at every opportunity about stuart maynard. support the club and players if you dont like the manager, but dont bring the whole club down just to try to prove your point. the squad is shaping nicely and it gives maynard a better chance to get a defence playing how we would want it too. we have been poor defensively for years, so cut the guy some slack and hope he can. what is the worst that can be gained from getting behind the club? nothing, so they should do it.
  24. good experienced coach, i was not aware keith downing had played for us until i read one of the tweets from pon about him. he seems to have had a wealth of experience, it makes me wonder why he has not tried to manage a team.
  25. i barely remember him, but he was one of those signings that never looked ready to be a part of a first team sqaud imo. i am not surprised he fell so far.
