September's Player of the Month: Pride of Nottingham
I'm sorry folks, I made a mistake and forgot to include Jodi Jones. I need to make sure that the Facebook groups poll doesn't allow people to add to it. As I went off that for Twitter, and somehow discluded him here.????????ββοΈ

Opposition View: Liam Cole on Carlisle Unitedβs Rebuild Under Mike Williamson and Facing Notts County
Introduction: Name: Liam Cole. How long have you supported Carlisle United? My first proper memory with the Blues is probably the Leeds play-off game, since the 2007/08 season. Are you a season ticket holder? Unfortunately not. My work commitments mean I donβt get to all home games any more, but I still manage to attend about 80% of them. Age? 27. Favourite Player? My favourite player would be either Peter Murphy or Danny Grainger, both legends of the clubβs recent past. What are the key strengths and weaknesses of Carlisle United, and how do they match up against Notts Countyβs style of play? Up until the change in manager, there weren't really any strengths in the team with the tactics being played. This will be Mike Williamson's third game in charge, and there are certainly signs that, given a bit of time and backing in the transfer window (which he will get with our new owners), we will be a formidable team. Our game against Grimsby on Saturday was a Jekyll and Hyde performance. Our performance in the first half was the best half of football in the last three seasons without a doubt. In the second half, we were sloppy and switched off. No doubt this will improve when the players build their fitness and get used to our new tactics. Hopefully, we will be playing front-foot, possession-based football, which is obviously only fully possible for one team, so it will be less a case of tactics and more a case of the execution of them as to who comes out on top on the day. How do Carlisle United fans feel about their teamβs current position in the league, and what do they think needs to change to improve their standing? Obviously, given the new ownership and the backing of the previous regime, and head of recruitment Abbott, who is still here, but I would argue should be shown the door when our new position of sporting director is finally filled, we were expecting to be a big player in the league this season. Credit to Tom Piatak, he jumped early and replaced him with a manager with a positive future (hopefully with us!) instead of another off the merry-go-round. The signs in the two games so far are enough to suggest that if we continue on the same progress trajectory, then we should be more than safe this year, potentially with an outside shot at a playoff push. Who are the standout players for Carlisle United this season, and which Notts County players do they see as the biggest threats? All the players have suffered with the tactics of Paul Simpson this season. The only player signed this year that looks to have improved under his leadership is our right-sided defender Archie Davies. Obviously, under the right leadership and tactics, we have some incredibly talented players. Everyone in the lower league knows exactly what players like Jordan Jones and Charlie Wyke are capable of. Obviously, your injury to Jodi Jones is a big one and one that strengthens our chances. I'd expect Dan Crowley to play the biggest role in the game, being that our standout issue under Williamson is him wanting to play from the back and the question mark over defenders as to whether they fit into that style of play. His runs forward from midfield will cause us a lot of issues if our passing is not up to scratch. What is the atmosphere like at Brunton Park on match days, and how do Carlisle United fans prepare for big games like this one? The opposition fans' view on how we travel sums up the support the Blues have. Last season in League 1, most teams ranked us in the top 2 or 3 teams for away following to their grounds that season. The atmosphere at home games is not quite as renowned, and there are definitely more doom and gloomers, but the atmosphere is still there. The improvements to the ground have massively improved the match day experience and have, in turn, improved the atmosphere pre-match. I think one of the positives we have is that despite the improvements and changes to the ground with a brand-new fan zone, more hospitality boxes added, and the improved hospitality offerings, we have managed to keep the charm of the 'old school' stadium, which a lot of these new stadiums lack. We have a march from the town centre with flags down to the ground, which is organised by a group of people who stand in 'The Warwick'. This is, however, going to be made up of fans from all areas of the ground. How do Carlisle United supporters view their managerβs tactics and decisions, and what changes would they like to see in the upcoming match? It's still far too early in Mike Williamson's reign to comment, but I think the vast majority would agree that the early signs have been positive. There were grumbles at his appointment from a minority because of where MK Dons are in the league and the fact we paid a rumoured Β£200,000 release clause for him and his coaching staff when he was potentially on the verge of the sack. The flip side of that is he took them from 16th/17th last season and got them in the playoffs, albeit putting in the performance they did in the semis. The changes I would personally like to see are the cohesion and being able to execute the tactics like we did in the first half of the last game, for the full 90 minutes. What are the most memorable moments for Carlisle United fans from previous seasons, and how do they compare to past encounters with Notts County? The big ones that stand out for me personally are two visits to Wembley. Beating Brentford 1-0 in the JPT final, with Peter Murphy netting the goal 24 hours after the birth of his baby. Then there's the two weeks beating Bradford in the play-off semis and seeing their fans' tears, and then beating Stockport on penalties in our 'weekend in paradise'. Another core memory as a fan is taking Liverpool to penalties and Derek Asamoah scoring in front of the KOP and his celebration to the Liverpool fans. I genuinely believe that was the defining nail in Brendan Rodgers' coffin in his time at the club. He was sacked less than two weeks later. Had they lost, I reckon he'd have been sacked that night. Obviously, you're unbeaten in 5 against us if my memory is correct. However, the 5-0 at Meadow Lane is probably the defining memory against your team, with big Chaz scoring one and Jabo Ibehre netting a brace. Which young players have shown the most improvement in their form this year? And how do you think their development will impact the teamβs performance in the upcoming matches? The obvious choices are the two Bournemouth boys, Dom Sadi and Dan Adu-Adjei. Dom Sadi, in particular, has shown massive potential in his first senior role. Most of our senior team aren't seen as 'young'. A couple of the YTS players put in some promising performances in preseason, and hopefully, they can snatch their chances if and when they come. Final comments from Chris I would like to express my gratitude to Liam for taking the time to answer my questions. I sent these quite late, and he has come through to give us a brilliant insight into his support of Carlisle United. As for the game, I would honestly take a point because it will allow us to remain undefeated. I can see Carlisle being more of a threat on goal, so defensive solitude will be of importance for Notts. The game should be fairly open, but I have concerns that Carlisle might lift themselves and pull off a good performance against us. I am passing on a prediction this time, it will be quite tight. FranΓ§ois Zoko is the player who faced a fine during the Trew era for generously giving his shirt to a fan. He played for both teams, and I felt we should have started more as a striker.

Match Discussion: Game 9 - The Blues (A)
We need to start brighter than we did against Morecambe, I think Carlisle are more capable than them as a team - with no disrespect to Morecambe. I just feel Carlisle have a stronger squad, even though they have started poorly. I think the game should be a lot more controlled, as compared to Morecambe. I don't see Carlisle wasting energy or throwing themselves into the game straight away. I can see them being more patient on the ball and structured at the back. I would agree, Jevani Brown is unlikely to start. I am hoping we do see Kellan Gordon because he looks to be the best option we have with Jodi Jones being injured. I am sure whatever line-up Stuart Maynard chooses, we'll be competitive, and I am sure we will start better. Notts just needs to be structured at the back, and a lot more careful when committing themselves to crosses and corners.

Who is your Notts man of the match v Morecambe?
I do feel David McGoldrick is the right choice, but everyone has their own opinion which is refreshing to see, and I like seeing which players get mentioned as being the Man of the Match. I am pleased for McGoldrick.

This Annoys Me About Notts
These days, with sponsors, it's very important teams make sure they wear the appropriate shirts. It's just one of those things, because it can affect clubs when trying to obtain sponsors for their shirt. Unless, we had just one which is quite rare to see these days. I personally think we should be wearing the orange shirt more, instead of the purple, and I actually prefer the third kit. I just think it highlights how Notts made a mistake to go with three shirts, instead of making the purple one more available instead of a limited edition thing. Away shirts are important for the part they play in sponsors.

Who is your Notts man of the match v Morecambe?
David McGoldrick did some very exceptional work, at times when it failed - it was simply due to his age rather than a lack of effort. He was very good. Several times he helped defensively, where his interceptions allowed us to come away with the ball, unfortunately he needed a bit of pace around him, but he was my Man of the Match. He performed very well.

Match Discussion: Game 8 - The Shrimps (A)
I don't think it's fair to discredit how Morecambe played; they started brightly and really worked well as a team to get that early goal. There were shouts of offside and handball where I sat, but I couldn't make it out. The way they played a high game and literally made everything we tried to do early on much harder. It made us start the way we did, which wasn't good at all. I think early on, we needed to switch things but again, Morecambe had a gameplay, and they stuck to it. It made us work much harder, in a very ineffective way. We played far too wide, which meant it forced Notts into passing the ball around and Morecambe did this, so that they could put all their energy in making it difficult to make space to attack. I wasn't so much that we missed Jatta or Jodi Jones; it was a lack of adapting to Morecambe's game plan. I am not sure if we should have played three at the back, as this narrowed our chances of building at the back. Whilst I thought David McGoldrick was superb, he was isolated up top and although Notts tried to combat this with kicking the ball up to him. It came at the cost of being able to move in and behind Morecambe, tactically they wanted to keep the ball in front of them where our attacking players would be forced to overthink things. Conor Grant got a lot of stick, especially early on but again, Morecambe made everything much harder. We were missing speed, direct runs, and players creating space while utilising the channels. We would move forward, pass back, pass to a defender, then they would either pass to another defender or try to hit the ball up field. The idea wasn't bad to try to keep on the ground, but when it hit the air, it played into their hands. McGoldrick did wonders with trying to hold up the ball, but with how we were set up, and the formation meant that the midfield had to do a lot of unnecessary running. When the running became useful to making a good attack, due to the high amount of running it meant we made poor passes, ended up running into danger or just over ran until it was easy to pick the ball up. I thought defensively, we improved, but the passing didn't. The performance wasn't good in the first half, but credit must go to Morecambe who had a team game focus and wanted to make things more complicated. In the first half, I would like to have seen us try to push up and switch to four at the back. Make the wing backs retain their wide positions but get the defence to push up in support and encourage the midfield to make runs/movement in the centre of the park. The second half, I felt changes needed to be made in order for Notts to adapt to how Morecambe played. The changes Stuart Maynard made did help to influence the game; I do feel they were made later than I think they should have done. Jevani Brown infused the much-needed speed into our game. I think he should have started. I thought it was a shame Kellan Gordon didn't start, unsure why he didn't, but I thought he would have helped. Morecambe early tactics would see them start to lose ground, which they did and some of their players looked to be struggling fitness wise. The final 20β25 minutes could have seen Notts win, before we had an excellent one-on-one where Morecambe did well. I don't think the finish was the best and Morecambe still continued to cause us trouble at times, the disallowed goal was a bit of nightmare for the first minute or so, it did look like they may have scored a second. It wasn't a good performance, but it's a point I feel we should respect. The officials were disappointing, but tactically we could have changed to bring us more involved much earlier on. I thought Morecambe's defence looked quite weak, by the time they realised we had grown into the game they did start to put players behind the ball more/park the bus. Also, their antics with time-wasting, the officials should have clamped down on. It was a difficult game, Jatta would have had the same issue McGoldrick had. If we had Jodi Jones, he might have been able to shake things up, but the biggest issue in my eyes is the lack of space we created when in passing phases. Instead of working as a team to move forward, Notts allowed Morecambe to make it more difficult to play. A point is a fair result, it does feel like we should have got all three points, but then we left it late.

A Strong Rumour.
Unless I am told something by a credible source, I tend not to listen to rumours as they don't usually reflect on any truth. Sometimes there are whispers, which get passed around, and before you know it someone else expands on it. Until we know, we shouldn't worry. I just hope Jodi Jones is fine and not in any discomfort at this stage. As vital as he is to our team, his wellbeing as a person is more important. I do think, as someone else mentioned in the topic about Jodi Jones' injury, that it's becoming disrespectful. These people panning the fire and spreading rumours really should think. By this, I mean those who start them.

Kameron Muir. 15 years, 32 days.
It's pleasing to see young players like Kameron Muir coming in, doing well and gaining a record which speaks volumes. I do echo comments about the club needing to make it count, and for it not to be a way to promote the EFL trophy but about giving good youngsters much needed minutes with the first team environment. Also, Stuart Maynard does deserve credit for going ahead and playing all 5 of them.

Barnsley Women v Notts County Women.
Knott seems like a very good scorer for us, a draw wouldn't be the worst result.

M K Dons appoint Crawley coach
I need to start wearing my glasses more, I only need them at times, but I thought the picture was Ally McCoist at first. ???? MK Dons have a weird way about appointing their managers: they seem to go on "names" with "reputation" and then they appoint managers who have earned promotion with other teams. Scott Lindsey did well with Crawley Town last season, but is he the right manager to turn their season around? This will be his third league club, so it's not a convincing decision - if I supported the plastic club I would be somewhat disappointed. Considering how poor they started, you would have thought they would go with someone with a bit more experience and a better track record with promotion. That's just my view. I might be wrong, but I don't see how he's any better than their previous manager.

Poch In America.
It's going to be interesting to see how he adapts, it's like having a very extended holiday I would imagine but the United States team have been underachievers for some time. Most of their better talent is between the age of 22-26, but lack firepower up top. Haji Wright is a decent player with promising potential. They lack the Landon Donovan type striker mind.

Scouting dossier : Burton Albion v Notts
I don't know much about him, but he sounds like someone worth keeping an eye on, and it will be interesting to see how he ends up doing with Burton and back with his parent club, Birmingham City.

Aiden Stone to Boston on Loan
I felt very impressed with him during the pre-season when he first arrived. I think there's a good keeper in Aidan Stone, but confidence is something which he seems to suffer from once he concedes a goal. I think he would flourish with our current defenders, as he would have a lot more protection, but Notts clearly want to move him on. Stone is a better option over Sam Slocombe. I like Slocombe but right now it's only his experience that keeps him as the backup. Personally, I think we gave up too early on Stone.

Missing Trophies
Unfortunately, during times of desperation people can do crazy things. I think it's likely to be true that some were melted down. This is something I have been told over the years, by fans who are quite involved with the club. It's a shocking thing to do, but I would imagine if they still existed it would be quite easy to locate them. It should be a crime, and that the trophies belong to the club.

Opposition View: Mark Shore's "Get Out of Our Club" Message to Morecambe's Owner
Introduction: Name: Mark Shore. How long have you supported Morecambe? 21-years. Are you a season ticket holder? Yes. Age? 35. Favourite Player? Danny Carlton. How do you feel about Morecambeβs current position in League Two, and what do you think are the main factors contributing to their struggles this season? I am not happy with us being bottom of the league. We play well, but things are not going our way. All this is because of our owner, Jason Whittingham. How did the transfer embargo affect the teamβs ability to strengthen the squad, and what impact do you think it has had on their overall performance? It is hard to sign players under a transfer embargo. Signing 15 players in one day is challenging. What are your views on the management and coaching staffβs approach to the season, and do you think any changes are needed to improve results? It was out of his control, Adam's hand, because he doesn't know how much money he can spend on players. How do you see the rest of the season unfolding for Morecambe, and what are your expectations for the teamβs performance in the upcoming matches? I hope we finish mid-table. I hope we can get 6 points in the next 3 games. How do you think Notts Countyβs defence will handle Morecambeβs attacking threats in the upcoming match? I think Notts County's defence will handle it fine. Which player from Notts County do you believe will make the most impact in the game against Morecambe, and why? Jacob Bedeau, I think he will because he is an ex-Morecambe player. Dan Crowley too. What role do you think the clubβs leadership and board have played in the current situation, and what actions do you believe they should take to address the issues? Just make sure our owner sells the club. At the moment, he doesn't want to sell it. JASON WHITTINGHAM, GET OUT OF OUR CLUB AND SELL THE CLUB! Final comments from Chris Fans might be thinking that the game will be routine from the Notts perspective, although I expect Morecambe to put a strong performance. Defensively, Morecambe can struggle from set pieces and corners which is something I would like to see magpies make use of. I fully expect Morecambe to attempt to disrupt our passing play, with them trying to mount attacks on the break. If Notts control the game and create good scoring opportunities, it could see a number of goals but even if this is the case - Morecambe have the ability to shut teams out or make the opposition work. My prediction would be 3-0 to Notts. I wish Morecambe fans all the best, and hope their season picks up. Read our latest article on Pride of Nottingham, where 15-year-old Kameron Muir makes history as Notts Countyβs youngest-ever player in the Magpiesβ 2-1 win over Burton Albion. Head over to Pride of Nottingham and share your thoughts on this weekend's game against Morecambe, as Notts County aims to bounce back and return to winning ways.

Missing Trophies
I'm not sure what trophies no longer exist, but I am aware that during the early 00s it's believed some were melted down and sold. I have no idea why anyone would be so foolish to destroy parts of the club's history, even if we needed the money badly. I can't imagine they would have funded much. Not in terms of the costs involved with a football club. AH made claims that more had gone missing when he came in, I don't know if that's true or not. I am aware of some shady things, but it's not for me to repeat them, and I wouldn't want the hassle involved.

Where are they now : Jack Barmby
He was a nice lad, but I don't think he had the drive to make a career within the EFL. It wasn't so much his ability; I think he was quite nervous as a player and due to that he never pushed himself. I do think his time at Notts was a waste though. Being the son of a famous player has some weight, but I think an exceptional manager is needed to get the most out of players like Jack Barmby.

A "classic" own goal from Huddersfield
Yikes, it's a common issue with playing the ball out of the back. Alex Bass isn't afraid to boot the ball up, which is the right decision if you are being pressed. One of the defenders must have realised they were passing themselves into danger? The own goal is such an owler.
