Notts County are lining up a move for St Johnstone striker Craig Beattie

CraigBeattiecelebHeartsvHibsMar2012_2735Sky Sports understands Notts County are lining up a move for St Johnstone striker Craig Beattie.

Notts County are in the market for striking reinforcements after allowing Lee Hughes to leave Meadow Lane for Port Vale.

Magpies boss Keith Curle has held a long-term interest in former Celtic and West Brom striker Beattie and tried to sign him in the summer.

Curle is now ready to rekindle his interest in Beattie as he looks to fill the void left by Hughes' departure.

Beattie is well down the pecking order at St Johnstone and he has only made four appearances all season so he could be tempted to move on in search of regular first-team football.

Wouldn't be a half bad signing in my opinion, Craig as some good experience. I'll wait to see there's any truth in this before commenting further but I don't agree with some comments I have noticed regarding him being a 'reject'. Many decent players find themselves being released.

Yes could be a good signing but lets wait to see if its true first.

According to Colin Slater on Radio Nottingham Matchtalk "Notts have no plans to replace Hughes"

Lee Hughes is still a quality player despite being a "reject".

Both are good players, we will have to see if he does sign if its even true though first.

According to the Nottingham post Beattie trained with Notts yesterday.

Supposedly Colin Slater said on Radio Red that he is in view to sign. I'm not one to be negative towards Colin but I'm finding him to be very disappointing, somewhat confusing too.

If he proves you wrong, will you start to be positive? At least try, it's a win, win situation for your health and for the club.

Well let's give him a chance eh? He hasn't even signed yet let alone kicked a ball for Notts. Hopefully Keith Curle and his scouts know a bit about what is needed at Notts and if they think Craig Beattie fits the bill then I am prepared to give him a chance, lets just see.

Must admit his scoring record is not that good. But we have to trust that management feel they cat something out of him.

Will just have to see what happens.

I dont trust the management tho and i was right bout iwelumo when i said it was bad signing and got nothing but crap for it and think i will be right bout beattie aswell kinda funny tho coz didnt take fans long 2 agree either
