Jodi Jones signs
Very pleased, he’s a versatile player and I think he’ll be used less in the wingback role next season. We’ve basically been able to play him as a winger in the wingback role because of how high up we play and how much we dominate. He rarely had to do any defending, but I can’t see it being that easy next season. I think he’ll play in the role behind the striker. Scott, Austin and Ruben (potentially) for those 2 positions behind the striker, that is some strength in depth there! He’ll have a full preseason with us too, I’d imagine after the time out he’s had next season should see him back to his best. Exciting times for us!

The Conference years
In a weird way I’ve enjoyed our spell in the 5th tier, watched some new teams, we won most weeks and like you say finished top 5 every season. Hardly a disastrous way to spend 4 years in my opinion but it’s certainly a great feeling to back in the EFL! I won’t miss the general shenanigans and incompetence of the NL Board, but we can look back and laugh now. Some highlights (lowlights) for me… Getting played off the park by Barrow(celona) and genuinely thinking we’ll be down here forever! James Rowe the Chesterfield manager telling an opposition player he’ll bite his f’ing nose off. Jim Parmenter telling us that their pitch at Dover was fine yet he had to record a video inside because it was raining so much… Gary Johnson dancing around when Torquay beat us in the “you stole our players” derby. (Funny how the last two are in NL South now, enjoy it lads, you could be there a while)

GET IN! What a game, what a way to win. Amazing achievement from everyone at the club! WE ARE GOING UP!

Match Discussion: Play Off Semi-Final - The Wood (H)
Think I’ve just about recovered after a good nights sleep, just trying to recall the game and even though it was just yesterday it’s funny how in the heat of it all parts of it are just blurs! Going into to half-time I just thought, “no, not like this, we can’t end this season by being s’housed”. We started the game really well but not scoring dented our confidence and Boreham Wood’s grew. I love the guy but Ruben had a bit of a mare yesterday. I think his 3rd chance the one where Langstaff or Palmer, I genuinely can’t remember, lays it off to him I was on my feet ready to celebrate! And I thought his head noticeably dropped after the penalty save, he really didn’t do much in the game after that. Langstaff was quiet but he still had a couple of great chances, he didn’t get a lot of the ball but it’s hard to make runs in behind when you’re defending against a team that sits that deep. Hopefully Langstaff and Ruben are saving their goals for the game at Wembley! What a time for Aden to get his first two goals though, we saw the absolute best of him at times defending one on one against Ndlovu, luckily that lapse in concentration didn’t result in us going 3-1 down but his reaction and quickness got him out of trouble. Jodi Jones helped sway the game in our favour too, very good on the ball and the quality in his left foot was there for all to see. That moment when he scored at the end, that is going to take some beating as a best ever memory for me.

Match Discussion: Play Off Semi-Final - The Wood (H)
Oh. My. God. I cannot go through that again, that game has taken years off me! Just total relief at the end for me, madness, I totally thought we'd blown it at HT.

Guess Who? The Notts County Edition
My guess would be Phil Turner. I know it’ll be a player before my time, we’ve only recently had skilful midfielders and the ones before that never won any silverware! I don’t know if he won any cups for a previous club but he came out of retirement after 8 years to come on as a sub for Grantham Town. That is incredibly brief!

Guess Who? The Notts County Edition
The legend in his home county and argumentative nature makes me think it could be Roy Carroll.

Match Discussion: Game 45 - The Stones (A)
Is that a lesson learned there, if we do take Palmer off, make sure we have Bostock on the pitch so someone can play that deep midfield role. Credit to the team for not crumbling though and really pleased for Jim, his second hat-trick and this time there were fans to witness it! I didn’t follow any of the Wrexham game last night, I’d have been surprised had they not won. I’m not sure what more we could have done this season in terms of winning automatic promotion, we’re going to break the record for most points only second to Wrexham now. I just hope we can finish the job in the play-off’s because this team absolutely deserves to get promoted.

Match Discussion: Game 44 - The Cardinals (H)
I thought Woking’s press was good first half, only problem was their game plan revolved too much about stopping us and they didn’t really have much of a plan on the ball. They put in a lot of good work but as with most teams this year chasing the ball tires you out so as the game goes on we’re always more likely to score/play better. Baldwin back was big, he’s vital in that middle of defence/sweeper position. His pace means no one can really get the better of him. Bostock had a great game too covered a lot of ground and Palmer looked better when he pushed higher in the second half. Deserved goals for Austin and it was good to see Morias get some minutes, he’s got a powerful shot it won’t be long before he gets his first goal. I didn’t quite get the switch of wingbacks either, still don’t think JJ is best used here, it’s a touch of Roberts from last season, given he likes to play as inverted winger where does he fit in a formation that only uses wingbacks for width. Chicksen got into plenty of good positions but had to use his weaker foot, we looked better with a natural right footer there. With the toughest games out the way, this run in feels like a bit of waiting game now. Just no bad injuries in the next two games please.

Is the Multiverse Theory the ultimate answer to life's biggest questions?
Yeah the theory is that the universe is constantly expanding. So I guess that means if we are living in an constantly expanding universe eventually, if there are other universes out there, we'll eventually expand into them. Doubt we'll ever able to prove it or find out though. Although I'm sure in another universe Scott’s penalty went in, can the scientists find that universe for us?

Match Discussion: Game 43 - Red Dragons (A)
Pfft… Don’t know what to say after that, just gutted and missing that penalty at the end, that hurt. I’m not going to criticise Scott for the miss, he had to courage to step up in an incredibly pressurised moment but it wasn’t to be. Let’s not forget Wrexham are some team at this level, but that was the one game when we couldn’t afford any defensive mis-haps. I know we play a high line but the pace of the likes of Brindley and Baldwin is crucial to that, especially against the runs in behind and movement of Mullin (a great player who tarnish's his rep with the diving). I think we missed them today. That was the automatic spot game in all honesty, it’ll be some monumental collapse if Wrexham don’t finish top now. This season can still end in promotion for us though. We’ve played in a massive game today, with a lot of pressure and eyes on it. There probably won’t be as much media coverage for the Play-off final. If we get there, maybe in a funny sort of way this game will have helped.

Match Discussion: Game 42 - The Stones (H)
On what was a very emotional day we did what we needed to do and luckily for us Halifax decided to make the title race a little bit closer. This game could’ve been a potential slip-up, you could see on the faces of the players and staff during the interviews this week it’s been really tough for them but they channelled their emotions incredibly well and put in another great performance, one we’ve been so used to seeing this season. Agree we could’ve had more goals, some impressive performances and pleased to see Vinny on the scoresheet too. It seems his loan was beneficial and he’s looking re-energised for us now even in a unfamiliar role, could he be a potential challenger for Chicksen next season? Don’t get me wrong it’s great the results today went perfectly but it means I’m even more nervous about Monday and even more desperate for us to get a win! This is some season.

Match Discussion: Game 40 - The Iron (H)
Can't really add to what's already been said it was a very impressive and comfortable win. Couldn't have picked a better day for the community day, did we pay a fee to Scunny to make us look like prime Barca?! That'll really help sway those new and younger first time fans to come back! And Macca's equals a club record. I didn't see it coming at the start of the season but as the games have gone on it seemed more and more likely. I'll be amazed if he doesn't break that and the NL goal scoring record now. I'm just glad he's in contract, that price tag just keeps climbing. I'm sure lot's of clubs want him but they'll have to pay a really good fee for the privilege.

Match Discussion: Game 39 - The Bees (A)
Dominated pretty much that first half and then they score from a long throw in the last seconds. Football eh… I think had we gone into half-time winning Barnet would’ve pushed even more and that potentially makes it easier to get a second goal. I just hate the fact in our current scenario it’s two points dropped rather than a good away point, any other season that’s a decent result.
-
Match Discussion: Game 36 - The Lillywhites (A)
I have to say when I first saw the team sheet I was nervous, Brooks making his debut against a team that will cross the ball into the box at every opportunity. And then lot’s of attacking players on the pitch, but maybe that was just because we were so short of defenders… Brooks had an eventful game, saved a pen, gave away a pen (was it a foul though?) and then could’ve given away another pen for a foul that was apparently in the box. I think we definitely deserved something after a dominate second half though. A point here now is decent, especially given that Wrexham didn’t win either.
-
Match Discussion: Game 35 - The Daggers (H)
Incredibly unlucky to lose that. Hit the post a couple of times, about 3/4 shots cleared off the line and just general chances that we missed. Langstaff grabbed with two hands and pulled to the ground by a defender that turned his back on the ball and made no attempt to win in it... Pffft. Did we over commit players to find that winner? I don’t know as I feel in this title race you need the 3 points. And Effiong in a Notts shirt is putting that into row-z every day of the week, that’s just football for you. I’m trying not to get too downbeat by it all, one game won’t define this season. Lots of games left, and I’ll be amazed if the Wrexham finish the season unbeaten, especially when the real pressure will be on in the last few games.
-
Match Discussion: Game 34 - The Shrimpers (H)
I might as well just copy and paste my comments from the last game! Running out of good things to say about this team. I’m liking this scoring 4 goals to win a game at the moment, definitely helps calm my nerves, we should keep it going until the end of the season... Langstaff, just sensational, 32 goals and all from open play too (I think, has he scored a pen?). The all-time NL record of 40 is looking very achievable for him now.
-
Match Discussion: Game 21 - The Bees (H)
And breathe… Was anyone worried at half-time? I wasn’t ???? ???? Got to give everyone credit for that turn-around, like to hear what people thought about our first goal, was it controversial? Sounded like it wasn’t a head injury and it’s up to the ref to stop the game. It’s a competitive contact game after all and one of my bug-bears is players kicking the ball out for players who aren’t actually injured. Great result, even though Wrexham dropped points we’ve just got focus on us. We’re doing unbelievably well at the moment I love this team, just hope we can keep this winning run going!
-
Match Discussion: Game 21 - The Bees (H)
Yeah, should be cracker, both teams are in good form. Barnet’s issue used to be that they were only good going forward but they seem to have sorted things out defensively too now. Agree that this is another tough game as I’ve no doubt Barnet will come and have a go. Hopefully they’ll leave some gaps for us to exploit and you just know Ruben will be raring to go, that’s if he gets back into the starting 11. And funny how times have changed as we’re on a 5 winning game run against them, so we’re becoming Barnet's bogey team now!
-
Match Discussion: Game 28 - The Spireites (A)
Another win, and it’s a big one, arguably our toughest away game given the rivalry. Attack wise I thought we played ok, we just didn’t really work the ball through the midfield quick enough to beat the Chesterfield press and we struggled to find those pockets of space that we usually do. Macca's goal was great though, that touch was absolute quality! But that corner a side, we defended very well, Slocombe wasn’t really troubled. Yes we sat quite deep at times but Chesterfield really struggled to find any space and Rawlo, Baldwin and Cameron defended our box terrifically. A note for Dobra, if you dish out, you’ve got to take it. Made me laugh at the time when he was nudged in the back he threw himself to the floor and their physio’s were holding his head like he’d been flung through a car-windscreen.
-
Match Discussion: Game 30 - The Shaymen (H)
I was only able to listen but I don’t recall Halifax having a shot! Really sounded like the 1-0 flattered them and it was one of those games where we didn’t need a 2nd or 3rd! If they don’t want to make a game of it, so be it, we’ll be fresh for Tuesday now. Ref sounded dodgy and seen a few comments on the socials that it was a pen on Nemane. And what was with him seemingly handing out random yellows at the end? At this stage of the season, I’ll take any win no matter the score, just keep clocking those 3 points. I’ll start worrying about the goal difference if we’re still level with about 5 games to go!
-
Match Discussion: Game 26 - Latics (A)
Like dripsey3 says, a point isn’t bad, it’s just our current form and the fact we took the lead each time makes it feel like 2 points lost. Still averaging over 2 points a game and that’s the main thing. I’ll have to wait to see the highlights but the first goal sounded like a right gaffe and the penalty a soft one too.
-
Match Discussion: Game 26 - Latics (A)
Get an early goal (and then don't concede straight after) and I can imagine the Oldham fans will turn quite quickly. Just keep doing what we did against them and if they decide have a go this time, I'm sure we'll just exploit the space they leave behind. I like the idea of Luke Williams changing things up a bit just to keep Oldham guessing, but no-one deserves to be dropped after that performance. Maybe Langstaff, Bostock and TAR come in? Just need to make sure we don't go into this game feeling like we've won it before a ball is kicked or else there probably will be a shock result!
-
Match Discussion: Game 25 - Latics (H)
Even without Macca I thought we’d be ok today given Oldham haven’t won away all season. Scott’s no slouch, he’s got a great goal scoring return this season and today showed he’s not about to be outdone by his mate. I feel like I’m just repeating myself, but we are a well-oiled machine now, dominating and scoring at will. I’m just trying to ignore Wrexham/Chesterfield and enjoy this team. Only 1 loss so far this season and we could have 60 points before the year is out. Insane. Complete opposite for Oldham though, I remember when their new owner was like “Who are Dorking?” on his first interview. I think he thought they’ll be fine in this league but they’ve seriously underestimated it and have found that out the hard way. They’ll do well to stay up.
-
Match Discussion: Game 24 - The Tynesiders (H)
So the frost covers are down with heaters out too so should hopefully go ahead. And with Wrexham v Chesterfield off, that's us potentially points up with another game crossed off. I Imagine Gateshead would’ve been comfortably mid-table at worst had they kept hold of Langstaff and Scott. Their fans must feel pretty fed-up of hearing one of them has scored again, chances are they’ll get to see one live if they’re coming to the game! They have had the weekend off so they’ll be fresh, and for that reason I’d expect us to make a couple of changes too. Can’t just expect a win because of their league position, and hopeful they’re more likely to come and have a go than just sit back. I think we’ll be able to exploit them if they do.
