Sven-Göran Eriksson: A Legacy Remembered at Notts County
Where do I start to pay my respects to Sven-Göran Eriksson? His arrival was like Tommy Lawton coming to Meadow Lane in the 20th century. It caused a lot of excitement, with the media attention and the hope it gave our fans. It's sad that a con artist tricked him and our club. That single season was magical. The football and quality Notts showed on the pitch were amazing. We should remember Sven as the Director of Football. He embraced our club. His passing is very sad news. He was a brave person who helped many clubs. I hope Notts stands united with all those clubs.

Alassana Jatta: In The Goals.
He’s an integral part of the team, but this doesn’t mean we don’t need one more option upfront. I would give Cedwyn Scott a chance, allowing a different midfielder to play further up, maybe Curtis Edwards, or the club could bring someone in. Scott has goals in him if we play him in the right place. Yet, Alassana Jata has proven his worth with his early impact last season and his very good start to this campaign.

Match Discussion: Game 3 - The Mariners (H)
There is little room for errors in football. During the game, I thought the first two goals were perfectly fine. I do think Grimsby fans have a point about the offside, but I am still unsure about the handball. The camera angles don’t help, but it doesn’t confirm it for me. Notts played exceptionally well; this is the standard we need to set for ourselves. I don’t expect four goals in every game, but we need to be more clinical in finishing our chances. If a keeper does well, it’s easier to shrug off and explain. When you only get one shot on target, it doesn’t set the tone, even if it’s early. If Notts are to continue pushing for promotion, we will need consistency. It’s fine to perform this well when the Sky cameras are on, but we need to make sure we give a good account as often as possible. The football yesterday was pleasing and enjoyable to watch. Our players did well and deserve all the praise they are getting.

Match Report: Dan Crowley Double Seals Notts County's 4-1 Triumph Against Grimsby Town
What a fantastic win for Notts! The early goal by Jatta really set the stage for a marvellous display of football. Dan Crowley was undoubtedly the man of the match with his brilliant goals. It was great to see the team capitalising on their opportunities and showing clinical finishing. Grimsby struggled to cope with our relentless pressure. Even after they managed to score, our defence held firm, showing great resilience. This match will certainly boost the team’s confidence. The fans at Meadow Lane must have been overjoyed with that performance. Keeping this momentum going will be crucial for future fixtures. Let’s hope for more victories like this.

Charlton Athletic's Lucas Ness Joins Notts County on Three-Year Deal
Lucas Ness joining Notts is a big deal! A dynamic and versatile defender with loads of potential, he will undoubtedly add strength to our backline. His experience at Charlton Athletic, including 40 senior matches and Player of the Month accolades, demonstrates his quality. Moreover, his ability to play across the back three positions gives our team much-needed flexibility. It’s also great news that the club is giving him ample time to recover from his injury before expecting him to perform. Welcome, Lucas! Looking forward to a great season ahead.

Stuart Maynard Calls for Better Officiating to Protect Jodi Jones and Other Players
Some of the challenges on Jodi Jones have been uncalled for. Tranmere and Fleetwood were going for him instead of the ball, and Jodi just got on with it. He seemed to struggle at times against Fleetwood due to the challenges on him. I noticed a lot of limping, but it was probably just a dead leg or something like that. I thought in the second half, Notts played some stunning football. Stuart Maynard is right; when we catch the issues early, we can work on them quicker.

Opposition View: Grimsby Town Fans Share Early Season Insights - Standout Players and Team Morale
I found Elliott’s and Neil’s views insightful. Elliott brings a youthful optimism to Grimsby Town’s strategy and early performance, while Neil offers a seasoned perspective on the team’s depth and potential weaknesses. Their analysis of standout players like McJannet, Khouri, and Davies was particularly enlightening. These fans clearly know their team well, and it’s great to see such engaged supporters.

Stuart Maynard Eyes Fortress Meadow Lane Ahead of Notts County Home Opener
Maynard's approach this season needs to be spot on. Emphasising the new pitch's benefits, especially in terms of ball speed, could be a game-changer for us. It’s clear the club is investing not just in players but in the infrastructure needed to get the most out of them. The partnership with the university for training facilities shows a long-term vision for the club, which is fantastic to see. The focus on turning Meadow Lane into a fortress is exactly what we need, and with the level of support from our fans, it’s definitely achievable. Fleetwood will be a tough challenge, but I believe the preparation and strategy in place will give us the edge.

Conor Grant Excited for Meadow Lane Debut: 'The Pitch Looks Beautiful'
If he carries on like this, he won’t win over the fans. However, it will prove that selling Aaron Nemane wasn’t a bad decision after all. Yes, I would have preferred to keep Nemane, but it’s not like the rumour about Dan Crowley, who we must keep. I think Conor Grant is an excellent young player. At 23, he has his best years ahead of him.

6000 Season Tickets Sold
Good achievement. The club has done outstandingly well to sell so many tickets. I hope we get over 10,000 for our first home game. It should be a good crowd.

Fake Football Merchandise.
It’s a bit of a farce, and bringing attention to it will make it harder to stop. There’s no easy solution to getting rid of fake shirts on the internet, but clubs can advise fans and try to reason with people who buy fake shirts. It’s bad for football, but worse when clubs get involved.

Where are they now : Fabian Speiss
I liked Fabian Speiss. I thought he had potential, and the timing would have worked if Notts had better defenders. The squad was okay, and I think we overachieved in the first season he featured. He did seem to struggle with confidence. He had good ability to react and save shots but lacked communication.

Mark Stallard: Notts County Fans the Backbone of a Promising League Campaign
Stall will have experienced it first-hand from his playing days. I give the current squad some slack because I can see they are a good bunch and they care. Drawing against Shrewsbury wasn’t a bad result, and we can’t always expect to stay on top of a game. While the errors were disappointing, we took them to penalties. I feel sorry for the players who missed; it’s not like they did it on purpose.

Match Report: Notts County Fall in Dramatic Penalty Shootout After Six-Goal Thriller Against Shrewsbury Town
A rollercoaster of emotions in that match! Notts started brilliantly, dominating the first half and taking an early lead. The turnaround in the second half was tough to watch, but credit to Shrewsbury for taking their chances. When Jatta scored to level it at 3-3, I thought we had it in the bag. Penalty shootouts are always a bit of a lottery, and unfortunately, luck wasn’t on our side this time. Despite the defeat, there are many positives to take forward. Our attacking play was top-notch, and we created enough chances to win the game outright. Let’s regroup and focus on the league now.

New Signing Jacob Bedeau Thrilled to Be Part of Notts County's Journey
Jacob Bedeau’s debut for Notts County was impressive. His calmness and leadership in defence, alongside Matty Platt and Lewis Macari, helped secure a point at Tranmere Rovers. His commitment to the club’s vision is encouraging.

Faces of PON 24-25: Tranmere Rovers (A)
Nice one, @Chris. I hope you enjoyed the game. It was very lively at Tranmere. Their away end still has vibes of the 70s with how quickly you can exit straight into the streets. Good pictures, pal!

Tranmere Rovers 0-0 Notts County: Magpies Dominate Possession but Settle for a Point at Prenton Park
It’s a bit frustrating to see us dominate possession and not come away with all three points. Tranmere’s defence was really solid, but we had enough chances to win the game. Bass was fantastic in goal, making key saves when it mattered. Our debutants showed promise, and there’s definitely potential in this squad. What we desperately need now is a goal scorer who can capitalise on all these chances. I’m optimistic about our season given how we played today, but we can’t afford to drop points in games where we dominate so much. Here’s hoping the next match sees us more clinical in front of goal

Aaron Nemane to MK Dons, Conor Grant to Notts.
Two key players, Aaron Nemane and Macaulay Langstaff, have been sold. Both were firm favourites. I hope the decision to let Nemane go and bring in Conor Grant ends up being a smart one. I wouldn’t have made the exchange myself. I think Nemane’s brilliance going forward outweighs his weakness in defending. At least we still have Jodi Jones. However, I expect him to play deeper and as a wing-back now.

Cedwyn Scott Eager to Embrace New Role as Notts County’s Number 9
Cedwyn Scott's transition from an out-and-out striker to an attacking midfielder could be a game-changer for Notts County this season. Despite the challenges he faced with a severe injury, his dedication to rehabilitation and the team is nothing short of inspiring. His readiness to accept the number 9 shirt, a number with significant pressure and history, speaks volumes about his character and ambition. With the departure of Langstaff, Scott's willingness to fill in and his positive mindset will surely inspire the squad. Here’s hoping his optimism translates to the pitch and brings about a successful season for the Magpies.

Stuart Maynard Confident Ahead of Notts County's Season Opener Against Tranmere Rovers
I’m always very optimistic about the first game of the season. Tranmere will be a good test, and both teams have strengthened a lot since we last played each other. I’m glad we focused on fixing the defensive issues. I’m still hopeful that we sign one or two players, but I do think we have a good squad as long as no key players get injured. There’s certainly depth, and I think most of the nine signings make Notts stronger as a team.

Old Wheelbarrow Repairman's Almanac
How Do You See This New Season Going For Notts? I think the squad is perfectly adequate for doing well. Much will depend on fitness, luck with avoiding injuries, form, and if Stuart Maynard can get Notts winning under him. I do think we have the quality in the right areas to push for promotion. What Do You Expect From The Team? I just want the squad to work hard and cut out simple mistakes. If we lose, which will happen, it’s better to lose having tried than to gift results away. All we can ask is that they work hard and try. And What Will Be Notts Final Position in the League 2 Table? I’m going to say 7th. I think playoffs is a respectable assumption.

Matchday programmes scrapped
I suppose down the line the decision could always be reversed. Not that I see it happening, but for those who collect them or enjoy reading the content before kick-off/half-time, they will look like stooges worrying about the league table, pulling their phones out and staring into them.

Can Notts and Others Make the Leap? A Look at League 2 Promotion Prospects
Notts’ attacking prowess combined with their defensive improvements should indeed make them strong contenders in League Two. It’s great to see the team evolving and becoming more competitive. As for Port Vale, George Byers’ move is certainly a testament to Moore’s influence. If they can gel quickly, they have a good chance of bouncing back to League 1. Stockley’s goal-scoring ability will be crucial for them. However, their poor form in 2024 is a concern and it might take some time for them to regain their confidence and consistency.
