'Disappointment for me was that more was not done to get the game played' says Hartlepool's Ronnie Moore

Hartlepool United manager Ronnie Moore has expressed his 'disappointment' that last weekends game at Meadow Lane had been postponed.

The pools have a backlog of fixtures due to postponements and will be one of the busiest teams within the Football League as they play catch up. Moore's side now have either three, four or five games in hand over other teams who sit at the bottom end of the division, with weather so far this season meaning Hartlepool United experience their fourth postponement to date.

"I came down early in the car with Sam Collins when I heard there might be a doubt, when I got on the pitch there was standing water in the goalmouths and centre-circle." More told the SportMail.

"The ref walks out, tries to bounce a ball, of course it gets stuck so he says 'there's no change'."

"I love coming to Notts County, it’s a great pitch, ground and atmosphere and was looking forward to the match so much. The disappointment for me was that more was not done to get the game played."

Meadow Lane was waterlogged on Saturday after heavy rain down-poured throughout Nottingham.

"Yes, there was water on the surface, but the ground was actually quite firm. For me, if the water had been pushed off like you see them do on the golf greens and then the pitch had been forked then you don’t know, do you? There might have been a chance." He said.

"The [Notts County] people said that the water drains into the river just outside the ground and the river’s right up. Results went the way of Pools on Saturday in the games which went ahead."

What do you think of the postponement? Is Ronnie Moore right that more could have been done or is he just upset due to the backlog of fixtures? Have you say on the Pride of Nottingham.

i can understand his frustration but it happened to us with their place, surely he should understand?

its hard to tell who exactly he blames, is it the ref or the club? his comments seem more of a rant to me. i bet most of the backlog is caused by their own problems.

I have seen the pictures on the official Facebook account and the Nottingham Post.

To me it seems the pitch was not that bad but it is for the referee to decide. In most cases its best to avoid injury or doubt.

Liam he seems to pointing the finger at the ground staff.

I wonder if Stevenage will be saying something similar if their game away to Hartlepool is postponed tomorrow night....

Its excuse to distract from the fact him and his side aren't doing that well.

Right or wrong, I am sure he's got better things to be focusing on.
