  1. Bromley has a very tough task ahead of themselves, but they did well to rise in the National League and earn promotion. I would rather see teams like these, then Sutton in the Football League. Their journey could just be the beginning, it wasn't that long ago it seems, when Bournemouth and Brentford were underdogs in League Two.
  2. It was some time ago when I read much of the things Manchester City had been charged with, along with various threats from them about taking action over the FA. They seem to be able to avoid punishment, I am not sure the amount of money to them is a big thing. Which makes it not effective.
  3. Hugh Jackman might be more likely to favour Wolves.
  4. Life after a top class goalscorer will always be a difficult thing to navigate, but we do have goalscorers - even though I wished we would sign someone to breed further confidence. We need to keep in mind it took Macualay Langstaff some time to adjust and get his first EFL goal. Jatta has had a bedding in time from last season, which he has fully blossomed and should be fine to take our main striker position. The injuries are very common, most won't be serious and hopefully will become less as the season becomes under way. I think it's a very fair summary, which time will only tell. I don't see much concern about our pre-season; the starting XI looks strong. We just need to dig hard to make sure results go our way, if we can build on a good start then things should transform over time. Personally, I am more optimistic about the season, but these are potential concerns. Stuart Maynard is handling pressure of achieving good results and performances - against balancing those who want him to fail or have little faith in his ability. How the defence integrates into the squad. Life with Matty Palmer as the club captain and protecting him from further absence. Overcoming the challenges of a potentially tough beginning can be a daunting task. (Some fans refuse to give any time or accept draws).
  5. Air marked to watch. I did have it on when I stumbled across something which has been more pressing for me personally, but I do love the Magpie Circle and I will always sing praise for Paul Mace. I have stumbled across comments, which I think are unrealistic and somewhat unfair - such as saying certain questions should have been pressed. The club won't let Stuart Maynard speak freely, as they will want to protect him. This said, I do hope to catch it soon.
  6. I am sure all the coaching and management team are 100% behind the club and are trying their best to provide Stuart Maynard with important feedback. I think it's better that the technical area is no longer to be bombarded with players and staff. Not that it has stopped other clubs from doing this exact thing last season at Meadow Lane.
  7. 18-years-old, Nottingham born. Potential loan? I don't know enough about him to really comment on his quality, I know he's been a player that has been praised by Derby fans I know as being promising. We'll have to see how it plays out. Because I think it's more likely to be a loan, I can't see Derby allowing a youngster to leave for a fee.
  8. Fan Introduction Name: Joe Shillinglaw How long have you supported Tranmere Rovers? I have supported them since I was 11/12. Are you a season ticket holder? I used to have a season ticket but haven't renewed it this year due to working as a chef at weekends. Age? 25 Favourite Player? My favourite player is Lee O’Connor How do you think Tranmere Rovers performed in pre-season, and what are your expectations for the upcoming season? I think we’ve done very well in terms of transfers. A couple more signings could strengthen the squad. My expectation is definitely the playoffs, but I’d be happy with a top-ten finish. Pre-season results have been positive, with wins over Blackpool and Wigan. I think we would have struggled last season. Which players do you think will stand out for Tranmere against Notts County? Are there any new signings or young talents who have impressed you? Omari Patrick is a standout player. He’s quick and skilful. O’Connor can dictate play in midfield, and Luke Norris has looked great in pre-season. What are your thoughts on Nigel Adkins’ tactics and style of play? Do you think the current management team is the right fit for the club? His tactics are excellent. He’s a Premier League-level manager who has brought an exciting style of play to Tranmere. After a difficult start under Dawes, Adkins steadied the ship and secured a mid-table finish. We can’t thank him enough. What do you consider to be the team’s biggest strengths? Are there any areas where you think the team needs to improve? Our biggest strengths are undoubtedly Luke Norris, O’Connor, and Patrick. Defensively, we could be more solid, as we made some costly errors last season. How does this season compare to previous seasons in terms of optimism and excitement for the campaign ahead? Are there any past seasons or moments that you think are particularly significant for the club? The new signings have generated a lot of excitement. Connor Jennings’ 119th-minute winner against Newport to secure promotion is a standout moment. What made you become a Tranmere Rovers fan? Do you have any personal traditions or rituals related to supporting the team? I’m from Liverpool, but I started going to Tranmere matches with friends as a teenager and fell in love with the club. Which matches are you most looking forward to this season? How important are the matches against local rivals to you? I’m excited about the away game at Notts County as I live in Nottingham. Local derbies are always crucial. Three points against a rival is always satisfying. I’m also looking forward to visiting Chesterfield. Final comments from Chris The first game of any season is always a difficult game, preparing to face a team which has dramatically changed in the summer - with the addition of squad players. It naturally takes time for players to settle into a routine. Nigel Adkins will be seeing Notts' defence as an area to target but the strengthening of this area for the magpies' should make for a fair and entertaining game. Stuart Maynard still has many fans to win over; a good performance and a potential win might just be the start. The prediction for this would be a 1-1 draw, although either side could win it. 9. @liampie's comment is the approach the topic needs, as further comments only derail the discussion further. As I stated, I changed it to make things clearer. I didn't refer to it as clickbait, I changed it so that people wouldn't firstly become confused and secondly overlook the discussion. I wasn't aware the Portugal had a Jack Grealish look-a-like. I should have titled it as Liam did, that was an error on my part. I understand your frustration. As the author, you do have the right to make changes to your post. If you need assistance with deleting the topic, it might be helpful to reach out to a team member or report the topic for removal. Stating why, someone would happily assist but there really doesn't need to be a reason for that. Personally, I felt that the title needed to be a bit more descriptive. Which I have touched upon further before, let's work together to stir this discussion back on track.
  10. @Robbie I changed it, so it was clearer.
  11. I miss the days when Rangers would run away with the Scottish Premier League, at least then it was between them and Celtic.
  12. To be perfectly honest, this is something more warranted mid-way through the season if it was needed. We're going off our last campaign and pre-season, all things which we should eventually show improvements in. Our new defence does look a lot better, it's hard to evaluate them fairly when the squad is settling in and getting familiar with the playing style we plan to make. There's plenty of room to continue playing the way we have, by this I mean quick football that is both exciting and skilful. Yet it just means we have to take a more pragmatic and robust way in our defending. Do we have to have a large amount of possession? No. Can we hoof the ball if needed? We certainly should under the right circumstances. The players could be more disciplined in making runs/trying to open up the space, instead of waiting for it to happen, but these are all things which I think could happen with time.

    Riots

Perhaps, we should drop this 'me' and self-entitled attitude that seems to have been widely adopted and start putting what is best for our nation first-and-foremost? Political correctness should do one to some extent as well. This only encourages a culture of complaining or protesting. 90% of it could just be avoided.
  14. I'm trying to remember if I have heard his name before, but I am not all that into cricket, but I think I have. Either way, it's very sad news. https://www.theguardian.com/global/2024/aug/05/graham-thorpe-obituary Rest in Peace, Graham Thorpe.
  15. I think we can move on if this is confirmed, there are strikers who can score goals and the way in which Notts plays - we could find someone who might not have been prolific before. Provided a striker can make good movement, read the game and has a good level of finishing, there will be goals in our team. I would have liked him as a potential signing, but there's certainly options. It makes me wonder if we won't be signing anyone though.
  16. He doesn't look like Jack Grealish to me, not remotely, but I say people look-a-like to family and sometimes nobody agrees. Wait... It's Jota Silva, who does look similar. Maybe if Wish.com sold footballers?
  17. I'm not going to keep saying things about Andy Murray; I personally don't like him or his attitude, but I don't deny he's a good player. He would make a very good coach.
  18. Saturday, I spent most of the afternoon offline. We decided to have the film night then, so we popped out to a local shop to get treats (as bribery) to encourage it to be watched, without complaints. We ended up choosing IF, which is about imaginary friends. I thought it was very good, less story-based driven but full of meaningful messages about enjoying life etc. I also made some home-made popcorn, which is something I liked to do. A bit of oil, sugar stir it in nicely and then coat the popcorn kernels and shake every 20–30 seconds. On Sunday, I managed to go see @super_ram. No gardening, just catching up and talking. It was a decent weekend, thankfully not overbearingly warm.
  19. He swears to much to transition into a commentator for the BBC but punditry he might do. I really hope not, as at times I do enjoy watching Tennis. Plus, I hate to further say negative things about Andy Murray, but he's got no personality. He's not relatable and would bore me to sleep.
  20. I'm trying to relax whilst feeling a nice cool breeze through my window. I have been literally melting these past few days and at night I have struggled to sleep due to it. I've also earned a bit of a rest, since doing some gardening earlier in the week. The past few days, I have been tempted to go to Wilford Hill Cemetery, but it won't be today. So, I will rest up today and try to catch up on some of the things I have been otherwise tied up with. Tomorrow, I really do want to get out though, so I'll probably go see that person who calls himself Super Ram. We are planning to have a film night too, though I think that will be sometime in the upcoming week. As for making it to Wilford, I think Kate's spoken about Thursday for that. It's maintenance time and tidying things up, so if the weather is nice. We can take care of that...
  21. I believe it encouraged people to renew quicker, but I am less sure how many wouldn't have purchased a season ticket knowing that Notts were going to sell him. I certainly can understand why some fans would think it might impact the quality we see on the pitch and not everyone who purchases a season ticket can be defined as a supporter. Some just go to watch football. I know 4–5 people who have done this, just because they're Nottingham born and want to watch good football. To me, it seems unlikely to have made a large impact. It probably would have been very minor, if noticeable at all.
  22. I've never liked him, I don't deny he has been a good player at times. He was better than the likes of Tim Henman, but that doesn't mean much. The surrounding hype at times is unbearable, as is the whining he does when things don't go his way. He could play some superb tennis, but then look average sometimes against players ranked much lower than him. Seeing him on some of the game shows, like Question of a Sport, he takes himself way too seriously. In 2011, he played some of his best tennis, but I have found him very inconsistent. Good luck to him in retirement, but I hope it doesn't mean he'll transition into someone who appears frequently on our TV screens. There's enough annoying ex-sports personalities without him joining the ranks.
  23. The Caley fans seem highly sceptical with good reason. https://caleythistleonline.com/topic/36282-investment/page/16/#comment-569160
  24. I'm a little tied up, so I am not sure if I would be able to commit. Plus previous years, I would get these very annoying reminders sent frequently. I suppose it's one positive thing. Count me in too, I'll find something to shove in @super_ram's gob or ask Ava to tie his fingers up.
  25. I know other EFL clubs are still streaming games to overseas fans, as you have mentioned. Although I think the decision for Notts to change to a new site is probably holding this back for our fans. There's many features which I would have believed would be carried over to the new site, which are standard to all EFL clubs which is currently lacking. There's not been much actual work done on the new site since it's launch, which is disappointing. It might just take a bit of time, I'll try to get some clarification for you.
