Notts County target Alex Rodman to leave Newport County

Joe Jones

Newport County have confirmed that Alex Rodman has turned down an offer of a new contract at the club, potentially paving the way for a move to Notts County.

The 29-year-old winger, who played under current Magpies boss John Sheridan at Rodney Parade, scored five goals in 34 appearances for the Welsh club during the 2015-16 campaign.

A statement on the Exiles website read: "The Club are aware of media reports linking Alex Rodman to Notts County.

"Although it would be inappropriate for the Club to comment on another club, we can confirm that Club officials have been in dialogue with the player and his representative for a period of time.

"Unfortunately this has resulted in Alex not accepting the offer made to stay with us. As a result we would like to wish Alex all the best for the future."
