  1. I believe, realistically, Ruben will likely desire to advance in his career. However, it might not happen immediately. Notts has the potential to provide him with a higher wage and convince him they are building something unique. That being said, I concur with @DangerousSausage that retaining Ruben will be a challenging task. Numerous clubs will undoubtedly be pursuing his signature. One should not dismiss the possibility of a return to the Netherlands or even Ruben's home country of Portugal.
  2. It's quite a novel idea that certain sports teams in the UK adopt: I am aware that some basketball, baseball, and hockey teams are already exploring such options. Notts could definitely consider looking into it if there's potential for benefiting their operations and saving money. While plastic pollution is increasingly becoming a concern, implementing changes that aren't practical would not be worthwhile. Therefore, the key is to carefully evaluate the merits of this idea and ensure that its practicality and advantages are substantial before making any moves.
  3. Would anyone happen to have any tablet recommendations? I am not a fan of Apple products, as I find them difficult to understand. The tablet would need to be able to connect to my PC, allowing easy transfers between the two devices. It would also be handy if it could do the same with my phone. My main preferences include a long battery life, a decent screen, and a fair amount of RAM. I am looking for nothing lower than 4GB and a minimum of 128GB of storage. Ideally, the tablet should be SD card compatible and, if possible, SIM-ready. Are there any suggestions?
  4. Occasionally, circumstances may prevent members from frequently posting on the forum, or they might leave for various reasons. The recent increase in former members and the sad news regarding Who r ya?? You Pies!! has triggered some personal reflections. Which PON members have you been missing lately? For instance, I have noticed that our invaluable contributor @Super_Danny_Allsopp hadn't posted for quite some time. I enjoyed reading his views on games, as he offered valuable insights, made common-sense arguments, and demonstrated a thorough understanding of how Notts played and how they could improve. I also recollect a young lad by the username @weymouthPIE. I found pleasure in reading his tales of football and, certainly, his thoughts on Notts. What about you? Just in case they may be lurking, who do you miss?
  5. When supporting football, some fans tend to focus only on players who are from the same nation as them or who play for a team from their country. However, some supporters have a soft spot for players from different nationalities, even those who have no relation to their country. As a Notts County fan, have you ever supported players from countries like Australia, Trinidad and Tobago, Portugal, Algeria, or any others? Did this happen because of a former Notts player or just because you have a particular affinity for that country? Let's discuss it...
  6. Do you ever find yourself keeping an eye out for ex-players to catch up on how they are doing? Do you have a favourite player that you follow more closely, who used to play for Notts such as Jack Grealish? Further, when they retire, do you make an effort to stay updated with their activities? Let's discuss...
  7. I am certain that we have all encountered football enthusiasts or individuals who have little knowledge about Notts County, which is a recurrent circumstance for me. I assume it is a one-of-a-kind experience for all of you residing in the United Kingdom. I'm intrigued as to how you acquaint people who are unaware of Notts County with the club? Do you have any particular strategies for introducing Notts County to new fans, such as sharing memorable moments in the club's history or highlighting its notable players and successes? How do you persuade potential fans to support a club that may not be one of the most well-known in the UK?
  8. I just wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude to @ARLukomski for taking the time to share their thoughts and opinions with me. I truly appreciate the effort they put into explaining their perspective and providing insight into their thinking.
  9. Firstly, it allows the manager more flexibility when it comes to team selection. With two additional substitutes, the manager has more options in terms of tactics and can make changes depending on the match situation. This can help to keep the opposition guessing and give the team a better chance of winning the game. Secondly, having extra substitutes provides opportunities for young or inexperienced players to gain valuable game time. This can benefit both the team and the player, as they may be able to gain more experience and improve their skills. Finally, having more substitutes ensures that all players can be rotated and given rest if needed. This can help to prevent injuries and keep players fresh throughout the season, which can ultimately lead to better performances and results.
  10. I've often thought about joining Twitter, but the thought of dealing with negativity and hostility has put me off. I don't particularly enjoy confrontation, and from what I've seen, Twitter seems to be like a wild jungle where anything goes. While there are certainly benefits to being on Twitter, such as engaging with a variety of people and staying up to date with news and events, the potential downsides seem too overwhelming for me. The constant barrage of unsolicited opinions and comments can be exhausting and draining, and I'm not sure I'm ready to deal with all of that just yet. Perhaps in the future, I'll change my mind, but for now, I'll stick to other social media platforms that are a bit more manageable and less intense.
  11. I remember that username well and have been wondering what happened to them. May I offer my sincere condolences to all those affected by the untimely passing of Pete. We've lost a valued member of our community, and it's a difficult time for everyone who knew him. I can't help but wonder what happened to @Super_Danny_Allsopp. Do any of you know if they're still active or if they've moved on? I hope they're doing well and are able to find comfort during this difficult time. Pete will be missed, and we'll always remember him fondly.
  12. Since moving to the United States, I have had the occasional drink of alcohol, but for the most part, I stick to water with a splash of lemon. I don't drink tea or coffee, so water is my go-to beverage. Sometimes I'll indulge in the odd fruit juice, but I prefer to keep it simple with water. Back in the UK, I was a social drinker and had a few occasions where I may have had a bit too much. But those were rare occurrences, and I don't miss it now that I've cut back on my alcohol intake. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the occasional drink, but I've learned to appreciate the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, which includes staying hydrated and avoiding alcohol. Well done, @Fozzy mate.
  13. Back when I used to drive my truck, my mornings would start as early as 5am, and I'd spend most of the day on the road with a few stops in between to rest and recharge. Those were the days when I had to hustle and work hard to make a living, and I didn't mind the early start as it was just a part of the job. Now that I'm retired, things are much different. I don't have to follow a strict schedule, and I can wake up at a more leisurely time than before. These days, I find myself waking up at around 7:30am, and to be honest, there's not much point in getting up any earlier. I don't have any pressing deadlines or appointments to meet, and I can take things at my own pace, which is a luxury I appreciate now more than ever.
  14. I am thrilled to hear the news of Jodi Jones' signing for our beloved Notts team! A highly skilled player, Jones is no doubt a valuable addition to our roster, and fans will undoubtedly be excited to see how he performs in his new role. With such impressive abilities as a forward, Jones' presence on the pitch is sure to have a significant impact on our performance, and I have no doubt that he will help drive the team forward. Furthermore, I believe that Jones has what it takes to become even more of a fan favourite, and not only because of his impressive football skills. I anticipate that he will also become a popular figure amongst Notts supporters, with fans eagerly purchasing his name on their shirts and other merchandise. Indeed, it would be natural for a player of his calibre to attract attention from the club's supporters, and I have high hopes for his future with the team. Here's to a fantastic season with Jodi leading the way!
  15. Absolutely chuffed to have Jodi Jones signing for Notts! Not only is he a top-notch player with bags of skill, but I reckon he'll be a massive hit with shirt sales too. It's only natural for a player of his calibre to be popular amongst the fans. Here's to hoping he has a cracking season with us and brings some much-needed success for the team. All the best, Jodi!
  16. Indeed, it has been a pleasure to see images of the National League paper. We can be grateful for PON and other supporters producing quality content for us to enjoy. Anything dedicated to the Magpies is certainly worth our time.
  17. While the Non-League hasn't been detrimental, I'm thrilled we've managed to leave it behind. Our time there could have dragged on, shortening the Reedtz era. Now, we can focus on achieving even greater success for Notts County.
  18. There are no surprises yet, but by the beginning of next week, we may start hearing updates regarding contract renewals. Hopefully, Jodi Jones will sign, and then Luke Williams will be able to bolster his squad further.
  19. Cheers, @Chris, I've now had the chance to listen to it too. It's an engaging summary and serves as an excellent refresher of the Non-League days for those who may have missed out on certain aspects!
  20. @ARLukomski, are these individuals on your list of potential Notts recruits, or are they simply your top choices? While I don't have any specific players in mind for signing, I'm eager to see new talent join the team.
  21. Has this been occurring for more than four years? I wasn't aware. I'll subscribe to the service so I can watch every match that isn't broadcast on television, which will allow me to feel better connected to this community.
  22. I will never be a fan of Forest, as their supporters have caused issues for Derby fans and local residents who don't attend matches. The actions of reckless hooligans in the late 70s and 80s will forever influence my opinion on wishing them well.
  23. I must be feeling my age, but I genuinely enjoyed perusing the diverse activities our members have engaged in outside of football. I may not have much to contribute at the moment, and I certainly don't want to sound repetitive, but I eagerly anticipate sharing my insights in the upcoming discussions. Although I have plenty to attend to at home, I have embraced the role of a supervisor, allowing others to handle the tasks at hand.
  24. Based on the comments, it seems that Ruben's excessive drinking has raised concerns. While celebrating and indulging in a few drinks is understandable, it appears that Ruben might have overdone it. Such behaviour can potentially cause a multitude of issues. It's important for players to enjoy themselves responsibly and exercise moderation during celebrations, ensuring that it doesn't lead to any adverse consequences.
  25. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could kindly summarise the key points discussed during the recent segment on BBC East Midlands. I'm eager to understand the content and context of the conversation. Your efforts in providing a concise overview would be truly valuable. Thank you in advance.
