  1. I think his time in the Netherlands will aid his development, as adapting to different leagues is a useful skill for players. He sounds like he has a lot of quality, and while comparisons aren’t always negative, I believe he will shine as his own player for Notts. I wish him all the best with the birth of his children; moving to Nottingham makes a lot of sense for this reason.
  2. Imagine creating a time capsule for Notts County to be opened in 50 years. What items would you include to represent the club’s history, achievements, and current state? As a Notts County fan, what personal items or memories would you include? Here’s what I would include in a Notts County time capsule. I would put last season’s home and away shirts in the capsule, along with some programs from the last 20 odd years. I would also include a picture of Jason Turner and a notebook explaining who he was and further stories about current squad members. In addition to these items, I would also include a small Danish flag and a news clipping about the Reedtz Brothers taking over the club. As for personal items, I would include one of my PON features as a means to show my connection to Notts County. To preserve the items in the time capsule, I would look into using airtight bags and conduct further research on how best to prevent degradation over time. I would bury the capsule in the KOP’s goalmouth, where it could be found by future generations of Notts County fans. - What items would best represent Notts County’s history and achievements? What photo of a current player or staff member would you include in the time capsule?
  3. Notts County is still waiting for Aaron Nemane’s decision on his contract. Connell Rawlinson, Sam Slocombe, Jim O’Brien, and Kyle Cameron have renewed their contracts. Ruben Rodrigues has moved on. Jodi Jones has signed permanently, along with Will Randall, David McGoldrick, and Dan Crowley. The new arrivals add a lot of depth and seem to bring their own quality to the squad. What positions do you think Notts County needs to strengthen? Are there any specific players you have in mind?
  4. Dan Crowley is indeed a fantastic signing for the club. Luke Williams is building a very competitive squad for League Two. There may be a few more additions that you would like to see, such as a CB/LWB, but overall the squad is looking strong. I’m glad you’re pleased that Crowley has signed for us.
  5. I feel sorry for both managers. The football business can be like this - there’s no loyalty and managers can go for the most basic of reasons. It’s bad news in a way for Sheffield Wednesday, as Darren Moore had them playing some good football.
  6. Cal Roberts will be fine with Scunthorpe. It’s a great signing for them and I wonder what fee they paid for Cal. I think his injuries have impacted his career, but at the same time he can make a great legacy as a lower-tier player who helps teams gain promotion. His Premier League dreams may not happen, but there’s no reason why he can’t get back to the Football League.
  7. I enjoyed the article, and it has high praise for David McGoldrick. It’s also interesting to see how the Derby manager feels about the loss of their highest goalscorer last season.
  8. It is indeed amazing to see how far the team has come over the past four years. Notts has used their time within the National League to go from strength to strength. I can understand why you feel this is the best the club has been in during your lifetime. It’s exciting to see how we can learn from the experience of dropping down to the Non-League. This is brilliant.
  9. Happy Birthday to you, @Fan of Big Tone. Have a wonderful birthday.
  10. This is a signing that should excite all fans. He’s an excellent player and someone who has been considered by fans as a realistic target. He has the ability to play at a much higher level; he just needs to settle in and find what works. I believe we will see the best of him at Notts - it’s one hell of a signing.
  11. I don’t get to watch them as often as I would like because I’m busy with work and other things that get in the way of sitting down to watch the games in full. I do watch the highlights on YouTube. I miss some of the tournament games at times, but not many. Notts and the England national team are important to me.
  12. These types of incidents should remain private. I can see it from both sides and understand the keeper’s ambitions, but it comes across as disrespectful to Brentford, who gave him a platform to showcase his ability. He decided to join them and so far, this doesn’t show him in a good light. Brentford would be best to get rid of him and find a new keeper. This situation could be the undoing for all involved. I feel sorry for Brentford; they deserve better.
  13. Kairo Mitchell wasn’t very good. There’s no sugarcoating that he arrived for a fee and left as a freebie. He applied himself, but I always felt he could have done better. He wasn’t the signing I thought the club had made and his release might have signaled an improvement for him. He didn’t show much of anything for Eastleigh on loan. Good luck to him at Rochdale.
  14. It seems like a good move for Jordan Richards. I hope it pays off because he could be playing at a higher level if he had gained the experience needed sooner. Boston should give him the platform to showcase what he’s all about.
  15. I hope Jodi managed to get the shirt signed. It’s a nice souvenir for him and Maddison did a nice gesture by handing it to him.
  16. I’m glad it hasn’t ended yet. There was a brief point early in last season when I wondered if Jim would reflect on retirement at the end of the season, considering how the squad was taking shape and with his contract being up. Being the only surviving player from our relegation squad speaks volumes about him. He worked tirelessly to get the results we needed to stay up and then did the same when it came to trying to gain promotion to the Football League. It’s been interesting, but there’s still at least one more chapter in him. It would be great if we could add another promotion to it.
  17. I’ve just gone through and made sure to follow people. I didn’t realise I didn’t follow the gaffer or even Liam! I should have paid more attention to users’ profiles, but with all the talk being inside the forums until learning you can post in a member’s profile, I just never thought about following people. I had some followed, like Super Ram etc. I must have thought I followed others at some point but hadn’t.
  18. Yes, her work with dementia has been important and her grandfather’s condition is touching. It’s awful when it affects people’s lives beyond just the one person. It’s like seeing the person die on the inside while still alive, taking every bit of whom the person is and what makes them special to the point they don’t know you and you see how badly things have changed.
  19. It was very one-sided, with little means for Malta to even cause any sort of trouble. I have seen Malta play Italy, who gave them more time on the ball, and it’s because of this that I feel disappointed having hoped Malta would perform better. For the sake of Jodi Jones, I wished they had given him more opportunity, but it simply didn’t come.
  20. Has anyone seen him play? Liverpool to Kidderminster Harriers is a long way down, but Lee Hughes left West Brom for them and became a good player in time. If we can salvage his career and make use of him, he could be useful. I remember him being a winger in our youth team; can he play elsewhere?
  21. Regular members might not see it, but I do. @super_ram is always trying to get us to talk and encourages the good side of being a community. I value his membership here. He gives us an outside perspective which has been mentioned, I know. Although, I would add that it’s clear Super feels comfortable with us, and he has shown an interest in the team. I think we can take for granted what others do. I know the Gaffer is always trying to praise and give credit out when it’s due, but I feel we have neglected to give Super Ram his turn. I wouldn’t like to see PON in a state of repair and buggy, so thank you for helping, Super Ram! We do appreciate what you do.
  22. Yes, I also had to log in again, which I have never had to do before. I just save my session and come back when I use PON. It’s no issue, but as @liampie said, if it makes you aware of it, at least you then know.
  23. Jim O’Brien is a key player for Notts County, there’s no doubt about it. Some fans may think he’s past it because they’re moody, but it takes a great level of fitness and skill to keep going. Michael Doyle’s legs had gone the moment he arrived, but he was worshipped and I can’t understand why it isn’t the same for Jim. He’s by far the better player. I think if we had him from the beginning of the season we wouldn’t have been relegated. Yet, he fought for us in those four years when we were non-league and he’s helped to take us back. We can credit every squad player or just our favourites, but I for one will credit Jim’s loyalty and dedication to our club. He is a fantastic squad player and I look forward to seeing him in the upcoming season.
  24. The ground I am most looking forward to going to is a very traditional ground, much like ours, and the history of it is interesting. It’s sad too, with the fire that happened, but Valley Parade is where I am most looking forward to. Most friendly? Walsall hands down. Great pubs nearby? Tranmere Rovers. Good food? I don’t think it exists; I don’t eat at grounds themselves. I eat before, but Newport has some good chip shops. Stockport County is the easiest ground for me to make, what with me living in Manchester. It’s very easy to get there from the city centre.
  25. The Skipper has signed on for two years, which is fantastic. Cameron has improved the club in big strides; as captain, I don’t think we could ask for anyone better. He leads by example and just works tirelessly. I am pleased the defence will mostly be the same as last season; going into games with those existing partnerships and communication will only be a blessing.
