Footballers with holey socks

Have you ever wondered why you see some players with holes in the backs of their socks? I thought it was the work of moths but here is the reason.

Proud to be a Notts County Supporter for over 60 years.

It's all the rage, Jake was telling me about it - supposedly it reduces injuries, but you are not supposed to do it (he says).

I used to get told by my old duty head of year (managed my school's team) that socks help avoid injuries. I know if I were to ever knock a muscle or something like that, I'd rather it is tight and supported. God knows if it's just an excuse or an actual thing.

A field where dreams become reality.

it makes me laugh, because they look so awful. does it really cause injuries because they are too tight? why do they have a new pair for every game, surely they get washed with the shirts? its just one of those things one person started doing and others are tagging along.
