  1. Harrison Iwunze & Theo Robinson have joined Kettering Town on loan. Good luck to them both.
  2. We can beat anyone in this league when we are on it. Let's hope we are on it this Saturday. I think our problem is we can't sustain a good performance for the whole game. We either start well and fade of start poorly and give our selves a mountain to climb. We have to start taking our chances while we are top that's seems to be what's missing.
  3. Well I won’t be there for this match so I predict an exciting fast paced match, Notts will dominate for the whole 90+ minutes and we’ll win 5-0. You heard it here first.
  4. Thank you Chris for all your hard work, it really is much appreciated. 👍👌👏

  7. Thanks @Robbie The forecast says it’ll warm up a bit by Saturday so hopefully the pitch will be fine, enjoy the match give them a shout for me.
  8. Notts need to show more intensity from the word go against Colchester & put them under pressure. I'd play the starting eleven that took the field against Harrogate, but I would play Palmer instead of Iorpenda & put Iorpenda on the bench. We know that Martin Paterson can change things around if things aren't working in the first half. Hopefully that won't happen this time. I'm hoping for a convincing win on Saturday. A 3:1 win for Notts would be a great result & should keep Notts in the top four.
  9. Palmer back in to start for sure. I wouldn't mind unchanged apart from that, we won the second half with Palmer on after all. Jarvis to come on, Jodi as well if he's fit.
  10. Looks like some more exciting developments in the pipeline, & a thank you @Chris for your hard work behind the scenes.
  11. He definitely can. And oppositions wouldn't enjoy it. No.10 looks a hard position to play in L2. Somebody up your xxx all the time and defenders everywhere you turn. It already seems a long time ago that McGoldrick and Crowley showed they could live with that and produce goals/assists. Hall and Grant are doing OK but are not in that league so things could change there over the course of the season.
  12. Ideally, we would be getting youngsters involved in first team football earlier, but I suppose that relies on interest and people actively trying to network our young talent. It's a good move for both; any exposure early on is an insight. I hope they come back and are able to see what their careers might hold, even if it does end up away from us.
  13. My focus is turning to the engagement side; things have gone too quiet, and I don't like it, but I am not worried. I know that when content goes out, that is a big attraction, and I noticed a nice submission, which I am going to push today. That said, I will be sending out weekly newsletters as I am in the process of building the template. It will be good to have that communication out there, but it won't be all links and hoping people click to read; I will be sharing my thoughts and having guests join in. It should be something members enjoy and, in time, look forward to reading. So, despite things being fairly quiet, I am making the best of the situation. My keyboard is so far behaving, but there are a few broken buttons, and I am not sure why. I have looked; it seems they have died at the keyboard level. My youngest daughter is currently referring to me as the "wind," as we fell out over her stabbing me with her hands in my neck and pretending to cut my head off. 🤣 It's a Henry VIII thing. She'll come round in time, but it does hurt when she catches me where my neck skin is very flexible.
  14. I am not worried that they beat Walsall, 2-0, despite them having been away at the Bescot Stadium. It was a good result for them, and I am sure that they will be one of the better teams we will have faced so far at Meadow Lane, but our atmosphere can be a lot more impressive. We are in good form at home, and all it takes is one of the chances to kick-start us, so I am hopeful we will be direct and straight to the offensive in order to put the U's on the back foot. This might sound controversial, but we are not the same without Matt Palmer, whereas people tend to go on about Jodi Jones, who is a brilliant player when he is playing well and focused. However, we have learned to cope without him, and this isn't something we have shown many signs of with regard to Matt Palmer. Ollie Norburn is okay, but he hasn't established himself yet; however, he can do well. Tom Iorpenda is a decent talent and can unlock play, but neither of those are what Palmer brings. He's calm, focused, and, most of all, great at setting the temp. With him in the team and us playing well, we can control and dictate play, whereas without him we tend to struggle. I think the game will be close, but I am thinking we will pick up the points. My prediction would be 2-1.
  15. Introducing PON's Lightweight Fluid theme. This is designed to help members, with the navigation moving from the top to the left side. The theme will see some tweaks to improve the UI as we go along, but I am pleased to say all members have the option to choose it. With the side navigation, it gives a clearer look into the pages that the Pride of Nottingham has to offer. To accompany the alternative means of finding content, such as our dashboard, topicfeed, all activity, and various content streams, which you can even customise to your desire. The community index page becomes a beautiful, fluid design, which brings all the content into a single location. Much like the dashboard, items are spotlighted and featured, but in the right sidebar, you have the power to toggle off various forums. This means you can personalise your experience and focus on what really gets you communicating. However, I strongly encourage members to browse and go outside of their habits; please don't cut off a section, never to read the topics inside, because you never know what they might miss. We are a community that thrives when people feel at home to share things, and despite us being a Notts County fan site, we are foremost a community. How do you use the fluid theme? Scroll to the bottom, look for "Theme" in the footer, and press it. Now, please get posting. I mean, enjoy!

  20. Hope you both have a nice break @Fan of Big Tone We were promised some snow here but it didn't materialise although it has been cold all day. Hope that Notts have the pitch covered against the cold just in case.
  21. @super_ram thanks mate, it’ll be a week of celebrations for Mrs. T’s 70th if we actually get there through the snow, I was watching the news and it looks pretty bad up there. We’ve got wifi so I’ll be able to get on here, so I’ll let you know.
  22. For two home games running we've seen the same slow-paced Maynard-style ball for entire first halves which hasn't been the possession with a purpose we were promised. There hasn't been a particularly intense press against us, in fact they've been very willing to see our defenders with the ball at their feet. Macari and Bedeau haven't injected any positivity or adventure into our play. Balls across the backline or to the feet of tightly marked wing backs in deep positions won't get us anywhere at all. We have to have the option of being dynamic down the middle. There's cover if those wide CBs surged forward and committed players and I think we really need them to do that a lot more.
  23. On Saturday Notts welcome Colchester United to Meadow Lane. How many links can we find between the clubs, players, managers, coaches etc. My starter for ten is Liam Chilvers who played for Notts on loan in 2001-2002 making 9 appearances and scoring 1 goal, he played for Colchester between 2003 and 2006 making 113 appearances scoring 3 goals. He turned up at Notts again in 2010-2012 and made 38 appearances with no goals. (Source Wikipedia) Can you spot a link between Notts and Colchester?
  24. I think we can all agree that having Matt Palmer back will be a big boost. At the same time, we should ask how much we are missing Rod McDonald in defence. He has made a clear impact since joining the squad, and I believe he is one of the more alert centre backs we have. I want Notts to move past the draw, aim for a win and play with confidence. If the lads enjoy themselves, it will feel like less effort as long as the goals come our way.
  25. It's been a sunny but cold day here once again. Mrs R managed to get some washing done & hung out to dry. Looks like it's going to get milder again over the weekend.
  26. Absolutely (as Stall might say :) ) He's a real game changer. That gliding ability is something else. It's funny because it doesn't look like its pace that's doing it. It was the same with players like John Robertson and John Barnes - it's a pretty rare ability. Why would MP hesitate? Hall and Jarvis? If they both have sleepy games a whole section of our team would be missing and we'd miss Grant's pressing and general defensive work. Jarvis behind 2 strikers? That's a lot to put on a player not known for his work ethic or reliability. I, and many other fans, maybe you too Piethagoram, would do this but I'm not sure MP would.
  27. Thanks for this info about Jack Hinchy's situation @theAnticlough . I think Notts should be looking to bring him back, but I suppose he couldn't be included in the squad because Notts have already named their squad. For me, he's as good as it not better than Norburn in the central midfield role. Jack has made 25 appearances for Notts in a season where Notts made the playoffs. Sitting on a bench or not even making the bench for Altrincham is not a good look.
  28. I've noticed Jack Hinchy hasn't started for Alty for maybe 2 months now, from the team to a sub to an unused sub to not in the squad at all. We have players in the same boat with us. When loans don't work out it's really bad for all three parties. Must be hard for the players, a real test of belief and resiliency.
  29. @Chris and Appiah had also played for Brackley Town too

  35. The American spelling & obscure words certainly makes the game challenging. Apparently there are thousands of words spelt differently. I've noticed quite a lot of differences when doing the spelling bees.
  36. I hope you and Mrs T have a lovely break and the weather isn't too bad
  37. I hope for more energy and urgency right from kick off and all the way through 90 plus minutes
  38. Just had a call from the owner of the cottage we are staying in and they have had quite heavy snow the schools are closing but the roads are clear at the moment, she says we can get there earlier than the 4pm check in so we aren’t travelling in the dark. She sounds really nice. Hopefully the weather is improving and the snow will be gone.

  40. Guess who’s going to Yorkshire tomorrow for a week! I don’t mind snow when we’re there but not to drive in while we travel there.
  41. Good morning all. It's zero degrees here& it's forecast not to get above 3 degrees all day. Snow has been forecast for Yorkshire so there may be a possibility that we might get a dusting here. In warmer climes. The Ashes series starts tomorrow in Perth Australia at 02:20 GMT. The first of five Tests. I'm looking forward to it. It's going to be a very competitive series. Australia do have injuries with two of their important bowlers missing the first Test. Can England take advantage?

  43. Morning all, -1.2 overnight so a frosty start here. We had a lovely Indian meal last night with our family, we went on the bus so we could have a drink, our son drove with his family as he wasn’t drinking, when he drove back there was an accident which had closed the road and he quickly realised that we’d be stuck in traffic on our bus, so he sent us a message while we were waiting for the bus to go back in the restaurant and he would come back for us as he knew a back route so he dropped the family off at home and came back to fetch us. Bless him.
  44. My take is that I hope Saturday’s performance is the kick up the backside the team needed. Let’s face it, we should have won that game easily. Hopefully now, they will be back on it this weekend as Colchester will make it even more difficult than Harrogate did.
  45. Another player is midfielder Paul Dyer, who started his career at Notts as a youth player, who made 7 senior appearances for Notts between 1972/75 & then 144 appearances for Colchester between 1975/80.
  46. The recent, easy one is our 5yr RB, RCB, RB Richard Brindley
  47. Yes I noticed there were a lot of sites down it wasn’t just PoN, nowt you could do gaffer just needs time for Cloudfare to resolve it.
  48. Will Jarvis gave it a good go and showed some promise, but he’ll need more time to earn regular minutes ahead of Keanan Bennetts and Nick Tsaroulla when they’re playing well. They’ve got the edge when they’re in form. It was nice to see Jarvis back in action. His biggest challenge seems to be lasting the full 90 minutes. That might sound a bit harsh, and I know some people rate him, but he’s a different kind of player when he comes off the bench. He brings more energy in short bursts. Notts did most things right against Harrogate. It was a tense game and you could see how easily someone might have been sent off out of frustration. Matthew Dennis was lucky not to be punished for that push after his penalty. The Harrogate player did barge into him and looked like he said something, but Dennis still took a risk.
  49. It's a very cold day here. I have been monitoring the temperature outside and it has just gone above freezing for the first time today. Looks like it will be a another cold night. We haven't had any snowfall here. The sky has cleared somewhat this afternoon so the temperature will be going back down very soon.. pleased that we managed to get the grass cut the other day.
  50. Mark Yeates, a winger, who played for Colchester in two spells, 2005/6 & 2007/9 making a total of 116 appearances & scoring 25 goals, & Notts in 2014 when he made 14 appearances
