  2. Hello, @samantha louise. I am pleased to see you have joined us; we are a friendly group of fans at PON. We'll all make you feel welcomed.
  3. Welcome, @magpiemad. I am delighted to see you have found your way to PON. I really like your username! It's quite appealing!
  4. As for Sam Slocombe, I hope he’s not seriously injured. I’m fond of both him and Aidan Stone, so it would be worrying if Slocombe was out for a long time. But Stone is fully capable of stepping back into the team. We were fantastic in the second half, everything just fell into place and we turned the tables on Crawley. Our pressure on them really paid off. It was a brilliant win.
  5. It's quite an intriguing appointment, he's not someone I'd want at Notts. The reaction from Grimsby fans seems to be quite varied, and it's rather amusing to read through one of their forums. I managed to get to page 5, then skipped to the end. There's a fair bit of filler and most of the comments could have been written by a school child. Here's a link https://forum.thefishy.co.uk/Blah.pl?m-1701081981/s-0/ It's a bit fishy over there, but it's worth a read, preferably with some popcorn.
  6. Terry Venables seemed like a truly upright individual who cared about his role as manager. Many former England internationals have spoken very highly of him, which says a lot. Rest in Peace, El Tel.
  7. Until someone confronts them and other companies, the prices will keep rising. It’s not really fair business because it’s not like you can choose a different company. They should be compelled to use their profits to repair their own infrastructure.
  8. Yeah, that’s not a statistic you want to hold. It’s going to be a while before we manage to beat them at home. I can’t envision us finding them to be an easy opponent.
  9. Keep going, @Chris. You’ll start to see more significant improvements if you stay on the path you’re on. I’m fortunate, I can eat non-stop and not gain weight. This might change when I reach my 30s, but for now, I’m enjoying it.
  10. Hello, @Laura Cameron. Welcome to Pride of Nottingham. You’re not related to Kyle by any chance, are you?
  11. His future doesn’t seem to be on the wings, as we have numerous players in those positions and some will always be preferred over him for some reason. It’s more likely he will be brought on as a substitute in this area, but I can easily envision him being used as a temporary fill-in again in one of our three centre back positions.
  12. There’s a sense of nervousness and a lack of creativity. Ideally, we could benefit from a few players hitting top form that’s good enough to propel us forward. Dominating games offensively would alleviate the pressure on the defence. This could be achieved by keeping at least two players back and being mindful of long balls forward aimed at outpacing our back line. While we continue to depend on our goalkeepers, they will persistently face a barrage of harsh and often unjust comments directed at them. Whether it’s for a single mistake or for not making a save. Even though they save many decent attempts, they can’t stop everything. The defenders simply need to improve their defending.
  13. I can’t understand why this happens at away games, we don’t seem like the same team at times. Once panic kicks in, it appears that every player’s mindset shifts, leading to costly mistakes. Despite the criticism Sam Slocombe often receives, he managed to keep the scoreline more respectable, and it’s not his fault for failing to save a penalty. The taker always has the advantage in that situation, especially with the recent rule changes. I’m quite disappointed because I know we’re capable of much better.
  14. From the moment Ben Davies joined the squad, it was clear that he would play a significant role in the season when we were aiming for promotion. The formidable alliance formed by Lee Hughes, Neal Bishop, Ricky Ravenhill, and Mike Edwards was truly remarkable. Watching him play for Notts was a pleasure, as he was such a naturally gifted player.
  15. I’m not sure, the article written by David Jackson doesn’t clarify anything and I don’t use Twitter enough to know what happened. I wonder if it was more innocent than abusive or rude, but has been taken out of context as many things can be when online. Either way, I will support Dan Crowley and his personal beliefs don’t change that.
  16. I will be spending Sunday at my parents’, I came down from Manchester today and went to watch the Wimbledon match with @liampie and @CliftonMagpie. They made the journey a lot of fun, but I thought the result was poor. I am looking forward to spending tomorrow at home, before I have to return home at night. @Fan of Big Tone: It’s a shame he’s fallen to the dark side, he would always be made welcome here, but things are what they are.
  17. It’s wonderful that you’ve participated in the voting process. Your appreciation for the PON community is heartening. Communities thrive on active participation and mutual respect, so keep up the great work!
  18. The line-up does sound promising with the blend of experience and youth. Jim O’Brien’s presence on the field could provide the stability the team needs, while Dan Gosling could bring in fresh energy as a substitute. Here’s hoping for an exciting match between Notts and Wimbledon!
  19. John’s signing indeed seems to be a strategic move by the club to bolster their chances of promotion. His passion for the game and the positive environment around him are certainly contributing to his performance. It’s great to hear that despite the challenges, he’s thriving at Notts.
  20. You’re also welcome to read through my breakdown and thoughts. I have written this to help fans remember the important points that may have been overlooked. The video is excellent, although the audio could stand to improve.
  21. In a recent Fans' Forum event, Notts County's top brass opened up about the heart and soul of the club – its fans. Led by Chief Executive Joe Palmer and Head Coach Luke Williams, the discussion delved into the strategies, challenges, and the unfiltered pulse of the passionate fanbase. The Game-Changing Surge in Fan Support Joe Palmer kicked off the forum by tipping his hat to the devoted fans, acknowledging the remarkable swell in attendance over recent seasons. For Notts County, it's not just about numbers on the attendance sheet; it's a palpable surge that has become a linchpin in the team's success and a driving force behind the infectious team spirit. Recruiting and Squad Depth Issues Luke Williams stepped into the limelight, throwing light on the intricacies of the club's recruitment strategy. The conversation wasn't just about signing players; it was a narrative of adaptability. How do you integrate new blood into the Notts County family, and what happens when unforeseen hurdles, like player injuries, come your way? Williams painted a picture of a carefully orchestrated dance of strategies and contingencies. Stadiums are not just about seats As the conversation moved to the home turf, stadium enhancements took centre stage. Forget the mere expansion of seats; Notts County is looking at the whole experience. From dealing with obscured views to introducing cutting-edge technology like LED boards and, hold your breath, potential astroturfing – the team is leaving no stone unturned. To improve the match day atmosphere, the aim is to transform it. Marketing Mastery and the Art of Fan Connection In a world where fan engagement is as crucial as a last-minute goal, Notts County is actively reviewing its marketing play book. The emphasis isn’t just on attracting fresh faces but ensuring every die-hard supporter feels the magic of match day. It's a sentiment echoed in every cheer and felt in every shared moment. Fan Questions: The Real Game-Changer What sets this forum apart is the unfiltered connection between the leadership and the fans. From ticketing intricacies to the perennial issue of replica kits running out before Christmas, the leadership faced the tough questions head-on. 22. Increased fan support: The chief executive, Joe Palmer, acknowledges and appreciates the growing fan base, highlighting the positive trend in attendance over the seasons. Strategic recruitment: The head coach, Luke Williams, praises the club's recruitment strategy, emphasizing the importance of players adapting to the new environment and the careful consideration of various attributes. Stadium improvements: The club is actively looking into enhancing the stadium experience, with plans to address issues such as obscured view seats, LED boards, and potential astroturfing of the dog track. Marketing and fan engagement: The club is conducting a marketing review to improve fan engagement and the overall match day experience, aiming to attract new supporters while ensuring existing ones have a special and memorable experience. Transparency on challenges: The forum provides insights into challenges faced by the club, such as financial constraints, stadium limitations, and the need for innovative solutions, demonstrating transparency and a commitment to addressing issues head-on. I wasn’t present in person, but I did watch the live stream. I found the audio to be rather subdued. To discern much of what was being said, I had to connect external speakers to my laptop, which is unusual as I typically have to reduce the volume. The overall production appears to be a significant enhancement over previous endeavours. It came across as a fruitful fan forum.
  23. It’s not worth my while travelling down from Manchester, even if I were to stay at my parents’ place, I’m unsure how it would interfere with my work shifts. Unfortunately, work takes precedence in this instance.
  24. It should be an engaging match. This is going to be one of those games where Notts will need to be at their peak, as Bradford City can turn it into a contest regardless of their difficulties. They might arrive at Meadow Lane under the impression that it should be easier for us, but I believe that will make it more challenging because we simply don’t know if they will be fired up and ready, or if they will allow us to play and park the bus.
  25. It appears highly improbable to me that Luke Williams would abandon the ship mid-season. Notts have everything to offer Luke, including a talented team and a squad that plays for him. Taking on Oxford United would be a significant risk, despite their current success. The problem any new manager faces is that their fans might become disgruntled the moment their performance starts to decline, with the manager instantly being blamed and potentially leading to divided opinions among the fan base. It’s one of those appointments where you need to be certain it’s the right step forward. Williams could be the perfect fit, but no one will know. We can only share our thoughts, wait for things to unfold, and thankfully, all the rumours have been put to rest. I’ve written a feature on this subject, and it would be appreciated if members could take the time to read, share, and leave a comment. ????
