Prediction League Trial

I was really pleased that so many people said they'd be happy to take part when I first posted the idea of a prediction league a while back. Everyone's starting to get into the football mood now and there are a lot of pre-season friendlies taking place up and down the country tommorow. So I thought I'd have a little trial of the prediction league, our own pre-season friendly if you like.

I will post SIX fixtures which are all taking place tommorow. All's you have to do is post your predictions for the results on this thread.

Scoring system example:

My prediction for a game: Notts County 2-1 Rotherham United

Correct score (game finishes 2-1 to Notts) - 3 points

Correct result (Notts win, but not by a score of 2-1) - 1 point

incorrect result (Notts draw or lose) - 0 points

Hopefully I've made it clear enough. So here are the six selected fixtures for tommorows prediction league trial:

Alfreton Town v Burton Albion

Bohemians v Derby County

Bournemouth v West Ham United

Doncaster Rovers v Motherwell

Mansfield Town v Nottingham Forest

Nuneaton Town v Coventry City

All games kick off at 3pm, All predictions for those taking part must be submitted by 2:30pm

Please do get involved, weather you are a regular poster or a floating visitor. The more people we get taking part, the more fun it will be! :)

Thanks to all who took part, it'd be even better if we had more people taking part. Obviously the more people we have taking part the better. Hopefully during the season when there's a few days notice more people will notice whats on :)

Congratulations @notts-joe, you've won the pre-season friendlies prediction league friendly

Sadly, I've been relegated :P

It's only pre-season and its getting competetive already ;)

That's fighting talk Tony! Game on!! :D

I have to be honest, I expected to finish where Weymouth did or around mid table. Super Ram usaully does very well with these so I thought he would have pinched it but it's great to see how everyone did. Great fun :)

When the season starts I suspect more will be taking part.

Cheers James! Well Done everyone!

Ps. I expected better of WeymouthPIE :P

I will probably regret my bold words when the real games begin. Things you wished you'd never said.

Oh ,Mr. Hateley, too late for regrets. You've well and truly thrown down the gauntlet.

Well done Joe and everyone who had a go.

Thanks, Weymouth, for taking the time on the post. I'm sure more members will enter next time and make it even better.

RIGHT,Mr. Hateley, lets have a look at the facts of the situation.

This was a pre-season trial and as such the results don't give a true reflection on members abilities. For a start not many members reported for training. When we get to the season proper I think you'll find your taking part in a bigger league(so more competition)

Being a senior player ,you have the advantage of experience(as I do and Granny too) but I hope we can add further experience if we can persuade the likes of MedMick and Sadlad to join us.

.Then there is the fitness level.Joe did very well,.as he is still getting over his knee injury and is struggling with hayfever. and I'm recoverng from surgery but hope to be fully fit soon.

Weymouth has just returned from holiday, so was a bit out of touch, but he and all the other younger members, like Liam,Upthepies,Cheeky  ,Muddy(yes you're a young member)  will be out to prove that they can compete at the highest level.

So you see Mr '.I'll wipe the floor with you all' Hateley you are already the player everyone will want to beat ,so you may regret your bold words very much.. :demon:

Bring it on!! :happy banana:

I came back from my summer hols full of enthusiasm, there is definitely a buzz around me and now I've had a good pre season I can't wait to get the proper campaign kicked off, the manager has shown his faith in me and I want to repay him, I feel as long as I can remain injury free I am confident I can be there or thereabouts at the end of the campaign.

I've been listening to football players cliches too long. :joker:

Over the moon then, youth.  (I've read too many posts on the forums)

In a serious mood, I'm surprised we got anywhere near with our forecasts. We had no form to help.Teams from different levels were playing each other(and look what happens in cup matches) Also teams were swapped about as managers looked at all  options.

I tuned in to Radio Derby for updates on the Rams match v Bohemians and thought Weymouth had made a mistake when a report for ILKESTON (not Mansfield) v that lot came on but no ,a florist side won 2-0.

I'd like to add my thanks to Weymouth too.

I'm so pleased with how everyone seemed to enjoy the trial at the weekend, so I'm going to keep it going and so a mini league if you like, for games taking place tommorow night and this coming Saturday.

Scores will start again from 0 for those of us who took part in the first trial so that anyone else who wants to join in gets an even chance :)
