Notts County midfielder Alan Smith will wait until a new manager is in place before discussing his future, according to reports.

The 35-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and is said to be on the radar of Plymouth Argyle, an offer that he is considering.

According to the Nottingham Post he has informed the Magpies board that he is happy to stay should they offer him a new deal, but will speak to the new boss over his role at Meadow Lane going forward.

A poll carried out by the Plymouth Herald found that 68 percent of Argyle fans would welcome the former Manchester United man at Home Park.

Would you like to see Smudger remain at Meadow Lane, or is it time for him to go? Visit the Pride of Nottingham forum and join the conversation.

If he needs a lift down I'll cancel my appointments and drive him there tomorrow if needed. Bye.

If we don't intend for him to be coach, I think it's safe to say his services could be no longer required. He's not a player who can feature frequently, once ever three games is probably the limit - a useful backup but that means others should hold priority over him.

I think he can be safely allowed his leave.

I understand that he is one of the lowest paid players and is great to have around the dressing room but playing wise he's getting too old I think.

i would like him to stay but i do not think he is able to commit much, it seems he has not got it in him now.

He's been over the hill so long he's probably reached the sea by now. I don't blame him for wanting to play for as long as possible, but clubs are only interested in him because of his past. Why else would Plymouth be interested in a bit-part player at a team 16 places below them?

It's understandable that players will want to talk to the new manager to see if they're in his plans, especially if they've got offers. I'm thinking of Noble here too. Actually, they'd be stupid not to.

hopefully whoever comes in has a brain and sees that we have been overrun in the middle of the park time an time again.

Stanley and Smith have zero pace Stanley is gifted just not got a engine like Milsom and Curtis have and noble who will chase all game.

Personally get rid allow Curtis to play in the middle with Noble and they will not get over run constantly or even push Stan high up so he has to do less running more controlling the game typeΒ
