Ice Hockey: Nottingham Panthers.
I recently discovered a Panthers fan lives at the bottom end of my street; it seems he is in his years where he needs a lot of support. Whom, I assume to be his son, can come across as quite inconsiderate and annoying, especially when pulling up outside my house playing extremely loud music. Yet, I was touched the other week when I saw my frail neighbour walk up and get into his car wearing a shirt. He's probably annoyed someone closer to his parents home, but it did make me feel more tempted to have the experience of seeing the Panthers play live. To sway back into the purpose of the discussion, it's good to see how well the Panthers are doing. We should be proud of them as a contributing team to Nottingham. 3rd isn't bad, even if people think the team should be higher.

Shropshire designer turns football shirts into puffer jackets
It's amazing! I need to start off by acknowledging this, and she is clearly very talented as a designer. I am a little of a stickler when it comes to cutting up shirts. If the shirts needed to be repurposed, so be it. For me, it's like defacing the Union Jack, etc. So many people would love to have those shirts without being turned into something else. I don't think it would be so bad, if people were asking her to do it. Yet it seems she obtains shirts and does them herself, in addition to requests. There's a lot of disapproval for half-and-half shirts, which, despite being amazing on the one hand, just doesn't sit well with me on the other. Also, these look bad. The numbers look a bit blurry to me. From what I have seen the fronts look quite nice, but again, I don't think destroying shirts is a productive thing, especially when you don't support said club.

Notts County Academy News.
It's a shame the Wrexham one is the return game and not here, I still need to try to find time to go support the youth team. Fingers crossed if things improve, I will get that chance. Otherwise, I will try to find another way.

Queens Park defeat Rangers at Ibrox!!!!
Great outcome for Queens Park, the development of young Scottish players is quite big at the moment and QP are one of those teams with a heavy focus on their academy. Rangers and Celtic need to have days like this because it is a good advert for Scottish football.

Winter Sports Brit Watch
I feel ignorant of all this, but I massively limit what news I read because of how doom and gloom it is. Even when reading a sports story like the one shared above, there's doom and gloom all around the article, and it just puts me off. So, it's great to see someone trawling through for the news and outcome for Team GB. Thanks, @Robbie.

Eating in the 1950s
Oh, for sure, there are improvements, and I don't wish to overlook them. My focus was more on the better aspects of the 1950s, as we could talk about how hard life was in the 1800s and how the 19th century was the real turning point for a better lifestyle. My points are more focused on the things we take for granted, something which I don't.

Eating in the 1950s
It seemed my generation was more bothered about the future, and even to a degree, my youth was spent wishing my life away. My childhood, despite some issues with school and how I was treated, was always some of the best memories I have. Especially when I later moved schools, which helped change my perspective quite a bit. This said, even from the age of 6 onwards, I found the past to be very interesting. The 1950s were a huge point in the United Kingdom's history, with both previous world wars and the situation most would have found themselves in. I have a great amount of respect for this era, and although I am unable to contribute in terms of the food. I have often wondered what it would be like to have experienced it, the show on the BBC which gave families a glimpse into the past being something I wished I could have done. Also, I think just the way life used to be in the 1950s seems much better. Community spirit amongst neighbours, what seemed a much safer space for children. Plenty of family, and focus on that. Whilst we are in despair about how things are now, I think the 1950s really summed up how people tried to make the best of the possibilities they had. These days, change is focused on making someone else suffer, and it's only getting worse.

Notts County v Barnsley Women
I wish Notts all the very best; I hope they can get the win because the momentum and progress they have made over the season is impressive. It would be nice to see them finish as high as possible, we are very proud of them.

Weekly Chat - Mon 10th to Sun 16th February
I have had a busy few days, but a mixture of Saturday and Sunday has knocked me for six. I went to see Wheatus and Bowling for Soup on Saturday with Cheeky and Ava. It's part of the frustration with dealing with my disabilities, as they are taking over despite my weight loss. Try to be healthy; I have to be careful about just how much I push myself. I am trying to catch up with PON. I really enjoyed the gig; many will know that we have seen BFS many times, but we are big fans of them. We are back at the ice arena on Thursday, as they come to Nottingham.

Sutton Coldfield v Notts County Women.
Notts has fallen a little since I last remember checking their league position; it's still positive, what with the club growing and how last season compares. It's a good win, 3 vital points, but it is a bit disappointing, not in a negative way, but in how different it could have been if Notts had managed to maintain their form.

Head Coach Paul Warne Sacked by Derby County.
With the exception of some, and, of course, @super_ram. Derby fans are embarrassing and are doing the classic thing of forgetting where they came from, where they are, and where the club stands. It's even silly that their board has jumped to this conclusion. Although I am behind on this news, I think it's a sign of what is wrong with football. I wish their new manager all the success; I hope Derby stay up, but sacking a manager who has had a lot of restraints and seen form fall due to various reasons, most of which were out of his hands. It just seems very off. I think they might have been better sticking and rebuilding again, even if they did fall back into League One.

Kop flag for sale
It's very saddening to learn about the flag being damaged. I am aware that a lot of people didn't like the branding on the flag from the OSA, and I would hope this played no role in the damage to the flag. I hope that a new flag can be raised, rather than just the old one being sold off. We are a community, and the flag serves a great purpose before games.

RIP Mick Walker
My grandfather was greatly annoyed by the decision to sack Mick Walker; there weren't many times when I saw him so annoyed by a decision. From the club's perspective, which crossed into concern for him. I have always been told how Mick should have been given a longer spell, and I am aware of his work involved in securing success in the Anglo-Italian Cup. Those trips to Wembley are always things I cherish. Rest in peace, Mick Walker. Thank you for everything you did for this great club.

Welcome The Cheshunt Pie
Hello, @The Cheshunt Pie. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham. I hope you enjoy being part of our Notts County community. PS. Is the "Cheshunt" pie related to a business? I noticed on Saturday, when Notts played Morecambe at Meadow Lane. A company's vehicle went past me and parked; I noticed two Notts fans get out of the van. It could be a coincidence, but it made me wonder.

Does Notts have an emergency Striker?
There are players who can go up top; Conor Grant, for example, has played as a striker. When Coventry City were in League Two, they had injuries up top, and Jodi Jones at times played as a striker. I believe he did so against us for this reason; virtually any attacking midfielder should be able to cover. I recall the 1998 season when fans told me we put different players up top, especially a centre-back, and although I did attend games that season. I am too young to remember who, plus my memory is very foggy on who played as a striker. It's a good thing we have more depth now, though I wouldn't be against giving the position to someone to cover it if we needed to, as this is the best outcome.

Hello, @Michael Bramley, It's really nice to see you have joined us here. I apologise for not taking the time to welcome you sooner on site. It's been nice going down memory lane with my father @super_ram, who you have since confirmed the connection with your own father.
