Match Discussion: Game 45 - The Tangerines (H)
I'm going to start off by predicting a 2-1 win for Notts. The game should be fairly lively, though I'm expecting the focus of our opposition to be somewhat elsewhere. If we keep their strikers quiet and retain the ball, pressure will increase on them and although they're a decent side - I can see time and good chances coming our way if we aim to play directly. Of course, if Kevin Nolan decides to play defensive - this will only invite Blackpool to play. So we'll either counter or take what chances come, but that said Jorge Grant could be key due to his eye for goal. The Tangerines won't like players shooting outside of their penalty box.

Notts County cancel end-of-season awards night after Notts County Ladies fold
We normally don't have award nights when we struggle, so despite the turn around under Kevin Nolan - its probably the right thing to do but I'm not sure the ladies needs mentioning at all. I'm 99% certain it would cause them more annoyance than anything, so I do think people on FB summed it up.

Colin Slater to step down from BBC Radio Nottingham commentary
It really is the end of the era for Notts. I saw Colin Slater doing some sort of video/interview when I went to renew my season ticket the other week, he was near to the J&J statue - so I'm not surprised to learn he's stepping back. I am sure we will still see him around Meadow Lane, so it's just time for him to relax after the years of work. All the best Colin.

Kevin Nolan tells out-of-contract Notts County players: 'Make me want to keep you'
I had wanted us to try to keep the majority of the core squad, even during the 10 games defeated run as I am sick of seeing Notts players coming and going. However, I think ideally it would be wise for Kevin Nolan now to build his own squad and then to make sure the players wearing the Notts shirt are those able to remain for a few seasons. We need good players who give 100%, who care and I'm not sure we have enough quality right now.

Match Discussion: Game 44 - The Hatters (A)
It's getting close to kick off, just a few hours a way now but I still feel like we won't be too chuffed about the result. Michael O'Connor will be a loss for us, but hopefully it will present someone else a chance and that they take it. Where's Curtis Thompson? There's several players who have totally disappeared again, almost clockwork each season.

Pompey defeat left me looking forward to next season
Approaching Easter Monday, I was quite excited about the game against Portsmouth. In the back of my mind, I did question the attitude of Notts as we approached the match. The thought of added fire to fuel the game certain may help, yet for me I felt it wasn’t required. Of course I’m referring to the comments made about spoiling/delaying their promotion party, it didn’t work did it? I just didn't feel that the message was the right focus, yet I've mentioned this on social media and across the Pride of Nottingham site so I shouldn't really repeat myself. That’s alright, I found the game to be quite flat for the most part. Early on I hoped to encourage the quietness of the stands, so I put a message up on FB and twitter – I don’t know why, it just seemed like Notts was quite ready for the kick off. I thought Portsmouth’s travelling support made a great amount of noise and the banter between the Kop and the Sirrel Stand (them) was amusing. It seemed like we were nervous as a club, but I’m sure this could explain what we watched play out on the pitch. The early penalty was just silly, I actually seemed to see it in slow motion and even now I believe we could have gotten away with the decision had Duffy not lifted his bloody foot. I don’t know, I kind of feel we see the same happen when we play a big team. I felt the exact same way when we last played Sheffield United and Coventry City back when we was a League One club. And it wasn’t that Notts overly played badly, I do believe Portsmouth just played in a way that limited us – they always seemed to manage to get the ball back. It was only after Jorge Grant scored that things in the stands seemed to wake up, ironically I laughed as I joined in ‘You only sing when you’re winning’ to the Pompey fans. The goal seemed to come out of nowhere, yet it sparked a brief spell where it seem like Notts could get another. I can’t fault any of the performances mind, Jon Stead was always isolated and we missed Shola Ameobi. The midfield was setup well enough to cope with Pompey’s style of play, and the defence just made the same minor errors we have seen all season and have repeatedly been punished by – yet really it was a deserved win for them. After the game I had that sinking feeling, like what will I do from here? It wasn’t remotely about Portsmouth fans celebrating. Just a case of the realisation that our own season had pretty much just ended. Bring on the 2017/2018 campaign! #COYP -- As always before the game I took to recording 'Meet the Fans', which I have also attached just in case you haven't seen it yet. Don't forget to subscribe!

Match Discussion: Game 44 - The Hatters (A)
I used to like Luton as a youngster but not so much since, so ideally I would love to see us win them. Yet I think they will have watched the Portsmouth game, which shows how we can be broken down - just the first two goals. Positional play wasn't great, pressure the defence and we all know what happens. Plus they are a side which likes to be physical and play a style of football which naturally means chances will fall. For this reason, I think they will control the game and probably win by 2 goals. Hopefully our players can remain focused, I know the seasons over for us but I wouldn't think a relapse in the quality would be wise. However, I am not overly worried. If Nolan sets us up right, avoids weak links on the wing and focuses on keeping the ball moving we can play them at their own game.

Alan Hardy hoping to see Notts County celebrate promotion to League One next season
If you strive for success the foundations are paramount. I truly believe that the club can be successful under Alan Hardy, provided we have a manager at the elm who he can work with and support. We have this with Kevin Nolan, so we just need to work hard on identifying the right players and reducing some of the current crop who sadly haven't made the grade. Notts would bring confidence if we had a squad whereby fans felt everyone could contribute. All capable of having runs in the first team, if any fail to meet the high standard we should ensure someone else is given the chance and have people truly fighting for their place in an environment which doesn't adds silly pressure but keeps players on their toes.

Jorge Grant not ruling out Notts County stay
I've been saying for awhile basically what I was told when I appeared on NottsTV, Grant will be kept by Forest if they're relegated but he isn't rated by them allegedly (not at their current level). If they do keep him to see how things pan out, I still hope they'll loan him to us. We've proven we can help nurture the right players, so it would be a good thing. However, we do need quality like him in the summer and there's plenty of options for us. COYP

Meet the Fans: Notts County vs. Portsmouth, Monday 17 April 2017
Easter Monday 2017 turned out to be a positive day for both fans of Notts County and of Portsmouth at Meadow Lane. Although the Magpies fell to a 3-1 defeat, Newport County were thrashed by Plymouth Argyle, confirming for good that Notts would be a League Two side next season. Meanwhile, Pompey ended eight years of hurt with a win that sealed promotion into League and going some way towards exorcising the demons of the last few years. Pride of Nottingham spoke to several fans ahead of kickoff at the Lane and asked a number of questions including whether or not Haydn Hollis should remain at Notts and if the club can do a Pompey next season by putting financial woes behind them and going into the third tier. We hope you enjoy the video! COME ON YOU PIES! Match Discussion: Game 43 - Pompey (H)
You'd never tell that they had the same busy schedule as us, they all looked eager and ready to perform. They had one of the most complete squads I've seen this season, which makes me surprised that we beat them the first time around. Certainly they seem to be in their element now and that made it hard for us! It's brilliant to see, so congratulations on your promotion back to League One. Hopefully Notts can make the use of the balcony of the Pavis Stand, it was inspired by Wembley as our former chairman hoped international games would be selected at Meadow Lane. So, it's good to see it being used and in style. Thanks for coming in good spirit and uniting football! Really this is what the beautiful game is all about.

Portsmouth fans thank Notts County for hospitality on promotion day
I thought Portsmouth fans came in great spirit yesterday, so its good to see a club who's had it's own share of turmoil come good at Meadow Lane and clinch promotion back to League One. I've been overwhelmed with supportive messages, which is a little surreal but just goes to show the unity between football fans. Congratulations to all Portsmouth fans on the clubs promotion, it was well deserved.
