  1. I don't believe I have met her and, the name doesn't ring any bells but nonetheless it is very sad. Rest in Peace, Chloe Gibson.
  2. I'm not sure Ruben Rodrigues is the king, that has to go to the statitition. Who sits in the stands of every game keeping count of all these wonderful and bizarre facts. Unless it's Ruben who is providing his own data. Surely, if so, he would be quoting something like 80+ haha.... I really wonder what type of person it is that calculates all these touches, passing, shots, etc. Goals is easy, but some are enough to drive you mad. Plus, I just realised, it may be a team of them!
  3. I think we've found our Mystic Meg, @Piethagoram. Pure recommendation, guess or did you know something? I am hoping to go, it depends on the lads though. I might go on my own, if Jake and Cal don't want to make it or can't. I need to check dates with them with regards to pre-season. It's nice to see you back, @shrewswill.
  4. I used to listen to him regularly on YouTube. He used to feature a lot in interviews - much like Dutch Montell. Nothing in wrestling beats watching the golden era of wrestling which he was very much a part of. I'm actually a little taken back by the news. I grew up liking Hulk Hogan, but other years I have learned more to respect people like the Iron Sheik because he told things like it is. Rest in Peace, Iron Sheik.
  5. Hello, @Bigrossco1862. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham, I hope you enjoy being a part of our Notts County community.
  6. Notts County have returned to the English Football League after a four-year absence, thanks to a thrilling penalty shoot-out victory over Chesterfield in the National League promotion final at Wembley. The Magpies came from behind twice in a 2-2 draw, with John Bostock and Ruben Rodrigues scoring late equalisers in normal time and extra time respectively. Substitute goalkeeper Archie Mair then proved to be the hero, saving two penalties in the shoot-out to seal Notts County's promotion. Their head coach Luke Williams, who replaced Ian Burchnall in June 2022, praised his players for their resilience and character. He said: "It was an incredible game, full of drama and emotion. I'm so proud of the boys for never giving up and fighting until the end. They showed their quality and mentality throughout the season, and they deserve this moment." Notts County have been one of the most prolific teams in the National League past season, scoring 107 goals in the regular season and reaching the promotion final with a dramatic extra-time win over Boreham Wood. However, their defence has been a cause for concern, as they have conceded 14 goals in their last 10 games, including two in each of their last two home games. Their head coach Luke Williams has demanded his players to be more "proactive and aggressive" without the ball and to improve their intensity and concentration. He said: "When we have a lot of the ball and want to be attacking, sometimes when we don't have the ball I just feel that sometimes our intensity drops a little bit, and it's just waiting for us to get the ball back and start playing again. I want us to be much more proactive and aggressive." The Magpies' may look to strengthen their defence in the summer transfer window, as they prepare for life in League Two. Here are some potential signings that Notts County might want to consider: Notts County have signed Connell Rawlinson on a two-year deal. The club is still waiting to hear from Kyle Cameron, who has also been offered a new contract. These two defenders are among the seven remaining players from last season’s squad. The Magpies hope to keep the core of their team intact for another promotion push in League Two. With Richard Brindley, Adam Chicksen, Geraldo Bajrami, Tobi Adebayo-Rowling, and Aden Baldwin. The Magpies are hoping to keep the core of their team intact as they prepare for another promotion push in League Two. Defensive players Tom Bradbury Tom Bradbury is a left-sided centre-back who joined Cheltenham Town from Halifax Town in 2022. He helped Halifax reach the National League play-offs last season. He has made 13 appearances for Cheltenham, scoring one goal. He is 25 years old. Bradbury could be a useful option for Notts County’s defence, as he can also play as a left-back or a defensive midfielder. He is quick, agile and composed under pressure. He has also shown his versatility by playing in different formations for Cheltenham last season. Mamadou Jobe Mamadou Jobe is a young and strong centre-back who joined Maidstone on loan from Cambridge United in 2023. He has also played for St Albans, Concord Rangers and St Neots Town. He has made 13 appearances for Maidstone. He is 20 years old. Jobe could be a promising talent for Notts County’s defence, as he has the potential to develop further under Luke Williams’ coaching. He is powerful, athletic and confident on the ball. He has also impressed with his aerial ability and tackling skills for Woking past season. Adam Senior: Adam Senior is a promising and talented centre-back who has been with Bolton Wanderers since he was eight years old. He made his first-team debut in 2019. He has made 4 appearances for Bolton. He has been on loan to Ashton United, York City, Chorley, Telford United and Halifax Town. He is 21 years old. Senior could be an exciting prospect for Notts County’s defence, as he has shown his quality and potential at League Two level with Bolton past season. He is composed, intelligent and brave on the ball. He has also demonstrated his leadership skills by captaining Bolton’s under-23 team. Tom James: Tom James is a skilful and adaptable defender who can play as a centre-back, a full-back or a defensive midfielder. He joined Salford City from Hibernian in 2021. He has made 62 appearances for Leyton Orient, scoring 8 goals. He is 27 years old. James could be a quality signing for Notts County’s defence, as he can play in different systems and roles. He is technically gifted, creative and composed on the ball. He has also shown his defensive awareness, positioning and work rate for Salford last season. Jack Armer: Jack Armer is a defender for Carlisle United. He was born on 16 April 2001 in Preston, England and has represented Scotland at the youth international level. In August 2020, Armer joined Carlisle United after being released by Preston North End. Since joining the Cumbrians, he has scored three goals in 111 games. Armer could potentially be signed to cover Adam Chicksen while also offering support to the centre-back positions. If Carlisle is looking to strengthen their side for life in League One, a reasonable offer may tempt him away from the club. Ajibola Alese: Ajibola Alese is a robust and reliable defender who joined Sunderland last season, where he had previously been at Cambridge United on loan from West Ham United in 2021. He has also played for Accrington Stanley. He has made 20 appearances for Sunderland, scoring one goal. He is 22 years old. Alese could be a smart loan signing for Notts County’s defence, as he has the potential to improve further under Luke Williams’ coaching. He is physical, athletic and confident on the ball. He has also impressed with his consistency, concentration and communication skills for Cambridge past season. Zac Williams: Zac Williams is a young and agile defender who came through the Crewe Alexandra youth ranks in 2021. He has also played for Wales Under 18s and 19s. His season was ended by injury against Ipswich Town. He made 37 appearances for Crewe. He is 19 years old. Williams could be a promising talent for Notts County’s defence, as he has the potential to develop further under Luke Williams’ coaching. He is quick, skilful and composed under pressure. He has also shown his versatility by playing as a centre-back, a right-back and a left-back for Crewe past season. Di’Shon Bernard: Di’Shon Bernard is a skilful and athletic defender who joined Portsmouth on loan in 2023. He previously played for Hull City on loan from Manchester United in 2021. He has also played for Salford City. He is currently out of contract at Manchester United and could be a bargain signing for any League Two club. He has made ten appearances for Portsmouth last past season. He is 22 years old. Bernard could be an exciting prospect for Notts County’s defence, as he has shown his quality and potential at League One level with Portsmouth. He is composed, intelligent and confident on the ball. He has also shown his defensive awareness, positioning and work rate for Portsmouth and Hull City. 7. Joe Jones used to tell me, if a credible source reports something, mention them as the source. For example, Luke Williams told BBC Radio Nottingham or, The Nottingham Post and the BBC, has reported that David McGoldrick has been offered a contract by Notts County. According to reports, it doesn't give any accountability, it's how rumours and fake news spread. This is one thing that peeves me, it's lazy, and I am not even trained. Yet I believe in standards because I don't want to mislead people, clearly the Nottingham Post doesn't. It's apparent that it's too much work to do investigation journalism. Yes, the NEP has joined this race. I don't believe it, I won't report on it unless Notts announces him as a signing and that seems unlikely.
  8. Last time Ruben's contract was up, these places did exactly the same reporting he was off to Norwich, Wolves.... Blah blah The sad thing is, the 72 used to be a good publication online until they started investing in click baiting and spam articles. These players just want the clicks £££. Ironically, ads don't pay that well these days, as the Nottingham Post fully knows.
  9. I have known in the past that some fans on social media, will be like: 'It's only Ireland' or 'they don't have many keepers'. In fact there's quite a pool of players for the Republic of Ireland. I think Tiernan Brooks deserves to be given our 2nd spot, with that faith and a bit of a push he can gain the experience required to take him to that stage. There's no point having a young international that won't gain that experience. I hope we feature him a bit more, especially with the 7 subs. It might allow us to manage Sam Slocombe a little bit better with his repetitive hip injury. Good luck to him, I hope he manages to start.
  10. It's awful. I wouldn't be surprised if certain games are fixed. The amount of shoddy errors that happen and own goals, it's quite suspicious. I mean, I don't expect their level to be all that high, but I have seen 5-year-old kids play better football, games which involve running and just kicking a ball.
  11. I am led to believe that this is just a rumour which has taken the form of a prank to wind up Derby fans. I noticed the 72 and The Football League World are bouncing off each other, along with an amusing tweet. If this is true, the sources wouldn't be so coy about everything. This is why I only mention rumours via PON that are linked to credible sources, as there's zero point mentioning it otherwise. Of course, I wouldn't share a rumour from a non-story approach. Only if it was genuinely written with a manager quote or more intent from the journalist than fair enough. Not these swings and roundabouts. It's quite funny though.
  12. @Fan of Big Tone ran a poll here, which was all at the top end but with a larger amount for upper table (no promotion), I think there's a great chance that Notts could mount a back-to-back challenge. It depends on the start to the season, if we can start strong and maintain good form, then I fully believe we can. I don't blame any fans for being mindful, I would also echo that I wouldn't complain if we didn't have a good go at promotion. Although we require a few new signings, and we have some hopes for the upcoming season, the morale of everyone could be boosted if we secure them. Our fans are enthusiastic and yearn for our team to perform well in League Two. It would be remarkable to get out of this league on our first attempt. It just has to be sustainable.
  13. @Piethagoram: They might aswell hire you now to take the pictures for them. Stunning imagery!
  14. @Fan of Big Tone Aye, I'm working on resolving this. The issue is with CSRF protection. I basically need to make sure old unneeded files are deleted but there are so many it will take time. It's also affected by some of the outdated apps/plugins which work but need a bit of attention. I'm hoping to have it resolved this month or the next. I know you're not complaining. I'm just explaining that I am aware of it and that it's working to be resolved.
  15. I think it would be a step back, whilst he could be more of a short term Jon Stead type signing. We have 3 other players who play up top, I would rather see a youngster given the 4th slot. I mean why give game time to someone who is only going to decline when you already have multiple options ahead of him. David McGoldrick proved his worth with Derby this past season, he's still got goals in him. However, even if he was to play in midfield I think it would take the place of someone who can improve or contribute more. Our recruitment policy doesn't fit this signing time. We don't want to sign a player who might retire after only one season. He's a fan of our club, but other than that he's not done anything for us. If he was truly concerned about Notts, he would've made a return before in his career, perhaps before Sheffield United took him on.
  16. Dear Pride of Nottingham members, We have some exciting updates to share with you this month! The Pride of Nottingham is still undergoing work to improve our features and bring you even more great content. We’re thrilled to announce the return of the very first Notts County podcast, the PONcast. A skilled programmer is fixing an app we use for PONcast and to show the league, teams, and fixtures. We’re also happy to report that our mobile navigation has returned. Guests will now see options for ‘home’, ‘activities’, ‘sign in’, ‘register’ and ‘more’. Members who are signed in will see the third and fourth buttons change to ‘create’ and ‘topicfeed’. We’re still deciding whether to keep the topicfeed as the fourth option, so please let us know your thoughts and suggestions. The 'more' tab shows the complete menu. You can access your notifications and personal messages. You can also set your mood and see your PON rank. It displays how close you are to reaching the next level. We’re pleased with how the site is going and would like to encourage everyone to invite a friend using our invite system. We’ve been regularly hitting our daily post goal and the content has been fantastic. Please continue to add your own discussions, but remember to check the dashboard first in case someone else has already posted on the same topic. Finally, we’d like to take a moment to thank @Piethagoram, @Fan of Big Tone, @CliftonMagpie, @TheSkipper and @liampie for regularly adding new things to talk about. We would like to express our gratitude to all members who have shared their valuable opinions. Your thoughts and responses have been crucial in helping PON evolve, and we look forward to further enhancing our platform with your input. 17. Check out my all time Wordle! stats! 3 Words Guessed 100% Win Rate Average 4 Guesses #WordleApp Join me: http://wordle.fan/3NiynyWCheck Is the the app you're all using? I've only just started playing.
  18. It brings back memories of the goals I usually score on FIFA, where I relentlessly hit the pass button to create gaps in the opponent's heavily defensive formation. It's a cracking goal, if the draw means they won, I think they had quite the luck! The goal deserved it though.
  19. It's not a bad move for either club or player, Ed Francis should continue to get game time and Gatehead have a youngish player that has plenty of time to make further strides. I honestly believe he needed a fresh start, so I hope he has found a team in which he can do this,
  20. You know, I wasn't actually aware of that. I knew our numbers wasn't great but I didn't realise we were that bad I don't think all the fault falls to our centre backs, I think the wingbacks need to cover more and if unable, those in the middle. I am keen to see how Will Randall presses and covers from a defensive stance. I credit Aaron Nemane for stepping up after Wrexham but he can be quite poor offering cover. Likewise with Adam Chicksen, I know many fans say that he can't defend and, is better attacking but he can. It's that balance between the two. I do feel defensively, we will improve though. Then again, it's a must knowing that our record last season was poor.
  21. The high press would work if Kyle Cameron could reign his runs in at times, either that or we have another pacey CB like Aden Baldwin. I think Richard Brindley played superb in the role before his injury, despite preferring him out wide. When teams can't get space on front of them, they will naturally resort to channel runs and hitting the ball over the defence. Notts should find a lot more time on the ball in League Two, but the more tactically aware will still find a weakness. Football is very much like a good game of chess, you can have your strategies and, game plan but ultimately it falls to better players controlling the situation.
  22. Since last Saturday, I've been at Skegness. We leave today, though. It's been action packed and really good fun. I'm hoping when we come back in October, @super_ram will be with us. It's been a bit weird for obvious reasons, but we've spoken a lot about happy memories. Went to a pub called The Lookout on Monday, a popular place we spent many years going in. It's somewhere we tend not to go, but we wanted to have a meal and raise a glass in honour of my mum. The weather's been good, we've been mostly on the beach where I like nodding off. We've also caught many open top buses throughout the week. It's gone very fast, but it's been a joy.
  23. I think it's a fantastic signing, he should do well with Notts. I am pleased that he has goals, it's something which Aaron Nemane needed to increase a bit - if this is his replacement. Don't get me wrong, Nemane is incredible with taking players on, but at times he could score if he shot, but doesn't seem to go for chances unless it's more clear-cut. Will Randall seems like he loves to take people on but also get on the scoresheet. He sounds like someone who enjoys assisting others, so I am confident that his decision-making should be good.
  24. What works for exiles, is the same thing that works for regular fans - I think it just tends to be appreciated more because exiles gain their insight from sites like PON. Whereas regular fans have a first-hand account of games, what's happening and those comments are relayed through to a community. I am sure there are many more things I should note, but I am curious to read what others have to say. With this in mind, I will be taking notes as it's very important.
  25. I went to Wembley for the first time in the early 90s with my grandfather. I remember him putting me on his shoulders and celebrating like we had won the Anglo Italian Cup. Other fond memories include booking an executive box in the earlier PON days, bringing my dad, Mark, and meeting Tony. There are many other times I could share, but I will leave it with this too. I am very lucky to have so many wonderful memories of Meadow Lane, some memories I have pictures of but don't remember have escaped my mind.
