It's a good read, which highlights how good things are right now at Notts County. Meadow Lane glows in the writing as somewhere people can truly enjoy watching football, and for me, I think this reflects on the gate attendances. Every game I am meeting someone new who tells me that they have decided to come because they are not able to watch much football. The spirit amongst our fans is captivating, and the football is the icing on the cake. I met a bloke who told me he had travelled from Newcastle this past Saturday, with a very thick Geordie accent. He told me that he's a Newcastle fan, but has found travelling to watch other clubs more interesting. Even this week's "Opposition View", highlights how lower tier football is attracting fans from the top clubs. Tom Reed did well highlighting why fans feel more connected to a club like Notts, rather than Newcastle United's or Arsenal's. Football really should be about the fans, clubs should treat every fan the way we treat our clubs.

I don't think some players can change positions as easily as people think within football, Cedwyn Scott before signing for Notts was a predator and deadly finisher for Gateshead. He had formed a formidable partnership with Macaulay Langstaff. It was from speaking with @ARLukomski, at the Alfreton friendly two seasons ago when we first signed them that I went back to watch Gateshead highlights. He does a good job in midfield, but playing someone out of position can throw them off, and I honestly don't believe the injury he suffered last season has helped matters. I'm hoping we can learn how he's doing in the Bromley presser.

I'm really hoping that Notts can continue the current form, Bromley can be defensively good but are quite inconsistent at the moment. I think the approach has to be on recovering the ball and protecting Alex Bass. I hope Jatta can at least make the bench, though David McGoldrick is in good form, which is hard to see him being replaced in the starting line-up. Provided the back three consists of Jacob Bedaeu, Matty Platt and Lewis Macari I think we'll be solid. It would be nice to see Nick Tsaroulla more involved in the game. I think he balances his duties really well, but could make a difference out wide. I am really hoping that Jodi Jones can come back in, I don't think we need to rush Dan Crowley - I don't know if it's true that the pair had a "bug" or a "niggle" but I think Crowley could come on later in the game if he's feeling well enough. The need to make changes isn't strong, so I would hope Stuart Maynard avoids making too many changes. It's impressive just how settled the squad is looking, each game you can see further signs of this and how nice would it be to retain another clean sheet away from home? I think there's a strong element, not just from Bass to avoid conceding but the whole team.

Following this goal, Adam Coombes became part of the Bromley team. 15 appearances and 1 goal for him at Bromley.

It's a great bit of information, and I do love seeing Meadow Lane busy. We could only dream of this prior to the Reedtz, as usually with AH it was reached during cheaper tickets and not really sustained when it wasn't cheaper. I have always liked seeing Meadow Lane busy, but since COVID I do find it makes me very anxious. It's a small thing to overlook, but I would be lying if I didn't miss the quieter days when it felt more tight-knit. This said, I wouldn't wish for things to decrease, I want it to continue. I just find myself missing when everyone was a face I had seen often, rather than more I hadn't - in comparison to the mental side of it. It does show we are heading in the right direction.

Essex reached 457? That seems like a very respectable score to have. That said, I don't know what games are usually won by but from the limited knowledge I do have. It does seem a comfortable amount to have in a cricket game.

@Robbie Outside the penalty area, such as longer distance efforts, would be nice. Though, David McGoldrick is ticking this box from just outside the opposition's penalty area. The main thing is scoring though, but I would love to see some belters from distant and during cover routines.

I honestly don't know how match fixers can continue to have a career in football; I wouldn't want them at Notts. I think it's graceful when you put cheating ahead of your own talent, it's the easy root to try to get money, but it's more honourable to earn it perfecting your craft. Del Facey ended up in trouble for match fixing, there was another ex Notts player too. I know, Cristiano Montano did, but it's not him I am thinking of. it's someone else from the period when Facey was here.

Annoying, yes! Funny too!! It's very daft, but it's not the worst sending off I have seen. When Jake was playing for a Sunday league team, some joker was being an idiot towards him. I asked him to stop from the sidelines, he was smug, I told him to cut it out and that it wasn't productive to make such comments about a teammate who is new to playing with the group. Then another player of Jake's team, came running over to me and threatening to knock me out. ???? Referee gave him a straight red, said the player blamed me, but it showed how smart he was. 100% his fault, as banter is one thing, but this situation wasn't that. That's by far the stupidest sending off I have seen. Unwarranted, and obvious outcome. I should have had the team was being thrashed too. I regret upsetting Jake, but I stand by my actions because I wasn't aggressive or rude.

Both are great lads, who I hope start to show their potential and manage to come up the level in which they are currently playing. They could be useful players in the National League given the time. They join Shaun Brisley at the club too.

He should do well with them, sometimes there are good players who only excel with smaller clubs or teams with lesser talent in them. It can help lift performances of the likes of Will Randall, when they have the focus and if they don't get it at clubs it can lead to a less focused showing. I mean this with no disrespect, but I believe he's one of those types who like to carry a team and be the main focus. I do find it a bit funny that it's taken him so long to find a club, I wondered if he would return to Sutton United. Very average player for Notts, one who looked to have the quality but not the interest to perform well enough to be starting or getting minutes on the pitch. Which, it's a real shame as we offered a platform to head in the right direction with his career.

I would agree, it's just a tough start. I see them being about a mid-table team, so I am sure their results will pick up. I just hope it doesn't mean that Derek Adams gets the push, because he is more than good enough to turn things around given the time. Morecambe have had some good seasons in recent years, but they just need to pick themselves up and look to improve in time. Losing key players is never easy to bounce back from, but for a club of their size they are worth wishing the best to.

It was great to see Jim and his son back at Meadow Lane. He'll always be welcomed here, and he gave us so much more than some fans realise. I felt pleased to see him being acknowledged more respectfully, as earlier last season there were a lot of disrespectful comments about him being past it. He proved himself with good performance over time, especially when the team struggled. He's a real modern day legend! Someone who should be held with higher regards than Michael Doyle.

I am sure we will continue to see improvements, it's against the bigger teams where eventually we should see further signs of the squad becoming better. It takes time; nothing is lost if you don't push for better things. There's no shame in losing the game, pleased for Pies' to get two goals.

I have just taken some cough and cold medicine, I think I am coming down with a cold. Today, I am focusing on catching up with various unfinished tasks. Otherwise, there's not much for me to report on. The house feels a bit of a ghost town now that Ellie and Ava are back to learning (college and school). I hope everyone is having a good Tuesday, I especially wish it for @magpiejue who's mum is celebrating her 93rd birthday today. ❤️

He's been in incredible form; I certainly hope that he wins because it's nice to see him earning the recognition. I know there will be some fans who would like Jodi Jones to fly under the radar, but that's not what special players do. If he wins, it won't make him any more wanted by other clubs than he already is. So, let's enjoy his form and performances, with hope that he extends his stay due to the enjoyment he gets from being around Meadow Lane.

I don't really want to give much thought to those fans who can't give Stuat Maynard support, however, I am not sitting on the fence here, but I can understand why some fans were doubtful. I would hope by now we're all mostly on board with him as the head coach. Much of last season was a natural thing, which thankfully we pushed through but in terms of learning experience that is vital. I have always found Maynard to be insightful with his approach to setting up the team; I could see and acknowledge the weaknesses in the squad. I think there was an element that some players performed better under Luke Williams, that might be considered to be his players and that they didn't quite give Maynard the support. The main thing is pushing and improving, returning to League One could be massive for Notts. There's little reason for negativity towards him, but I do feel there are some fans who can't give credit when it's due. Defensively, this season we are better, and I honestly believe credit here is somewhat deserved to Maynard. I believe if WIlliams were still here, he would have been asking the board for more attacking minded players and that we might still have some faults in defence.

congratulations, @BromPie. It's great to see you coming on and joining in. The achievements members can earn, along with awards, is a nice touch to the community. We used to have a more feature-rich award feature, where mods and myself would award people for their participation. On older forums, there used to be a post rank that increased based on contributions, but now it's all tied in with the reactions and content. I utilize some of the traditional methods that community software employs to recognise the contributions of its members.

League Two's Vincent Kompany. No doubt at this level he's one of the best defenders in the league, us being linked and ultimately signing for us was very exciting. I knew he would make a huge difference, it was Matty Platt that I was unsure about, not that I didn't rate him as a defender but because Bradford City fans claimed he couldn't pass a ball. Yet he did praise his defensive mindset, which seems to give Jacob Bedeau confidence to be even more at his best.

I think Greg Abbott is an alright assistant manager, but that's his level. He does have an eye for players, but I am not sure if it's always his best asset. If Carlisle is asking him to make recommendations, I see nothing wrong with that role because Elliott Whitehouse for example just needed game time. He did well once he found a club that would give him starts, although he's fallen down the football pyramid, he was never a bad player. The issue the season we had with Abbott and Shaun Derry, it was a budget issue and the focus of wanting to find "young" players. I thought Derry would have got us back up to League One had he stayed and whilst we had a decent season with Ricardo Moniz, who again, isn't at fault for how things turned out, I do think sacking Derry was a mistake. Abbott is a decent coach, so scouting shouldn't be that difficult for him. I can't say I know much about their issues, but I don't think it would be Abbott's fault. If he's actually signing them, then that might be different, but I assume he's just recommending players to the club. I once gave Greg Abbott (whilst he was with Shaun Derry) a PON business card. I asked if I could interview them, Derry looked uneasy and Abbott looked at the card, then responded "What do I want with this?" I told him to have a look at the site and that I hoped they would be open to the interview. He looked pretty unsure about what I had given him. Quite bemusing, it wasn't in a rude way either. More oblivious and dense.

A friend said that they spoke to Macaulay Langstaff this past Saturday, and mentioned that he seemed optimistic and said that the club haven't given up on him. So, it's possible that he's being slowly introduced in the right games. Though, the Millwall manager doesn't seem all that confident and seems to be quite fickle. They would make a huge mistake by not giving at least a season to embed. If they go down, then he will find his form with them and should help fire them back up, so I wouldn't be concerned as a Millwall fan. I've said this a few times here, their midfield needs a bit more fight but defensively, Millwall are very poor. They would do well to sign a few good players in this department, especially a proper Championship level centre back.
