The Olympic Stadium

@[member="Blackville"] and I were at the second RL test England vs. New Zealand last weekend at the Olympic Stadium. What will it be like for football there?

Not good in my view. Behind the goal you are far too far away from the action, a bit like the old Wembley. I don't think it's well designed for a good atmosphere, it's still more an athletics stadium, albeit without the track, than one for any code of football.

Also there are nowhere near enough food and drink outlets.

It should be kept as the home of British Athlectics IMO. Kids need encouragement to get of their games consoles and out playing sports as we're turning into a nation of obese kids and adults. Turning it into a football ground for over paid foreign players to act in is a crap idea.

i dont know but i was disappointed when it was handed straight to a premiership team, was leyton orient the side originally promised it?

i think buildings of this nature should be for multi use, it makes little sense to have something taking space which only gets used every so often. surely the atmosphere can be improved? just like everything else?

No @[member="liampie"], Orient just objected to Wet Sham moving so close to their turf.

I agree with @[member="OP67"] in that it should have been kept for athletics in some form. Oval-type stadia are dreadful for football, the seats behind the goal are furthest from the pitch, and in the first few rows it's difficult to make out the action. Most German used to have grounds like this, but they have been moving away from that and towards more compact British style grounds in the last decades. And for a good reason too!

Can't say I really care about what it's like for football, I do think the money which went into was silly and that perhaps it could have been better built/designed. It doesn't look like a football ground, yet it's similar to the Emirates/Wembley on appearance - in time who knows what it will be like.

I also agree with Liam, it should be used as much as possible.

Yet I think Athletics should be the main use, it's just difficult to see how this would be the first choice with a football team using it as their base.
