  1. 10 games remaining, all of which are make or break. With it getting to the crunch time, it's important more than ever to get three points. I'm not confident despite many fans telling me that they're optimistic about Notts gets a win. I can see it easily ending as a draw unless work has been done with regards to us sitting back too deep. I seriously would convert the system back to 3 CB's and then have wing backs. Try to get the ball forward more and tighten up in the centre.
  2. The fault today is the in-game tactics and midfield. If there was more effort and smarter play from the midfield, Notts would have controlled the game. Port Vale looked useless in midfield, however they took control and looked better as a result of that. If Notts kept the ball down, passes it around and made good runs - it would have completely been a different game. There was little to no service for the strikers. Jon Stead should have been the first off, we needed pace and although Virgil Gomis was very poor. He did force the play, issue again was the fact that too many players played below average. Ryan Schpfield did well, most of his kicking was fine. Very few times did anyone other than CMS or Stead try to get it down.

  4. Former Notts County defender Thierry Audel has completed his UEFA B License in football coaching. The French born player currently plays for Welling United in the National League South whilst under tutorship of Chris Fairclough, who played for Notts County during the 1998/99 season. He continues to work towards further establishing his new business venture Audelsports. It started in Leicester and has progressed and now extended to Nottingham. He told PON exclusively; "I have been my own client during all those years of Football and I also had the chance to learn from high standard professionals. β€œI decided that it was time to share, but with my own philosophy.” Thierry also said, "I have big plans for Audelsports. It is growing very fast. I dedicate time to my Personal Training activity in Nottingham and Leicester and will keep extending to try and satisfy all the needs. β€œFitness is very important for many reasons. Self-confidence, Stress, Mood, Weight, Energy but MOST importantly... Your Health. Notts County has been very available in sorting me out a classroom to help me complete my UEFA B License Presentation." When asked about the current season for the magpies, he replied β€œI keep checking Notts County Fc results wishing them the very best. β€œI always had a great relationship with the club. As I am training people in Beeston, Nottingham from time to time. I like to stop by to say Hi. Actually, I brought my son to the home game against Cambridge United a few weeks ago.” Notts County currently sits rock bottom of the League Two table, 5 points adrift from safety and 2 points behind Macclesfield Town. 5. The Newport game was a tactical error on Neal Ardley's part and a blip. I can see what he tempted to do and hopefully the fresher legs can help, however he's seen what happens when CMS doesn't start and if he has to rest him or Jon Stead - he needs to ensure one starts. I feel the game will be a draw, probably 2-2. It really wouldn't surprise me if Notts led 2-0 and conceded two goals in the second half.
  6. I think Neal Ardley's made sensible 'team' signings, Jorge Grant would have been another luxury. I feel he's worth a few points just due to his sheer quality but I would question how he could fit into the squad we have now - without looking like he did for Mansfield this past Saturday. He looked empty and unable to change the game, I rate him but I feel he's best suited elsewhere. Mansfield should be a good fit if they manage to get more time for him on the ball, I'm personally happy with the January signings we got.
  7. Newport County will play a lot like Mansfield Town, dirty and trying anything to slow the game down. They'll want to dictate the tempo and if we allow them to get a foot hold of the game, I think it will be more open. However I am confident that with the up lift in form, Notts can get back-to-back wins. Amazing turn around, yet I would be more than happy with a draw. A win just means so much more!
  8. Pride of Nottingham was at Meadow Lane to see Notts County put in their best performance of the season in a 1-0 win over Mansfield Town - see if you've made it in this week's Faces of PON! Please help share the gallery if you featured or know someone who has been. You Pies!!
  9. I felt Notts played very well, not just for one half or 75 minutes but the whole game. Defensively, I never felt like Mansfield would score largely down to how tight and restricted our defence and midfield made them play, their game changes couldn't do anything and Jorge Grant looked like he did towards the end of last season for us. I felt the strike by Craig Mackail-Smith was a fantastic strike, I knew it was going in the moment the ball bounced straight in front of him. It's a good technical shot, well struck and well placed. Seriously the teams passion is spot on and Michael Doyle seems to be a ball buster, I'm not suggesting this is a bad thing but there's times he should just try to be happy for others. What a difference he and Jim O'Brien have made.
  10. I'm far from confident, I fear that it could lead to a small blip but I would happily take a draw. We won't win every game, so we have to be realistic and our record against Mansfield is shocking. Yes time has to change and if the players did do this, well it would be smashing but I certainly don't expect it.

  12. Exactly the result needed for Notts, it sounded like a good game - I didn’t listen as I was out but I noticed we led. Then some time after it was 1-1. Glad Notts win! It’s a great feeling.
  13. I feel the games winnable but I do have that feeling that Lincoln City came last Saturday thinking the same and we made them work. The key would be to control the game and remove any sort of pressure from the back, I think Ryan Schofield needs to start because he's actually improved things quite a lot for me. He's always speaking to the defenders and appears to have a mutal understanding with whoever plays in the CB positions. Jon Stead can't start on his own, Craig Mackail-Smith for me will be a live wire - getting him fired up could see him create chances or even score them. I agree, as I mentioned above it's important we go into the Forest Green Rovers game with a mindset of working hard. The away performances this season have lacked, especially considering the following and support given. Hopefully we'll see improves made here, yet for me I would be more confident if the game was played at Meadow Lane. That said, I do think we can win.
  14. I went to the game saying whenever asked about the score, it will either end 1-0 to Notts or 3-1 to them. My heart said we could win, my head was nervous and cautious due to the mistakes previously. This was a team performance and the standard we should have seen sooner. Man of the Match is hard due to this, however Craig Mackail-Smith worked tiredlessly and he's a lot like Jon Stead but a little more direct. Seriously seeing him chase dead balls made me feel proud, the team worked well. It was nice to the players expressing themselves, Lincoln never deserved the penalty - it was a dive for me and I'm pleased they snuffed. I do think Ryan Schofield would have saved it if it was on target, he did very well. In fact all the player did, Rob Milsom looked like a new player. I hope this is the start of the upturn.
  15. There's nothing wrong with David Vaughan if he's given the chance to settle and has harder working players around him, Michael Doyle should offer him that and I feel they would make a good partnership - along with Mitch Rose. The signings gives the club a lot more quality, but they don't change much. Most seem to fit the formation Neal Ardley has been working with, so I don't expect massive changes.
  16. I don't want to see Notts play defensive football, so being too deep would really be annoying - unless Ardley managed to get the players countering attacks. I still feel that inviting Lincoln City to play further up the field would be a huge mistake, and one that could cause our defence heaps of trouble. There's got to be a fine balance, as we could do well if 6-7 players gave their all as a team. If only a handful do their upmost, then Lincoln will thrive. Creatively I would like to see David Vaughan in the middle, alongside an engine but not Rob Milsom (please he's been woeful over the last x games). Hopefully we can see what Rose has to offer the club, he could do the job well. Enzio to the side, with someone else doubling up on the right. More importantly Jon Stead needs a partner, he needs someone who can feed him to ball and take off the pressure he naturally finds. Just got to work hard.
  17. Well done to the winners! Please message me in order to collect your prizes. Thank you so much to everyone who took part in the raffle, there's always the next one! If you like something, please do consider making the purchase because it helps the site so much. I hope to do the next one for 20 people only, I will review this one and try to improve it.
  18. I wonder how tense other fans feel? Today's a must perform and a must win game, a draw would be okay but failing to get 3 points would be massively disappointing. The players need to fight more and show more determination, it's okay for the club and certain players to ask us fans not to write them off - yet where's the sign that they will return the backing? Most fans I know would always give their support. Today could open a door or slam one in our faces, I feel for those attending and I hope they can generate a fantastic atmosphere. I am sure they will remind the club that we won't go down without a fight, even if the players are too soft to respond or play with pride. Now is the time to step forward, as I do honestly believe that playing well against Yeovil could see us grab the first away win since Macclesfield. I won't be listening to the game, I feel sick. The fear of relegation is starting to creep in but I'll be sending positive vibes through my friends.
  19. I actually feel like Notts can get something from this game, Yeovil are a real Jekyll and Hyde team at home. The big question is can Notts put together a convincing performance good enough to make them struggle? I think it's possible, if we can get two goals early on in the first half - I do think the game will favour us. However, most likely the game will be decided in the second half. I just hope we can keep Jon Stead fired and up for causing some trouble, as for me he's the player most likely to score. COYP!
  20. 21. I really don't know what to expect. I think Cambridge are sort of in a transition at the moment, they're quite a decent team but it's about how Notts plays. On our day we can cause any side trouble and I think Cambridge are the type of side we should be okay against, just need to ensure we don't allow them easy access to having a shot on goal.
  22. Only 26 participants required to complete the raffle. We have until the 31st of January in order to complete this, let's all do our part and help fund the site. ???????? Thank you for the support.
  23. I still feel quite disappointed because imagine how much of a boost the three points would have been, there's no justification for giving a 2 goal lead away and Colchester by their own admission wasn't very good. I've spoken to fans who have said how both teams looked quite poor. Colchester's have praised how we attacked but have been very critical of our defence, however some of our own fans feel it's perfectly fine in a relegation battle to throw a game away. I mean I would take the point and would have done at the start, it's just the way in which Notts did draw. It's disappointing, once Colchester knocked it back to just a one goal lead for us, we should have done a lot more to protect the back.
  24. 3-2 Scoring before half time can be a massive boost, Notts needs to show more grit and defensive awareness. I hope they can respond in the second half well.
