Alan Hardy provides update on Notts County matchday programme

Notts County chairman Alan Hardy has confirmed that the club will look into reducing the size of the matchday programme but is unlikely to get rid of them completely.

EFL clubs recently voted to end their compulsory publication as a result of declining sales and the costs involved in production.

“Like the fans I love a good programme, but the truth is the sales are declining every year,” Hardy told the Nottingham Post.

“A tremendous amount of work goes into them and they are a costly exercise with net losses being considerable.

“But I don’t think it is right to do away with them altogether and the traditionalist in me says they are still excellent mementos for fans or collectors.

“We will have a discussion in what we want to do next season in terms of the one we produce, but the likelihood is it will reduce in size.”

    I would buy one if they was worth reading in the first place, I hope the club does improve them because I would purchase one.

    The club should have found a way to keep them in within the season tickets IMO, it seemed a good way and I am certain more fans took one because of that.

    I know Notts actually lost money in this department due to that, but a better model and season might see the club break even with them - it's funny because I don't think they deserve being scrapped but there's just little to interest people enough to make them a commercial thing these days.

    I'd like Notts to keep the programme, got loads of them, never know where to keep them once i've read them tho'. Stuck em all on a bookcase in the spare room.

    Match day programs are something they have sold for as long as I can remember since I went at the age of 9. My grandad had a nice little collection of County ones if they stop making them it’s like a bit of history going as well. I’m glad they won’t be totally going at this moment.
