The Real Tony Hateley

I didn't go to last Saturdays match but my next door neighbour did and he bought me a programme for the match, I have been reading it today and in Colin Slater's column he said that Tony Hateley was very ill and "fighting for his life".

My thoughts are with Tony and I really hope he pulls through.

Very sad. Tony has suffered with Alzheimer's for a while now. Last time he was at the ground with Les Bradd he still managed to enjoy the games and spoke, briefly, to a few fans.

Best wishes to him and his family. Nice bloke and a true Notts legend.

All the best to Tony Hateley. I remember, whilst he was playing for Liverpool, he put 4 past Walsall in Liverpool's 5-2 FA Cup win at Anfield in 1968.

I've just read this after a friend message me with regards to his health. I didn't really know about it until Tony mentioned it here - I didn't realize that Liverpool fans had this much respect for him. It says a lot about him as a player!

A couple of Liverpool fans have sent their regards also.
