  1. Stay on track, @Chris. A number of us haven't had a poor beginning. With a couple of strong rounds, you might find yourself back in contention or at the bottom.
  2. Macaulay Langstaff has performed admirably in maintaining his focus. I appreciate that he isn't concerned about failing to register goals, but rather recognizes that the team possesses the capability to deliver the ball to areas where he can capitalize on promising opportunities. He stands out as a highly impressive striker who is poised to net a substantial number of goals this season. I am anticipating witnessing further development in his partnership with Cedwyn Scott, as this is an aspect we have yet to fully exploit to our benefit.
  3. Doncaster Rovers' initial strategy was to closely shadow every single player. They would assign two to three players to pressure whoever had possession, creating challenges in finding open spaces. There were instances when a swift pass to the opposite side was desirable. Many times, Jodi Jones found ample space, yet he was only able to receive the ball promptly in this scenario once. A notable exception was when Matt Palmer skilfully delivered the ball to him. However, I believe there is room for further exploration in this regard. Regarding Jim, his unwavering dedication is well-known. Even though it may have resulted in us losing the 3 points, I find it difficult to be overly critical of him. Nevertheless, I concur that maintaining our focus and rectifying these issues are imperative.
  4. Luke Williams is correct; progressing with an away win is positive, but conceding that goal is disappointing. Aidan Stone should have maintained a clean sheet; there's no justification for allowing that goal. Nevertheless, it's not a significant setback.
  5. Your analysis is thorough and precise, gaffer. I agree with the points you raised regarding the upcoming match against Tranmere Rovers. Regarding the game itself, I agree that Luke Williams made the right decision by omitting Aaron Nemane. The team performed admirably, particularly in the second half, resulting in an entertaining match.
  6. Impressive photographs, @Chris. It would be great if you could resume doing this regularly for Notts.
  7. Despite having attended the match and experienced the incredible atmosphere first-hand, I believe the vlog effectively demonstrates why it was such a great event. It captures the essence perfectly, and the insights into the game are well-articulated. Well done, @ARLukomski.
  8. He executed the goal nicely. However, I wouldn't base a recommendation solely on that one performance. He's someone to keep an eye on; if he can continue scoring, it will be intriguing to follow his progress.
  9. I rely on the clips the club releases for goal reactions, and I find them completely satisfactory. I don't detect any issues with them. I do like watching the post-match interviews now; I find them quite impressive. Even when the younger individual conducts them, they still come across as high-quality interviews.
  10. It's spectacular to see how Langstaff has been so resilient in face of criticism and pressure. A true forward indeed, who knows and believes that his time will come. Also, his acknowledgment of the team's contribution, especially Sam Austin's, shows a commendable team spirit and recognition of fellow players' efforts.
  11. I believe it's essential for us to generate more goal-scoring opportunities in tomorrow's match against Doncaster. It's important to disregard their current league position, as no team in League Two has been exceptionally dominant thus far. While progress will take time, our team's strength is becoming evident with each game, and our focus should remain steadfast. Luke Williams is commendable; his consistent acknowledgment of our support underscores the fact that a majority of fans are firmly behind the club. The negativity that does exist is mostly outside of the actual games, potentially stemming from venting and frustration among those who do not attend matches. Williams' approach to moving forward is accurate, and I hold confidence in it. Let's ensure that Doncaster experiences a formidable challenge tomorrow.
  12. I believe this upcoming match against Doncaster Rovers will serve as a pivotal examination of our performance in away games. Doncaster should present a fairly competent opposition, although they have had their own uncertain beginning. I hold a high degree of confidence in Notts, and, echoing sentiments expressed in the match discussion, I am eager to witness John Bostock's return to the field. I am also very optimistic about the prospect of Richard Brindley being positioned between the other two central defenders. I believe he can effectively execute his role in that position and contribute to bolstering our defensive capabilities. Additionally, I am sincerely hopeful that Macaualay Langstaff will secure his inaugural goal for us in League Two. Regardless of the outcome, it is crucial that we maintain our unwavering support, which has been nothing short of remarkable, as we move forward.
  13. A triumph would provide a significant boost, not only for the travelling supporters, as indicated by the latest indications of 2.5k as confirmed by Notts, but also for the players to fully progress in the season. I believe that cohesion will emerge when the players derive enjoyment from their football and the club achieves the necessary results. Doncaster raises concerns due to their squad's height advantage and their home advantage, despite their very poor start.
  14. The upcoming match will serve as a valuable gauge of Notts' development. While Doncaster Rovers are facing challenges, there remains a possibility of an unexpected reversal. The crucial factor is approaching each moment of the game with earnestness, irrespective of the opposing team's present form.

  19. Adam Collin had two uneventful times at Doncaster Rovers.
  20. It's always great to read about the history of Notts and how fans like @magpiejue have supported the team through thick and thin. Julie's story shows the power of football to bring people together and create lifelong memories. I like that her parents met through supporting Notts County, and her love for the team has been passed down through generations, with her 11-year-old grandson Harvey attending a trip to Wembley with her and her 91-year-old mother. That is just wholesome to read! Julie's dedication to Notts County is evident in the traditions and rituals she has developed as a fan. Being a part of the Pride of Nottingham community has also enriched her experience as a fan by allowing her to connect with other supporters and participate in activities such as the prediction league. Keep up the great work, Julie!
  21. Notts County secured a hard-earned point in their match against Morecambe on Tuesday, with the game ending in a goalless draw. Despite Notts County's sustained pressure, neither team could find the back of the net, with Jodi Jones coming closest when his volley struck the bar in the second half. Notts County manager Luke Williams made three changes to the side that triumphed over Grimsby at Meadow Lane on Saturday, introducing Jim O’Brien, Aiden Baldwin, and Adam Chicksen into the starting line-up. Notts County began the match strongly, controlling possession and asserting their dominance over their opponents. The away support was vocal in their backing of the team, spurring them on to greater heights. Morecambe had the first half-chance of the game in the ninth minute when Adam Mayor drove forward with intent, but Chicksen was on hand to diffuse the danger and snuff out the attack. Just five minutes later, Notts County had their first sight of goal when Baldwin released Aaron Nemane down the right-hand side with a well-timed pass. Nemane’s cross found David McGoldrick unmarked on the penalty spot, but his effort flew agonisingly wide of the post. Notts County then enjoyed a period of sustained pressure and created a number of scoring opportunities. Matt Palmer found Nemane with a precise pass and the winger’s cross picked out Jones at the back post. Jones met the ball on the volley, and it crashed against the bar, much to the frustration of the Notts County players and fans. As the game drew to a conclusion, it became more end-to-end as both teams searched for a winner. However, neither side could create any clear-cut chances and four substitutions from Williams were not enough to break down Morecambe's resolute defence. In the end, Notts County defended a Morecambe corner right at the death before the final whistle blew, signalling an end to proceedings. Was the result fair? That's certainly up for debate. But one thing is for sure - both teams gave it their all in a closely contested encounter. In terms of performance, Notts County looked solid defensively, although Kyle Cameron and Aidan Baldwin both made mistakes which thankfully didn't prove costly. In terms of possession, Notts looked like the far better team and passed the ball around well. A little more movement at times would have been beneficial, but overall their pressing was effective. The main issue was simply their lack of clear chances on goal. Notts played very well overall but need to put games like this to bed. Morecambe were content to sit back and allow Notts to have possession for large spells of the game. They did pounce when they sensed an opening or opportunity to attack but overall were ineffective going forward. Defensively, they coped well with any threats they faced and limited openings for clear chances. In terms of tactics, Luke Williams' approach gave Notts control of possession and worked well both defensively and offensively. However, John Bostock was largely missed from midfield despite Jim O'Brien playing quite well. The tactics worked to a degree, but there were aspects that could have been changed to create more opportunities. The fact that Notts struggled to score would suggest that while mostly correct, some in-game decisions could have improved things. The officials performed well overall, with very little causing concern. They did well to keep the game flowing by allowing challenges that may once have resulted in free kicks to simply unfold. This was noticeable by the lack of added minutes at both ends of each half. Up next for Notts is an away trip to Doncaster on August 19th. It should be a good day out for fans as Doncaster are a side much like Morecambe that Notts should fare well against. So far this season Doncaster have only picked up a single point after losing their opening two games. In terms of how Notts should approach this game, it would be good to see Luke Williams play a back three consisting of Kyle Cameron, Richard Brindly and Aidan Baldwin. Adam Chicksen could come in at left wing-back with Aaron Nemane on the right. Defensively, this would provide a good balance between defensive responsibilities and attacking options. Notts need to ensure that space is explored in such a way that allows them to find someone in an interlinking chain so that when an opportunity presents itself for wing-backs to exploit space they can do so effectively by putting crosses into dangerous areas. It would be great if John Bostock returns to the starting line-up as he provides many options both defensively and going forward. With Matt Palmer pulling strings in midfield, this would hopefully allow David McGoldrick and Macauley Langstaff to move freely while being marked. If Notts can constantly shuffle around then there should be openings for them to get in behind Doncaster's defence. Ultimately, Notts must create chances that bring their attacking options into play. More focus needs to go into feeding the ball to Langstaff as he is known to be a threat on goal. So far this season Notts haven't quite worked out how to do this due to the improvements in League Two defenders but working on this would naturally help and give other players a level of freedom that hasn't been seen yet. 22. I have written my thoughts on the game, but I will say here that I think we need to make adjustments during games. Morecambe made it difficult for us, and Luke Williams is right about the level of concentration required. Things will improve, but there is much that we can do now in the process. I would like to see the Notts players move around more and try to open up space when being marked. We are sometimes a little grouped and content to be near the opposition, whereas I feel we need to move them out.
  23. I completely understand and share the disappointment. On any other occasion, Notts would have managed to score one or two goals. Sometimes, luck just isn't on our side. However, the players made the best of the chances they had, even though Morecambe presented a tough challenge. We do need to enhance our ability to create scoring opportunities, which would allow players like Macaulay Langstaff to shine. Without resorting to clichΓ©s, it's still early days, and with time, improvements are bound to come. Notably, there are some strong teams that have had a worse start than us, which suggests that a winning streak could boost our confidence and lead to more favorable results. Looking ahead to the next 7 games, I anticipate a significant progression from our squad, and I hope Williams won't hesitate to introduce lesser-known players in an effort to diversify our attacking approach.
  24. Best wishes to Brad McGregor. I also noticed his solid performance during pre-season, and this is a wonderful chance for him to demonstrate his skills.
  25. @RetroPie I'm on the same page. I believe a touch of practicality should be used, but in this case, I think a yellow card is justified. It could serve as a deterrent for players in the future, don't you think? It's about time some actions are taken. However, I also concur that granting referees more authority to hand out yellow cards for minor incidents could potentially lead to misuse.
