  1. I don't think any football or supporter of a sport enjoys being in the cold. I think standing generally helps, as it keeps you a bit more active, but that's a bit of an issue at football games. The winter months can be brutally cold. I think you need to suggest what @Piethagoram mentioned. Inquire whether the club will supply individual heaters for the Notts fans. ???? Can I just say, I feel let down by the non monorail comment. I hope this is to come in the actual fans' forum topic, Mr Piethagoram!
  2. Actually, the Brazillian Magpies do a lot of live-streaming, but I can't imagine them reacting so livelily as this commentator. I think it's a brilliant clip, it's certainly amusing when they go mental over a goal. It gives that extra bit of sprit to the commentary I think.
  3. The early kick-off is going to seem a bit weird, but I am sure the players won't give it a second thought. They will be wanting to put a strong performance in front of our fans, I do hope the attendance manages to retain above the 10k mark. Though, I do feel that it might be impacted slightly due to the early kick-off and the cold weather we are having. Newport County still hasn't really found their consistency, but is a good team. I would say defensively, this is the area where they struggle the most on the pitch and I do feel if we create enough chances on goal - their keeper will have a lot to do in order to stay in the game. If our performance is a bit sluggish, at least in spells, I would welcome us to focus on passing the ball around - with a minimum focus on passing it back. We do need to come together after our recent defeat to show that we aren't losing ground on the automatic spaces; a good result would put us back in the mix quite nicely as the League Two table is quite wide open. If the result does go our way, we could be firmly in the top five especially if the other games results go our way. I do hope none of the upper end games are postponed, as Walsall have 2 games in hand. as does AFC Wimbledon and I know we currently sit 6th. So, one place might not be seen as important to others, but currently we are 6th, looking likely to fall to 8th or 9th. That's the wrong direction, so a win and moving up a place - with all the other fixtures keeps us with climbing distance without too much work to do to maintain our hopes for promotion.
  4. Further improvements have been made to the beta version of the lightweight dark theme (which is increasingly becoming my preference). The control actions: @, Bookmark, +, Quote, Edit and Report - now largely resemble the same style as the light version. The look on mobiles within both themes has been reduced, so that they should all be shown within the same line. Now: This was only effected by certain resolutions on mobiles, but the issue has been fixed. I still need to change the post goal, but I need to see how it looks when we hit the halfway mark and then having reached it - before I can apply a final fix. 0% and 50% is now styled to colours which wouldn't be distracting for a dark based theme. The rest of the theme improvements, including the default and dark version of that, are all rather minor and most likely won't be noticed. Yet they do give a significant improvement. Onto content now. ????
  5. It's a shame that there wasn't a live-streaming of the fans' forum, but it does take away some of the pressures of hosting a forum. It just gives us content creators something more to play with, even if people do watch the video - which I am currently listening to. Honestly, it shows how much out of the loop I am right now, and that's disappointing as I wasn't even aware of the fans' forum. I have seen comments from people who missed it, who would have been a lot more in the loop, so it's not that bad, but I would like to have gone to the event. I'll report back with my further thoughts after digesting everything, but it's always good to see. I also want to note before I post this comment, the club's urgency to address the fan concerns is a good way not to cloud the conversation. Yet to politely remind those who do throw flares that the EFL and FA won't like it.
  6. I always loved when the orange (or bright) footballs would come out for winter games. There's been some very cold past seasons where I have attended, and felt absolutely frozen. It's not as enjoyable, but the focus on watching football tends to get you through it. I remember when we played Mansfield a few seasons ago, where the snow and the density of it made it almost impossible to even see our goalkeeper. Like I said, I don't mind winter games. Summer is a lot more fun, especially with home games, but winter is still part of the parcel of football.
  7. Sorry, that I haven't welcomed you sooner! I hope you will find the site useful, and somewhere you feel happy to discuss Notts. So, welcome! Settle in, and I hope you like being a part of our Notts County site.
  8. It's snowing quite heavily here, at first it settled and then turned wet. Yet, it's persisting and we have a nice covering of snow. I wouldn't say it's all that deep yet, but if it continues we could.
  9. I'm sure it will come to Sky Showcase at some point which I believe is on Virgin's TV bundle. The first three episodes are great, the story builds, and it is very well-written. By the fourth, I started to appreciate "From" a bit more. Although, I have seen the third season, and I won't give any spoilers, but there are times when I felt disappointed with how the plot expanded. It's a very "Lost" style thing, which I said before, but you will see what I mean I believe. @Fan of Big Tone
  10. It looks like a publicity stunt, but at the same time I think the media are being quick to be negative about it. It might put some of these people in their places, or it could give them a platform to be more than just a social influencer. Jake Paul has split off into other avenues, such as wrestling. Although, I think that is more disrespectful if said person hasn't earned his spot. Football is one of those things that if you are good enough, it will show, whereas my earlier comparison to wrestling - it's not as simple. Good wrestlers can carry their opponents, Bret Hart being well known for making the likes of Jim Powers (among others). If a player in football can't give a good account of themselves, on the pitch it's going to bite them. Also, those who have gone from social media into MMA/Boxing tend to let themselves down. Just like being a wrestler doesn't make you an MMA fighter. *Cough *Cough CM Punk.
  11. It's on the Peacock network, although it should be available to certain Sky customers. Are you a subscriber to Sky Glass or Sky Plus? @Fan of Big Tone "Outside of the U.S., Peacock is available for Sky TV (including Sky Glass, Sky Plus, Sky Q and NOW customers) at no extra cost in the U.K. and Ireland. You can also stream Peacock in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy with Sky, and the streaming service recently rolled out in the Nordics with SkyShowtime." I believe this is streaming only, as it hasn't yet been confirmed to be broadcasting on UK television. https://www.justwatch.com/us/tv-show/teacup
  12. Unlike some Brits, I don't fear snow or power cuts. The last time I experienced a power cut in Winter was due to my idiot neighbours using a power tool in their garage, which tripped the electricity for about 6 houses. Whilst my children all freaked out, I happily sat with them in the living room playing Samsung's default ringtone - which has since been renamed "Powercut Music" by my family. I don't like silence due to years of issues formerly with noise. It's something I am only starting to get over, as once I couldn't hear silence without feeling triggered. If we are hit with a bad storm, the UK media will turn it into something bigger than it is. We never really have it all that bad; it's the coldness which I am more worried about. The change has already hit me with six, and I do believe it has impacted my mental health too.
  13. So, Jatta didn't score? This is very bizarre and poorly handled by the AFCON.
  14. This is great news, I noticed some pictures on Twitter when I briefly went on over the weekend. It's encouraging, a few years back we played in a youth cup final against Walsall at their ground. I hope fans are able to go to the next round to give them support.
  15. Good coverage for Notts and Jatta, I am pleased he scored on his international debut despite some media outlets reporting he assisted it. There was some confusion due to this, but it's good to see him making headlines in the Football League Paper.
  16. A while ago, a TV show called "Under the Dome" was recommended in a topic here. I watched it and thought it was okay, but it quickly became one of those shows where the direction seemed unsure. The plot was interesting, but I don't think it was executed well. It reminded me of another show I loved until the final series, which then declined (Jericho 2006). I recommended "From," which @Fan of Big Tone became interested in. That show follows a story about people trapped in a small village-like community where creatures come out at night and attack anyone who isn't safe with talismans. Season 3 of "From," created by the same team that wrote 'Lost,' is nearly finished in America. However, I would highly recommend another show that I have recently started watching called 'Teacup.' I am two episodes in, and the production and writing so far are excellent, as is the cast. It feels like a film in terms of quality, and I find it very interesting. While I take shows on their own merit, I do find it much better than 'From.'
  17. Having now watched the full highlights of the game, I can safely put my vote towards Nick Tsaroulla. I think George Abbott, had he continued consistently throughout the game, would have been closer competition for my vote.
  18. Sorry, again it's me. I am trying to improve the page speed, so I temporarily disabled it. However, my trick to save on the loading time isn't working. I've restored it.
  19. I have made amendments, unfortunately the way the reactions are handled is a CSS trick is applied to an image - which in this case is 'greyscale' and that limits the options of what you can do. It should be easier to see, I basically toned it down. The "Accepted file types: gif, jpeg, jpe, jpg, png, webp" has also been altered. ????
  20. @Robbie Are you seeing any concerns with it, or suggestions?
  21. I have been working on a dark version of the lightweight theme; it's still in beta. However, I have asked one person to have a look and the feedback was positive. I have seen further worked on it, to ensure it is dark black - instead of dark blue/grey. Please keep in mind: Dark Lightweight Theme. The Daily Post Goal The Footer Both needs work. There are areas which require some final thought, but I welcome feedback. Fixes have been applied to all themes except PON dark. It's the same fix, but I am trying to ensure it's a good fix. On tablets, blocks show as single items, instead of being 2x2. This change caused an issue with the home page on mobiles which has been fixed. As I say, I am trying to ensure it's the right approach, but I haven't experienced any issues. I am awaiting feedback from someone far more knowledgeable in CSS/theme design than me. Some minor upgrades have recently taken place, nothing all that exciting in truth. --Edit-- I will make sure that the Lightweight and Dark Lightweight themes can be toggled between each other. This is currently on hold, but it will be added within the new year. As, I expect this to be out of beta by then.
  22. Sorry, I tried to connect to Redis (a cache system) but it failed again. I would safely say the issue was my fault.
  23. What utter nonsense by the BBC. It was an exhibition fight, which highly favoured Jake Paul even though he'll never be to the standard that Mike Tyson was in his prime. Tyson, at 58-years-old, was always going to struggle with a 27-year-old. Personally, I think he deserves more respect for coming out of retirement, and having worked so hard to get into shape for the contest. These fights, they mean nothing. It's just money, but some media outlets love to pretend that it does. This is a very tedious article, one you would expect to be written by a non-mainstream news outlet. The part I have highlighted and underlined says it all. Jake Paul is a professional boxer now. He has been training with some former high calibre people such as Theotrice Chambers, and formerly Shane Mosley. I think more should be said about Paul's seriousness for the sport, and how if he's serious about it - he should fight active boxers. There's no doubt anyone with some common sense would expect Tyson to be slow, and sluggish compared to the 27-year-old Paul. Tyson has done any further damage to his career, nothing worse than when he was an active boxer. If anything, he's showing that he's reformed these days and has a much better overall image. The actual fight? He lost, it means nothing.
  24. Some fans might dismiss young talent, especially earlier on, but I have said before, our youngsters need to be hitting 5–10 appearances when considered ready. Then the following season, you aim to expose them to more football. As fans, we can pass our thoughts regarding youngsters, but players develop at different times. There's much more that goes into someone reaching their potential. Smart clubs will figure this out, as good facilities and coaching staff are just part of it. First season: 1-5, second: 5-10 and third: 10-20. If a manager truly believes in academy players, and first team members look out for them - then some will flourish. Obviously, not all youngsters can get time on the pitch, but the ones who do well should be pushed in a way that integrates them with the first team in my opinion.
  25. This is a very sensible decision, one which I hope Ryley Reynolds benefits from. Sometimes, I feel Notts loan out players to teams just for the sake of it. There was a time we would feed local clubs, and where at the time it seemed to make some sense in hindsight it's more related to the club doing said team a favour, or due to limited options. There's no point sending a youngster out to a much lower team, even if they do play regularly and whilst they may attract interest after this - that is the only benefit. The way I see it, we tend to loan players too far down, then fail to get them integrated into the first team. Follow-up loans tend to see them returning to the same team, then they end up being released down the line. I am optimistic that this loan will enable Reynolds to be extended beyond just one month, giving him further valuable game time. If he finds his feet, and does well. Then it will show Notts that he's capable and ensuring that he remains on loan would be beneficial. I just hope he doesn't end up being loaned to multiple teams this season. I am not sure about the limits involved, but you want youngsters to be settled, and whilst they might not care about leaving one environment for another. It tends to be a pattern that continues beyond that initial loan spell. Both Ryley Reynolds and James Sanderson look like promising players who will only further improve based around who they are playing alongside, and what opportunities they are given. I hope Stuart Maynard will be the first Notts manager in a long time to realise that our youth just need to play, and settle within the first team environment.
