York City have taken a 2-0 half-time lead against Notts County in today's League Two match at Bootham Crescent, both goals coming largely against the run of play.
The Magpies, buoyed from having won both away games under new manager Jamie Fullarton and with new man Jason Banton in their starting XI ahead of the game, started brightly and notched up eight corners in the first 20 minutes alone.
York, however, struck unexpectedly midway through the first half when Michael Coulson caught Roy Carroll off his line and struck a ball goalwards which looped over the stranded Notts keeper and into the net.
Fullarton's charges set about trying to get back into the game and forced another corner as the Minstermen continued being under the cosh, but the hosts grew with confidence and struck again seven minutes before the break, a well-worked move finished off by Bradley Fewster from three yards out.
