  1. It is good man management to take players out of training and playing in a pre-season friendly. They will catch up, and it is more important to avoid serious or nagging injuries that persist. Luke Williams addressed these concerns while looking out for the players themselves, saying that we are preparing very nicely. There are still three games for players to catch up, and even with the start of the season looming, they will easily get up to speed.
  2. I agree, it’s a good move. Considering that Tranmere and Notts are the two biggest teams he has actually played for, with the rest being typical League Two teams, it suggests to me that the drop isn’t that surprising. He has probably been offered more money by them than he would have been by clubs in the FL cutting back on their expenditure on wages. We are fortunate that we have had good revenue coming in, plus the promotion money.
  3. A lot of Salford City fans are young, with many teenagers who would have supported other Greater Manchester teams. It’s a very easy game for me to get to, so I am not affected, and I will still be going. I believe that Notts fans might encounter obstacles in attending the game, as the number of tickets allocated to them could be limited, potentially falling short of the amount given to fans of other clubs. The Football League cannot possibly justify altering the game to a Friday solely because Manchester United is playing at home, although it is likely the true underlying motive. In Manchester, there is a large base of passionate supporters for City. Therefore, it is likely that people from nearby areas who come to Salford are United fans.
  4. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham, @BeestonPie. It's good to see you have joined us.
  5. Charlie Slater decision to move away from Notts' commentary is truly heart-wrenching, but my best wishes go out to him.
  6. He looked superb, very comfortable on the ball and aware. His decision-making seemed promising too, as he seemed to back that up with his ability. I hope he continues to play, so we can see if it’s worth offering him a deal or not. So far, I would say it is worth it.
  7. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham, @Kevin May. Have fun!
  8. Welcome to the site, @Bryn Roberts. I hope you enjoy PON.
  9. The nearest games for me will be Stockport County and Salford City. I can easily get to them from Manchester. They will be on the list for me to attend due to this reason. Bradford City and Tranmere Rovers are two grounds I want to visit, just to tick them off my list of grounds I have been to. It’s a good insight, much to chew on and consider in terms of other games I might go to. I would enjoy going to more games with @liampie and @CliftonMagpie, even catching up with @Chris, if we bump into each other.
  10. Great news to see the youngsters sign up! Does the scholarship mean that Notts gets aid with paying their wages, or is this just the term for players who aren’t quite first-year pros? I find the changes in wording difficult to keep up with. It’s great news though!
  11. Best Signing: Jodi Jones Highest Goal Scorer: Macaulay Langstaff Most Improved Player of the Season: Connell Rawlinson Most Starts in the Season: Kyle Cameron Best partnership between two players: Kyle Cameron and Connell Rawlinson
  12. It felt like the city was excited about the friendly. I noticed plenty of mixed fans watching as I passed bars in the city centre. I didn’t see any trouble, and the minute’s silence was respected by both clubs, which I am pleased wasn’t disturbed by anyone. The match itself showed us a lot about how we can adapt, and I think Luke Williams appreciated the time that Steve Cooper took to connect with him over things. While I still don’t like Forest, I can appreciate this and enjoy the banter with their more sensible fans.
  13. It took a bit of getting used to Charlie after all the years we had with Uncle Colin. I thought Charlie continued that torch and connected well with the fans. It was nice to hear how he would speak about things ahead of games, mentioning things within the community. It broadened that connection, and with his bond with Mark Stallard, they have made it enjoyable to listen to the commentary, especially when looking back at their celebrations. GET IN! It won’t be the same without Charlie Slater.
  14. I recall reading about a player named Arthur Mann on this very website. He is the only player I can think of, and if it were not for the alumni who shared their memories today, I might not have made the connection. It reminded me of where I had read about him
  15. It is sad to hear about his situation. I cannot imagine what depression is like, but the fact that Spurs did not look after him and made it worse is disheartening. It is difficult to understand how anyone could behave in such a way. Footballers are often seen as commodities, and unless you are a very big name, you are unlikely to be the exception. I think less of Tottenham for their actions, but it is heartening to see that Harry Kane and Eric Dier stood behind him.
  16. Marc Bola, I wish you the best of luck. I assume they are offering him much better wages than he is currently receiving, as well as a good chance of playing in cup competitions.
  17. At first, I thought Kyle Cameron had simply given the ball away, but now it makes sense. It’s important to understand that it’s best to give instructions when out of play or relay them to a player who isn’t involved. Rather than when a player has the ball, credit to Williams for taking responsibility and offering protection to his captain. Cameron was decent enough, but I did feel he was prone to losing the ball or dropping down in front of it needlessly to win free kicks. This sometimes works, but when it doesn’t, we lose the ball in a dangerous area.
  18. I rarely stream films and usually decide beforehand what to watch. Occasionally, I watch DVDs from my family's collection and enjoy revisiting them.
  19. Good luck to Sochaux in their efforts to secure their future and move forward. It seems like a challenging task.
  20. Barnsley supporters will hope that their team won't face severe punishment. Even if the owners who broke the rules have left, it wouldn't be fair for clubs to be sold as a means of avoiding punishment. The board should have disclosed everything to the EFL and should face the consequences.
  21. Southend looks like a team that is on the verge of bankruptcy. Their fans have every right to be concerned due to their owner. I think they need a miracle to escape being forced to resolve. I hope it’s not the case, but it does look worrying.
  22. I don’t remember the incident, but I am glad that the player has been punished. The video goes to show that players won’t get away with incidents like this if they are captured. Poor York City, how will they cope?
  23. Notts County is enthusiastically preparing for the forthcoming season. Their schedule includes a sequence of pre-season friendlies and rigorous training sessions aimed at priming the team for success. Luke Williams, the team's Manager, has introduced four fresh faces to the squad this summer. Each has participated in some form within the team's initial pre-season friendlies. Macauley Langstaff, a forward for the team, has expressed his favourable impressions of how smoothly the newcomers have integrated with the rest of the group. Jodi Jones, one of the new arrivals, made a remarkable impact on Notts County's journey to the playoff final against Chesterfield, following his impressive loan spell from Oxford United last season. Jones was highlighted thanks to his triumphant match-winning goal against Boreham Wood. Subsequently, Jones has now signed a permanent contract. This newly committed pact aligns him with Will Randall, David McGoldrick, Dan Crowley, and Aidan Stone, who have also joined the ranks. The positions that each player brings to the team are as follows - Jodi Jones serves as a right-winger, while Will Randall fulfils the role of a left-winger. David McGoldrick operates as a centre-forward, Dan Crowley offers his talents as an attacking midfielder and Aidan Stone holds the fort as a goalkeeper. It appears that Notts County has strategically bolstered their team with these solid acquisitions. All the new players are projected to have a tangible effect on the overall squad's performance. For instance, Will Randall and Jodi Jones have already shown good rapport, performing particularly well together against Stoke City. David McGoldrick importunes experience to the team, given his past playing in the Championship. Dan Crowley appears to be a skilful attacking midfielder who can both identify passing opportunities and advance into potential spaces. His experience at the Arsenal academy has had a clear impact on his performance, which is likely to remain impressive, particularly in the upcoming friendly match against Nottingham Forest. Aidan Stone has shown promise in his performance against Nuneaton, displaying a slight struggle against Stoke due to defensive missteps. However, playing against League Two players should be more to his advantage. As a goalie striving for first-team status, Goalkeeping Coach Tom Weal is expected to bring out his best. Despite my innate optimism, I genuinely believe the squad possesses enough prowess to compete against the most formidable teams in League Two. If the wind is in our sails, a title race or staggering back-to-back promotions are not impossible. The team possesses impressive depth and is poised to be a formidable presence. We have a group of players in our team, including Jodi Jones, Will Randall, Aaron Nemane, and Adam Chicksen, who are renowned for their relentless ability to score goals and provide assists. Our midfield strength is evident with the likes of Matt Palmer, John Bostock, Dan Crowley, bolstered by the experienced Jim O'Brien and David McGoldrick. To summarise, the new summer signings at Notts County are anticipated to substantially impact the team's success this season. A balanced combination of experience and enthusiasm should make for a thrilling season ahead for Notts County. Even without an additional centre back, the team could potentially vie for another title while possibly achieving back-to-back promotions. Everyone awaits keenly to see how this season unfolds for Notts County.
  24. This was one of Steven Gerrard’s best games for Liverpool. That team overachieved that season. Yes, they were a good team, but making the final was a great success story for them. I have a strong preference for either Boreham Wood or Chesterfield. Both of those were amazing, especially the playoff semi-final. We appeared defeated and without hope.
  25. Please don’t tell us, @Fan of Big Tone, that you like everything well-done but didn’t take any photos of it because you burnt it all. ????
