Trophy - The Foxes (H)

Team: Leicester City U21

Date: 12/11/2024

Where: Meadow Lane

What line-up should Stuart Maynard opt for? What will be the key areas for the Magpies to get a victory? What do you think the final score will be?

Have your say below, join in with the Pride of Nottingham match discussion.

Depends on how Stuart Maynard views the Importance of this Competition or if he Prefers to Concentrate on the League and a FA Cup run. If it's the Former he'll need to put out his Strongest side, with the Risk of further injury to members of the First Team Squad, yes I know injuries can happen in any match, but playing regular First Teamers without giving them time to Rest and Recuperate from slight Knocks and little Niggles in a Match such as this, could Result in the Notts injury list growing, something which needs to be Avoided.

If it's the Latter then a Team full of Fringe players and Academy Players will surfice. Either way it should be a Win for Notts on Home Turf. Strongest Side Magpies 3-0. Second XI Notts 2-1.

I think that this game should not be on Stuart's priority listΒ

I would just play available squad players with a mix of Academy players for this match.

We cannot afford any more injuries to key first teamers, with a tough game coming up away against Crewe.Β

I think that Notts need to play their squad players tonight, & some Academy players.

My team would be

Slocombe.

Ness, McDonald, CundyΒ

Martin, Hinchy, Abbott TsaroullaΒ

Reynolds, Cisse, Brown.

Substitutes, Bass, Sanderson, Crowley, Robertson, McGoldrick, Muir, BedeauΒ

More experience on the bench if needed. Didzy may need a few minutes as well as Robertson and Crowley.

Β

Β

Got to hope Didzy or Crowley get minutes in time for Saturday

GK Sam Slocombe

RCB Lucas Ness

CB Robbie Cundy

LCB Rod McDonald

RWB Madou Cisse

CM Ryley Reynolds

CM Jack Hinchy

LWB Josh Martin

CAM Sam Austin

CAM Charlie Gill

ST Jevani Brown

After 24 mins the match is fairly even with possession evenly distributed on both sides. Both sides have had several shots on goal but we await a breakthrough.

Notts 0 Leicester 0: 24 mins.

GOOOOOAAAAAL. SCOTT

Β

What a way to announce your return, fantastic goal. Maybe he could have shot earlier, but moves it 5 yards to his right and there was nothing the keeper could do." - StallardΒ

I’m watching this on Sky Sports+ and to be fair the Leicester lads are unlucky to be behind, a good goal from Scott though, good to see him back.

Update.

Leicester are having the better of it since the Notts goal.

Notts 1 Leicester 0. 44 mins.

Β

Ahead at the break

"Leicester have dominated possession, they have shown the quality but they have not found a way to breach this Notts County defence." - StallardΒ

A win for Notts.

On the balance of play, they were the second best team. Leicester had all the individual quality but could not find a way through and that's credit to Notts." - StallardΒ

A typical Notts performance tonight. Absolutely rock solid at the back once again. I'll take these 1:0 wins all season if we can keep getting clean sheets.Β

Pleased for Ceds tonight, getting the only goal and well taken tooΒ

Also pleased fo Sam Slocombe who's taken some stick over the last few months but as achieved a clean sheet tonight.

And a big shout out for the youngsters who played their part in a good win tonight.

Those comments are a bit harsh from Stal as our side was really young apart from a sprinkling of senior players.Β

Really happy for Cerwyn to come back and get his first goal of the season, hopefully this will be the kick start he needs to get himself back on track.

Ironic that after last years debacle in the competition, we put up a decent showing this season but it’s still not enough to get through. Swings and roundabouts but could have done with getting through and having a couple more competitive games for our squad players.
