Record-Breaking Jodi Jones Signs New Deal to Secure Future at Notts County

PON_News

Notts County have secured a major boost with star winger Jodi Jones signing a new contract that will keep him at Meadow Lane until June 2027.

The 26-year-old, who set a record with 24 assists in League Two last season, has agreed to extend his stay with the Magpies, cementing his place as a key figure in the club's future plans. Jones' exceptional form, which earned him Player of the Year honours from both the PFA and EFL, has continued into this season, with three assists and two goals in his first four matches.

The news has been warmly received by the club’s board of directors, who praised the player’s impact since joining on loan from Oxford United in the National League.

“Jodi’s performances and achievements speak for themselves,” a club statement read. “We’re naturally delighted that he’s accepted our offer of a new contract. Since joining us, Jodi has given us many special moments to cherish, and we’ve no doubt that there are many more to come.”

Head coach Stuart Maynard was equally enthusiastic about the deal, emphasising the importance of Jones’ consistency and versatility.

“He brings so much quality week in, week out,” said Maynard. “That consistency is reflected in the number of assists he’s provided for us. He’s also becoming more of a goal threat, which is something we spoke about when I first arrived.”

Jones has adapted well to playing on the right wing this season, according to Maynard, with his ability to go both ways causing problems for opposition defenders.

“Opposition teams are really struggling to get near him. Out on the right, he’s much harder to trap, whereas on the left, teams would often try to double up on him.”

Maynard also praised Jones’ improvements on the defensive side of his game, pointing to a recent performance at Swindon as a prime example.

“We all know that wasn’t our most fluent team performance, but Jodi played a massive part in helping us grind out the win. He’s taken that part of his game to new levels.”

With this new contract in place, Notts County fans can look forward to more of the magic Jones brings on the pitch, as the club continues to build around their star player.

I'm over the moon about Jones' contract extension! His contribution to Notts County has been invaluable, evident from his record-breaking 24 assists last season. Jodi's versatility and ability to perform consistently make him a cornerstone of our squad.

Stuart Maynard's comments on his potential as a goal threat is exciting. Jodi's adaptation on the right wing has provided us with new tactical advantages, making it harder for opponents to contain him. His improved defensive skills highlight his dedication and growth as a player. Securing his services until 2027 is a fantastic decision by the club. Can't wait to witness more magic from Jodi, he’s a true pie!

BIG NEWS!! I wasn't worried about Jodi Jones not extending his stay, because I always felt that he would. I doubt he wanted to leave Coventry City, but here he is now at Meadow Lane, and he's earned a very similar reputation with our fan base. We love seeing him put on our shirts, and he enjoys entertaining us. His performance is top draw when he's in the zone and his focus always helps to be a game-changer. The way he goes about getting forward, there's no real surprise that he's full of assists. I also like how Stuart Maynard is encouraging Jodi to have more efforts on goal.

I can't express how delighted I am that Jodi Jones has signed a new contract with Notts.

His assist record is nothing short of spectacular and shows his importance to our attacking strategy. Beyond his statistics, Jones’ ability to adapt and improve his game demonstrates his commitment to the club.

Stuart Maynard praising Jodi's defensive efforts is particularly encouraging, as it shows he's becoming a more well-rounded player. His skill on the right wing this season has been a key factor in our success. It's reassuring to know he’ll be part of our team until 2027. Here's to many more assists, goals, and unforgettable moments from Jodi!

This is fantastic news today for Notts and their supporters, however it is great news for the team.

Jodi has been an inspiration since he became a regular in the side. Who cannot forget his winner against Borham Wood that will be a part of Notts folk law for ever

And Jodi keeps breaking records like he did last season with his record assists & this season he has started in the same vein.

Jodi's signing, is the icing on the cake after a brilliant summer of transfers into the Club, & it means that the owners are sending a serious message by intending to take this club forward to the next stage.

I’m really excited about Jodi Jones renewing his contract. Since joining from Oxford United, he's consistently performed and provided many memorable moments for the fans. Head coach Stuart Maynard's comments on Jones’ improvement show just how vital he is to our strategy, both offensively and defensively. Whether he’s setting up goals or now becoming a scoring threat himself, Jodi's adaptability on the right wing has been a standout this season. Keeping him at Meadow Lane till 2027 is a big win for Notts. The future looks much brighter with Jodi in our ranks.

We can't overstate how important this new deal is. I hope it's a straightforward contract without a release clause. He's crucial for our promotion and for building a strong team, which we're working hard to achieve. Getting the best out of Jodi is key.

All we need now is for Dan Crowley to sign on the dotted line. Jodi Jones is a class player, and his extension will be big news on and off the pitch. The way things are going, I wouldn’t be surprised if Crowley joins Jones. I always felt like he would remain a Notts player.

It’s great to have JJ committed to a longer contract. There will always be interest in him while he plays so well, but at least we won’t have to worry about his deal running out until 2027.

It’s the best news we could have asked for. We just need to sort out Dan Crowley’s deal now, but Jodi Jones agreeing to a new deal is big news.

I am happy to see Jodi commit to the club. This kind of deal should encourage other players to stay focused on reaching the targets the club has set out.

There’s no denying Jodi is a cut above this level, and when fired up, he can be extremely entertaining to watch.

It’s the best news we could have hoped for at this stage. Yes, some fans will be hoping that Dan Crowley follows, but Jodi Jones committing is a big significance for Notts. He’s a class player, with concerns due to his previous injuries, but it hasn’t stopped him lighting up Meadow Lane. He’s a great talent, deserving to be considered a legend, and it’s nice to see the club able to sort out his deal. It gives us strength and less worry, as the club might have had to start considering replacements had it not happened this early in the season.

Securing Jodi Jones' signature until 2027 is an incredible achievement for Notts. His 24 assists record is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to his influence on the pitch. Not only has he been a consistent creator for his teammates, but his growth as a goal threat and defensive player shows his all-around development. With his continued stellar performances, Jones is destined to lead the Magpies to greater heights in the coming seasons. His ability to adapt and excel, particularly on the right wing, makes him a crucial part of our strategy moving forward. Well done to the club for sealing this deal!
