Local newspapers in Sheffield are reporting that Sheffield United have parted company with Danny Wilson following last night's 2-0 loss at home to Crawley Town. That defeat left United six points adrift of second placed Bournemouth although they still have two games in hand, so automatic promotion is still achievable but I think it's fair to say they're nowhere near the side they were last season. Could be said that when Ched Evans went to jail, their ruthlessness went.

Think the timing is ludicrous though. If they were going to do it, do it at the end of the season. I really dont see what difference sacking him at this time of the season will make.

Wonder who they'll get as a replacement. Neil Warnock to return to his boyhood club? Appleton?

And another one bites the dust! I really don't understand this. The timing is ridiculous but i don't really know anything of the politics at Sheff Utd. I do agree with Weymouth though about Ched Evans being missed.

Odd, tuned out tonight. Focusing my little guy, he's been in the wars much like myself.

Danny Wilson I think had a little issue with fans, some I know dislike him and although this is football, i am surprised. He hasn't done enough but Sheffield United seem to be in a rush, hope they miss out.

This is unbelievable I am at a loss for words, the football world has gone crazy.

It would definitely be worth having a few quid on Warnock taking over.

When they came down to league 1, their fans expected and demanded immediate promotion back to the Championship. The fact they missed pretty much threw it away last season, and their unconvincing season to date are probably the reasons for it. Wilson's Wednesday connections probably meant the knives were sharpened for him from the off, and with every little thing that went wrong he was going to be jumped on

What strange timing-an important upcoming game v. Swindon on Saturday too.

I understand Warnock is hinting at a position as director of football.
