  1. It sounds like it's a good thing, as I have mentioned, I believe we could be much better in the fitness department, something we seem to have lost with Luke Williams. Not that I felt we were miles away, but some players tended to appear like they struggled in spells. It also makes me wonder if the club feels certain players haven't quite been at the grade they went in terms of fitness when signing. Will Randall seems to stick out as a player who never looked exactly what was advertised, we will have to wait and see.
  2. There are some good options being rumoured. I don't think the club are rushing to appoint the next head coach for various reasons, but I am quite happy to sit back until the official announcement is made. Usually, it's never who you want, but I would like to think Notts are exploring all promising options. @Piethagoram, what about Colby Bishop returning home? He's been released by Portsmouth. (I believe. I probably should ask, as it goes off-topic)
  3. How does the work permit aspect work with managers? The EFL and FA don't seem to be very clear about the rules appointing coaches/managers outside of the United Kingdom.
  4. I'm not a big fan of the term "plan B", but I know what people mean by it. Football shouldn't be based on rigid tactics all the time, there should be a general approach, and tactics do generally fall within a system. I just think, if managers or head coaches have tactic A, tactic B, tactic C etc. It takes some adjustment switching, and whilst I would say Stuart Maynard didn't show much understanding of turning games around. I don't think he ever really had the understanding of how being less formal can make the opposition ask questions of how we would play. It would be nice if we could switch formations much easier, based on the starting XI and the players available on the bench. As such, this might be a fallback plan, but I would hope our next head coach can read how games are actually going. Usually, there are signs that we will concede. It starts with pressure in controlling the ball at the back and playing it straight to the keeper the moment a player can't make a forward pass. It would be much easier if instructions were being given, and the moment one of our players is struggling in-game, thoughts are made as to how to overcome it. Some managers sit back, hoping the quality will prevail, but a lot of people say we need a leader on the pitch. I think it starts with who is in charge of the squad. At our level, every coach will have different abilities in areas of their management style, but I do think a better understanding of how a game is going would help with the mistakes we can make and the lack of concentration. Another point, I would have thought a manager would think about why we don't score from corners often, something which comes from the training ground.
  5. Hello, @PieHard. I have to say I like your nick! It's great to see more plays on the word "Pie". Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham, I hope you enjoy being a part of our Notts County community. If you wouldn't mind, would you care to tell us a little bit about yourself, such as your background in supporting the mighty pies?
  6. Hello, @Simon Jackson. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham, it's great to be saying hello to you! Feel free to reach out if you need any help, but for now please enjoy being a part of our Notts County community.
  7. Hello, @willallen50. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham, I hope you enjoy being a part of our Notts County community. Feel free to share a little bit about yourself, especially after a few of us say hello.
  8. Yes, v5 was built from the ground up, which is why there are a lot of issues with features coming from addons being difficult. Plugins are removed, in favour of everything to be applications. The good thing is a lot of hooks are returning, but some will never return. Between major versions, I do try to freshen things up. I spent a while loving the previous theme, but I wanted to try something new. I'll look into the tablet side, if you are able to tell me the model and Android version? It's possible it could be related to the browser, but provided that is still being updated, there shouldn't be much reason for the site to be broken completely. Next time I am at my dad's I will check one of the devices which still works that I cycled down to him (before we brought him a newer device because they were really past it). 🤣 It is important I try to see what is causing it, though. I am thankful, there's no "but" in there. 😁
  9. I think it's fair to say we are somewhat predictable because how many times do we try to force the play by passing it back, only to focus on going down the left or right wing? Usually the left side, at the expense of the other wing-back becoming a spectator for key parts of the game. I believe it was our final game against Doncaster, when Stuart Maynard finally brought on Will Jarvis, but at the time everything was being focused on coming from Jodi Jones. The spells on the ball that Jarvis got, it seemed like we could create something different, and I don't mean for this to be a criticism of Jodi, as he does superbly well and is skillful enough to bring the quality needed to change the game or create a goal-scoring chance. My point is the predictability. When defences know we won't use the opposition flank, we won't try to attack through the centre of the park. More frustratingly, we insist on trying to tap the ball in by walking into the goal line. Very few efforts come from outside, but a lot of the best goals last season came from a pure bit of magic and a chance from distance when the opposition don't expect it. There's no reason why at times we can't try to mix things up, but I do think teams start to see where the danger is. Then it takes us to have a real quality moment to break teams down, rather than forcing them to make mistakes by switching things up.
  10. Hello, @Miles3659. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham. I hope you find PON to be useful, especially once we get closer to the new season, and enjoy being part of our Notts County community.

  13. Hello, @Stringy Bob. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham. I hope you enjoy being a part of our Notts County community. PS. There's a Bob I am familiar with who goes to most away games, who his group call him "Stringy". I don't suppose it is you? 👋
  14. I'm looking into this, @Robbie. 👍
  15. Lightweight theme added, please remember now the themes come with a toggle to quickly switch between light and dark mode. The lightbulb = Light Mode, The Mood Crest = Dark Mode. As for the third icon, that is just the system default.
  16. In 4.5, or maybe 4.3, there was a link on the forum index. That would change based on what the default stream was, but a lot of things have been streamlined. There are elements I miss, but hooks are returning and there's always the hope that they'll be able to be returned. My favourite change is the text editor. The previous editor was CKEditor 4, and it was very clunky. When it was first introduced, it was outstanding for the time, but things have become a lot more lightweight and better in terms of functions. I am still working on areas, but I am happy with how far we have come. I'm just glad there weren't any major, major issues. It went remarkably well. When I upgraded a test environment, I encountered heaps of issues, but that is to be expected with betas. I'm always open to feedback, and I only want members to be happy.
  17. I had an issue with my laptop, so I decided to reinstall the latest update to Windows 11. It made no difference, so I undid the update. Same issue, I had already checked online for any fixes, and had roamed the Microsoft support forums. It turns out my antivirus, Kaspersky, had some weird issue, and uninstalling it resolved the issue. Never before have I had issues with an app randomly preventing Windows from operating correctly. I only troubleshooted it because I had turned my internet off. If I hadn't done that, I probably would have had to freshly install Windows 11. Whilst that was going on, I watched a couple of boxing matches on Channel 5. There's something wrong with modern boxing based on what I witnessed.
  18. I'm really pleased by how the upgrade has gone for PON. 😁 I encourage members to use the status to let us know what you are doing. Like you would with Facebook, BlueSky, X (Twitter) etc.
  19. At 22, I wouldn't be against us trying to sign him, but I don't think a loan would be suitable. At 22, he needs to settle in a first-team environment, and if Burnley were prepared to let him leave permanently, it could be a good coup for us. That said, it might trigger those wiki fans who believe the stats on the pages say more about the player than giving them a chance in real life. We might be seeking more experience, mind you, what with the signing of Matthew Dennis.
  20. It's about time @Fan of Big Tone, that you fit me into your suitcase. 😉 I hope you and Mrs T have a wonderful time on the cruise. The Ireland part sounds like a nice way to finish the cruise, not so sure about Liverpool despite all the culture and music scene. I suppose if you haven't been, seeing the connections to The Beatles would be nice. I trust you brought your ear defenders along!!
  21. There seems to be an issue where the custom CSS decides to go missing. I have taken a manual backup and have so far managed to get round the issue. I am not exactly sure what caused it, but please keep an eye out for things.
  22. If I act quick, I might be able to get my name on the list of candidates by tomorrow. I think the board will be narrowing down their selection, and I don't think it's a bad thing that they are not rushing the appointment. I do hope we end up with someone with EFL experience, but provided whoever comes in can get the best out of the squad and unite us fans. Then the season will only be another rollercoaster of a ride, a favourable fixture start and a good beginning to the campaign, and we'll wonder why we were even fussed. At least the Reedtz don't pick based on the flavour of the month, or whoever is desperate enough to accept the job.
  23. It would be nice to plant a few more flowers in my front garden. Cheeky has done well with the bedding area in front of the house. We have an Acer tree close to the corner of our front fence which is getting bigger. I have always been tempted to put flowers around it, and make it more of a feature. They are a real nightmare, I think Cheeky tends to put off them due to this too. It's a headache when they won't come off, it's why we ended up leaving the ones in the front. Though from time to time, Cheeky does say she wishes they were gone. Her dad once tried to remove them, and gave up due to how awkward they are. That's rust and years of being set in place for us, I think in some cases they are best left because of the damage they can do when trying to remove them. If we ever used ours, they would need to like the sun a lot because we face it from early morning until around 5pm. Doing any gardening in the summer can be a real drain, when the sun is at its highest heat. Though, I do wish we could do something with them. On another point, I have wanted to install lights to the front of the house for some time. We had to make our gardens really private, due to issues with the neighbours, but I do go for the occasional late-night walk and think the house would look better lit up. Flowers and plants make a massive difference. I don't like how hedges are being removed simply because people can't be bothered to maintain them. Likewise with trees, many tall and old trees have been cut down in recent years, and I can't understand why anyone would want their property to be so open.
  24. They're in for another defender from Kilmarnock, supposedly, at least from what I read. I thought Curtis Tilt looked like a strong leader at the back, but I wasn't impressed with other aspects of his game. When we have played against him, I have always wanted to see a player just take him on, as he tends to be indecisive at times. Organisation-wise, he's very good and should be a good signing.
  25. The father of my brother's friend, who used to own my home. He was obsessed with hanging baskets, it caused quite a lot of damage to the brick walls. We still have two holders stuck to the front of our house, which refuses to move. I had thought about sanding them back to the metal and repainting them. However, Cheeky isn't keen on hanging baskets. I quite like them, and find it to be quite interesting to see someone start from the beginning, as mentioned by @Robbie. I sometimes wonder if Cheeky doesn't think they will grow if we did them ourselves, and that the ones she doesn't like are those already pre-arranged. The back of my house must have had like six different hanging baskets at one point. After I cleared the jungle from the overgrown garden, those were one of the first things Cheeky wanted removing as it did damage the break work. I patched parts up, so it doesn't look that bad. At the bottom of our garden, Cheekt has some flowers at the side of our garage and a raspberry plant.
