  2. Glad your contributions to this site were read and appreciated by the players concerned,Joe.It makes your efforts all the more worthwhile. You must feel really chuffed.I'm really pleased for all Connected here.
  3. The footballing education of an old man continues.Superb article, thanks Joe.
  4. Thanks for sharing your experience and giving us your view of the game.
  5. Good write up again,Joe.It sounds like a fair result, though not what either side wanted.Playoff place almost out of reach but not quite all over yet and agree with Notts-joe.
  6. Nice ,thoughtful writeup. All I will add is that Notts owe you fans a decent performance and playing away from home the expectancy level will be lower.Still all to play for.Come on both county teams.

    PoN on One - #1

In spite of 1st question(agree SteveMUP)a great idea.Full marks as far as I'm concerned to 2pies and Dan and of course your cheeky self.Looking forward to more.
  8. When I took your brother to see Derby I was a season ticket holder .My mate Dave(Pete's brother-do you remember him)had s brother-in law,Derek, who received 2 concessionary free tickets from Derby as he was unemployed due to illness.Anyway Derek became too ill to attend but offered them to me.The plan was that I would lend Dave my ticket so he could take and sit with his son,Martin and I would take you or William.(the free tickets were in a different part of the gound)As you were only 3 at the time I was reluctant to take you to a match when 20000 plus gates were the norm and fan hooliganism was still common then.I think I took William to 1 night match(v Leeds) and 2 Saturday games(v Southampton and v Liverpool)I was lining a match up to take you to but sadly Derek died suddenly,so no tickets and no game for you. That was the last season I had a season ticket as we bought our current house in the close season and other priorities took over from football.
  9. Your Grandad WOULD have been proud of you and we all miss him.
  10. Sometimes you have to grind out a result, seems like today was one of them days.A win is a win is a win.Still all to play for,
  11. Sounds like Dave isn't impressed with the manager or the way his team is going at the moment,a bit like Notts fans a few weeks ago. I remember The Rams playing Carlisle in 1968/9 and being 3-0 down at home with about 20 minutes to go.We were pushing for promotion to the top flight under Cloughie at the time and pulled it back to 3-3.We went on to win the league.I hope Notts can push on tomorrow and get up nearer the playoffs.
  12. Oh boy, another great post .Thanks Mr Jones.Raddy was one of notts-joes Grandad's.. alltime favourites. When we used to compare notes on our respective matches Raddy was a player who was always mentioned. Thanks for the memory.
  13. As above plus very amusing in places.Re-inforces my thoughts on the game and the impression I got from the interview after the match.Very much appreciated.
  14. Exactly how I saw it,superb write up,absolutely spot on.Congratulations and thanks once again Joe.
  15. Look forward to your answers as well Tony.
  16. Extremely enjoyable as usual. Will never get bored if they continue like this.Looking forward to 2pies answers.

    Italian Magpies

I remember the night very well.We were holidaying between Skegness and Ingoldmells and had gone to Skegness for the evening. You and Cheeky with Jake, Ellie and 1 month old Ava and me pushing your mum in her wheelchair trying to find a venue that was showing the match ,which I think was on Setanta(ESPN)After several failed attempts at various pubs(straight in and out)I remembered seeing a pub down a side street that advertised Setanta,,So me and you ran off(leaving the others somewhat stranded)found the pub and asked if they would put the match on for us..The lovely barmaid agreed and we left her rather bemused, telling her we would return soon, which we did with the rest of our group. With about 5 minutes to kick off we settled down to watch the match, panic over..Then some other Notts fans came rushing in with relieved looks on their faces. What ensued was a really enjoyable evening for all, with lots of friendly banter aimed at yous truly.Yes ,a night to remember
  18. Last played Liverpool in a cup match-26/10/77,Liverpool 2-Rams 0(League cup)Thanks for reminding me!
  19. Don't recall playing Liverpool in F.A or League cup but ,bearing in mind my age and memory, will have to check
  20. Good memory for you.Still don't understand why he was allowed to go nor the circumstances.
  21. He was reliable, dedicated, popular and professional for us Rams in the best and worst of times. He is obviously someone who wants to put something back into football and the community. Another excellent, informative post-Thanks Joe.
  22. Just said it how it is.After any unhappy experience life goes on but so many people get affected. It's up to everyone involved to pull together and try to help each other and for that reason I hope the fund raisers had a very successful day.
  23. Lovely write up again, very informative and keeps me up to date with one of my 'other clubs'.Seems like a fair result especially away from home.It could be a spring board for the rest of the season if only Notts could learn to play for two halves.
  24. Very sad when anyone loses a family member or friend but particularly heartbreaking when it's a young child as you and Cheeky and the rest of our family are only too aware'.She who must be obeyed' and myself have been blessed with 4 absolutely brilliant grandchildren but it doesn't take away all the heartache. I hope Notts fans respond generously! All the best to Dean and Danielle and their families for the future.
  25. Repeating myself again ,but yet another great post. Thanks Walsall fan!
