Notts County Manager Luke Williams Praises Team's Performance in Pre-Season Friendly

dan crowley is looking shaper by the minute, he really performed well against telford. i thought they did look quite difficult to break down at times, but notts persisted and the two goals were brilliantly taken. i am glad we are also not over pushing the players, but taking the right precautions to avoid any set backs.

The home friendlies have shown us how we need to prepare defensively. Those were very good exercises for that, and I think Telford played quite well, although we definitely looked a lot better. The squad is progressing well, and these games aren’t about winning. Although winning does breed confidence, it makes a massive difference to their fitness and the structure of the formation we play.

The squad is establishing a level of understanding with the new players. Pairs of players, such as Dan Crowley, are serving as anchors further up the pitch, connecting others into the games. It's looking promising for when we play teams at our own level.

Defensively is the area we need to improve the most. We play good, fluid football and can break teams down when we control the matches. It’s good to see the players enjoying their football. I like how Luke Williams is building.

The club is making good progress. The new recruits appear to be settling in well and the coaching is helping to bring out the best in the squad. The focus now is on the upcoming away game against Sutton.

It will be interesting to see whether Slocombe or Stone is selected to play. Both are strong choices, but it will be a difficult decision for Williams to make.

Another good friendly for Williams to test out various things, it sounds like we played well and could have scored more.
