Can't really agree. You don't get extra points for being young.

Comparison to Fitzsimons isn't really fair. Fitzsimons had a lot less in front of him, not to say he covered himself in glory, either.

Schofield didn't have a great deal to do, he did well to punch some crosses, he dropped one, and he himself will maybe be a bit gutted he didn't get something on the goal, from the distance it was struck into the bottom corner.

Put Ross back in goal and see the same thing happen as before.

Besides he played the following away game after Ryan made his debut and that was the same team almost that Schofield did well with. I am certain people will still see the difference but seeing complaints about him dropping the ball or looking nervous makes me laugh.

Anyway, I was explaining how a young keeper would naturally be nervous. I never said he deserved points for being young, so that's stretching things.

Firstly, he didn't play "superbly well", he had a slightly below par game in my opinion.

In my opinion he did, he strengthens the defence with his commanding of the area and he always instructs the players in front of him very good. Your opinion is yours, it doesn't make you right at all.

Sometimes people don't value or see the little things players do, I get some will only judge keepers based on their saves etc.

It's still wrong in my eyes.

I realise it doesn't make me right, but I'm still struggling to see how he played "superbly well".  To play superbly well he would have had to make a string of brilliant saves, and he didn't make a single difficult save!  I also realise it's about more than just saves, and he may have communicated with the defence well but his kicking was average.  I suppose your definition of "playing superbly well" is rather different to mine.  This isn't meant to come across as just criticism of him, because I did highlight some positives in my earlier post.  It was just an appraisal of his performance against Lincoln.

oh c'mon now 🤣

just being a bit petty quoting that, clearly you judge and rate a player based on their all round game which is what i mean. you know that.

commanding, positioning, communication [different], organising of the defence, distribution, handling, saves.

some just go on what they see on a screen which does not give the full picture, keepers very rarely get praised for the work they do off the ball. so oh c mon yourself.
