  1. It's very important we don't put things off, or live subconsciously. Life is already very short, so getting checks and looking after yourself should be the highest priority - despite it being hard times with aspects of emotions, time, and other commitments.
  2. I do miss watching the results come in, I remember when @super_ram used to do the Football pools, and he would be listening to the results to see if he had won anything. It's also some of the better parts of games like LMA Manager, where they replicated the teleprinter and scores being announced.
  3. I went to see Sum 41 yesterday, they lived up to the expectations, and I left feeling it was the best gig I have been too. Sometimes, I feel bands let the fans down but with this being their final tour - after their 8th album. The support band were awful, I have seen them as a supporting act 3-4 times now. Each time, I have hated The Bronx. I get what Sum 41 did, set the bar low with them and then play their own hearts out. It felt like I were being soundboarded (like waterboarding but with terrible sound). It was worth going, as I haven't managed to see them before, and I know it meant a lot to Kate.
  4. I've encountered various accounts regarding his alleged spitting on a match official, which resulted in a stadium ban. Whilst away, I heard Forest fans blindly supporting him and all sorts of things from he had a cough, to he was getting rid of phlegm. It wouldn't surprise me, he seems like that sort of person in my opinion who would overreact and do something stupid in the process. I am not sure if he has any case to stand on though.
  5. Cal Robert's departure came at the right time for us, and him. Even though I felt gutted that he was leaving, Aberdeen was such a huge step-up for him and the fee we obtained no matter how much would have helped Notts. It's great to see him playing so well, plus scoring. I still believe he could play EFL football, but with his injuries and being 27-years-old. I think Notts would want to find someone a bit younger, and less likely to suffer setbacks. We already have a fair few on our books, so it wouldn't be a wise thing in my opinion. Despite this, I would welcome Roberts back in a heartbeat - I just don't believe he fits what we would be seeking now though.
  6. @DangerousSausage: I took some pictures this past Saturday, as we went to Winthorpe to escape a busy Skegness. Yet we planned to visit some of GP's favourite locations, which my eldest daughter finally managed to walk under one of the underpasses in the area. One of the last times she did, she was sat on my mum's knee - whilst Super pushed her into a deep pool of water. We had a storm, where the drains filled, and it left one end with a large body of water. For some reason, Super thought it would be a great idea to push her electric wheelchair through it. Obviously, the electric side had been disengaged but remarkably silly considering it could have caused issues for the battery. I can still hear my mum shouting "Barry" and "stop". ???? Poor Ellie lost one of her trainers as Kate focused on walking through it - so Jake and Ellie didn't get wet. Whilst I just pushed my mum completely through the water, without giving much thought to me getting soaked. I remember it reaching just above my socks, and thankfully mum's battery wasn't damaged. This gave us all a good laugh over the years, despite Super sometimes not showing much of a funny bone. Since GP's passing, we have tried to walk through it, but it's always been flooded. The last time we tried, it was more flooded than the time I have just shared. I could imagine, @Fan of Big Tone laughing his head off at this story. He might even find himself wet from all the laughter. ????????????
  7. It seems every week, or so, Notts are earning another positive stat, award, or record. It's very impressive! It wasn't that long ago, we would be lucky to have a player in the team of the week, maybe the odd manager of the month reward. These days, Notts collect almost everything, and compete with the top English teams. Such as, the most goals scored as mentioned before. Assists with Jodi Jones, also put us up there with Manchester City players.
  8. I need to re-find my form. ???? @Robbie and @thommo, you guys are storming it right now.
  9. Derby County 2-0 Hull City (Joker) Plymouth Argyle 1-2 Preston North End Cambridge United 0-0 Burton Albion Lincoln City 2-1 Stockport County Bradford City 1-0 Doncaster Rovers Newport County 0-1 Fleetwood Town Barnet 1-1 Rochdale Ebbsfleet United 0-0 Wealdstone
  10. I thought David McGoldrick put a lot of effort into his performance, and for the most part, he looked the most likely to create anything noteworthy. He gave the ball away a few times, but on one instance he had won it back. He went on to win it back, I thought he played very well.
  11. Yes, it’s still there. It remains exactly the same as it was when I was younger, except the pub attached to it burned down a few years ago. You might remember a small gift shop that stood opposite. It always had knick-knacks, but the elderly lady who owned it sold up and retired. The Smiths purchased it, along with the Derbyshire Miners' Welfare building and the lifeguard watchtower that the shop was part of. It’s now a fancy pub, with fancy prices, fancy chairs, and even fancier clientele. The café that used to be behind the shop is now the outdoor seating area for that posh pub, complete with glass windbreaks for an even more upscale effect. There’s even a stylish outdoor bar, which they’re too pretentious to use, but it looks good nonetheless. Unfortunately, with the Dunes pub having burned down, one of the owners has been forced back into working in the arcade. She sits at the change booth, looking quite miserable and rather stuck-up. If you politely ask her for change, and manage to avoid any fuss, she tells you to use one of the many change machines, which rarely work. She even once frog-marched Jake to one, only to eat humble pie when it wouldn’t function, despite her trying twenty times. I used to love the arcade; I hold it dear to my heart and have so many childhood memories associated with it. The old attendants were like friends, and one still remains. He used to look a lot like the actor who voiced the character in "Bill and Ben, the Flowerpot Men." I think he was also in "Cold Feet," though I can’t recall the actor's name, but he still resembles him. Working with the owner, he’s bound to see some changes over the years.
  12. The whole decision regarding Jatta, David McGoldrick, and Jevani Brown seemed strange, especially given the options we had on the bench if one needed to be substituted due to injury. I thought Notts played very poorly; no one made space or attacked as a team. It felt like we were relying on one player to deliver the ball into the box, while 2-3 of our players were outnumbered by seven defenders marking them. We improved as the match went on, but I couldn’t see where a goal would come from. It must have been frustrating for those who turned up, so credit to the fans. Notts needed to pass the ball around better and give Barrow a chance to create space, but we were lucky to get a penalty. I must say, David McGoldrick is quite predictable in where he will shoot, and his penalties aren’t the best. Of course, I’m pleased for him that it went in, but sooner or later, better goalkeepers will know exactly how to handle it.
  13. Based on yesterday's performance, I believe we need to focus on putting the ball into areas where we can take shots. Instead of trying to walk the ball into the net, I found Notts to be quite unimpressive, and I think Harrogate will aim to defend tightly and block our attempts. At this point, it’s clear how much Jodi Jones is thinking about how to adapt to the opposition, yet no one seems to be doing the same. We can isolate Jatta and expect him to take chances, but yesterday he rarely had more than two players near him. No one tried to create space, draw a defender away, or open up opportunities for others. This is something we really need to start doing.
  14. I thought this was an EFL Trophy game, but judging some of the comments, I am not the only one. ???? Hopefully, Notts will put out a competitive squad but allow some to be rested. It's not to disrespect Barrow, but rest legs ahead of of the weekends game. Harrogate have established themselves at this level, and bring a successful Non League style to League Two. So, I would hope even if we start a strong squad, that we bring in fresh legs just rest people. Barrow away, will be interesting to see how we do.
  15. @menzinho very sad to learn about the passing of your neighbour, plus how easily people are to throw stuff away but then again, dealing with it can be hard when you are grieving. I've made ice cream at home, it's much healthier and nicer. I wished Cheeky would let me buy a machine to do it but our kitchen is quite small, cand the work space is limited. It's not that difficult to make from scratch, so I hope you enjoy your new ice cream maker, and manage to get creative with it. -- I've had a lovely day at Skegness, we went to the sea aquarium and the dinosaurs exhibit. We then had a quick snack, the girls had ice cream, Jake had a jumbo hotdog, Super had fishcakes, chips and mushy peas and I had a chip buttie. Then we spent some time on the beach, which was brilliant fun.
  16. Are speaking Winthorpe Avenue area, where there used to be a pub called "The Dunes" with an attached arcade called 'The Smiths Amusements', or are we talking the old Robin Hood arcade, which "The Lookout" purchased and turned into their family entertainment area, building a new arcade to the side of the pub as you walk up, @DangerousSausage?
  17. We had a very good player on our hands when we signed Johnnie Jackson. I thought it was a brilliant signing, and I believe his time with us could have been better had he managed to settle in Nottingham. However, I overheard comments he made about Notts, Nottingham, and other matters during a meeting at my former workplace. The media reported that he couldn't settle with his family in Nottingham, but the truth is he saw signing for us as a step back in his career. He believed he was bigger than Notts County and had already made efforts to leave, but we would only allow him to go out on loan at first. Professional players sometimes come with attitudes, and while you could easily forgive a young player for being ambitious, what I heard from him that day has been something I found difficult to forget. I don't dislike him; I hate him. Any player who believes Notts would be a good move, only to become two-faced and feel entitled to play at a higher level, doesn't deserve respect. He didn't like fighting for his place, and while I don't particularly care if he hated Nottingham, disrespecting Notts County really angered me.

  19. Almost the end of day 2, it's been a blast. We haven't yet managed to get to the sea front, today it's been raining on and off, sometimes very heavily. We went for a meal in a arcade/pub called "Empire". They do really nice meals, and I had a pizza. I forget what Super had, but it kept him quiet. He hasn't had a kip today, so it must have been the early start! After walking around, and popping in a few arcades - one if which @super_ram came 1st out of 4 in a Super Mario Kart, against Jake, Ellie and Ava. We strolled back along Roman Bank, and stop for a final drink before calling it a night. It's very windy tonight, but honestly, I do mean Super! ????
  20. I thought the result showed the level of improvement not only the new signings have made, but what is brought to the team under Stuart Maynard. It sounded like Wimbledon felt they could get more, and by all accounts they do sound as if they were the better team. Performances sometimes have to be overlooked, because the result is that important - as is returning to winning ways on home soil. We have the foundation to prove our promotion chasing credentials, so let's not get tied up in the performance. I am sure the squad sees there's a need for improvement in the long term, but the short term is maximising the points we pick up. Last season, I would have feared 1-0 wouldn't have been enough, considering how much Wimbledon threw towards us, and by all accounts defensively we were decent and Alex Bass exceptional between the sticks.
  21. So far, it’s a bit rainy and dull here in Skegness. Kate and I went to collect Super, who is staying the night with us. We had an early start, catching two taxis to the train station. The journey was very pleasant and quiet. Once we arrived at our destination, we headed straight to where we’re staying. After a brief rest, we all had a little sleep, mainly for Super and his beauty routine. We’ve now ventured out and are currently sitting in The Suncastle. We’ll be moving on soon, but Super is happy as he’s just had a beer.
  22. Blackburn Rovers 2-0 Swansea City QPR 0-1 Portsmouth Blackpool 0-3 Barnsley Lincoln City 1-2 Birmingham City Bradford City 2-0 Gillingham (Joker) Port Vale 1-0 Fleetwood Town Maidenhead United 0-0 Hartlepool United Sutton United 0-2 Oldham Athletic
  23. Down vote's very much a Reddit thing, I believe it's counterproductive. The general purpose is intended to make relevant content show at the very top, but over the years sites like Reddit keep just having it as a means to disagree. I am a member of Reddit, and often get downvoted by trolls. Many of my responses often reflect themes of despair and hopelessness. and related areas, and I always post useful advice which is different to every response, so I really don't like the idea of it. I have always seen the Pride of Nottingham as a place to promote togetherness, and constructive discussions. I wouldn't want negative reactions to diminish someone's effort. Whilst the majority of members are mature enough to handle it, I don't see it as productive. We also do have some under the age of 18, to which I wouldn't want the feature to be misused or see them discouraged just because people don't agree with comments. Haha, Surprised, Confused and Sad can all be taken in different ways. Disagreeing with a post can be done in a reply, where you can give a proper reply as to why you disagree, therefore you can generate a discussion respectfully that points out differences. When you rely on a reaction, without addressing it - it can see a bit personal and very counterproductive. I firmly believe if you encourage positive behaviour, positivity will shine. If you allow room for anything, that can be taken negatively it can lead to bigger issues. It's not about keeping the community in cotton wool; it's about framing the site in the right way. I'll PM you. I would be interested to see these comments. I'm not suggesting that they don't exist, but I am curious to see them and I would make sure that the behaviour doesn't continue if it does come across as disrespectful.
  24. Cedwyn Scott has done the right thing by opening up, asking for time, and seeking the appropriate support channels. This won't be an easy challenge for him to face, but we as fans can't allow him to feel like football is more important than his happiness. At the same time, we must offer him the support needed to show that once he does return that we will continue to be by his side. As a Notts player, his wellbeing is important but on a human level, his happiness and mental health is even more vital. Speaking from personal experience, people say it's brave to open up but some, like myself, can find speaking openly helpful. The worst part is if you don't have that support network, or if you seem to lose those you thought were your friends whilst struggling. Loneliness can be part of it, but depression is much more. It's a horrible thing to experience, so offering support is what helps. Again, I stress this isn't me making it about myself - but I relate to it.
  25. It's going to be interesting because they thrashed Carlisle United, whereas we were lucky to come back without conceding or even losing the start we had made in the game. I do feel more confident at Meadow Lane, despite using not having won our two previous games against Gillingham and Port Vale. They are quite free scoring, but if we defend effectively and avoid being pressed into passing the ball back to much - they should find us harder. Still I think Alex Bass might be relayed upon more than we have seen so far at Meadow Lane, I would be surprised if he didn't need to make some very important saves. League Two is still very unpredictable, with not much between many teams, and I just hope Notts are at their best. We need a strong squad performance, rather than a few individuals standing out. It has to start with the back, but Dan Crowley might be the player who keeps us on the front foot. It should be a great game, it's a shame I won't be there.
