  1. I agree. With a decent defence, playing the attacking football he did. Albeit in NL. Some question his loyalty. His loyalty is to his family, they lived in Swansea. As a man who worked away from home, he was able to wake up in rhe same house as his kids. No brainer.
  2. Luke Williams and Macca returning to Meadow Lane
  3. I haver no issue with Luke going to Swansea. As a working man who has worked away from home, he had the opportunity to wake up in the same house as his family. No brainer.
  4. If Donny beat Bradford (highly possible) and Wimbledon beat Port Vale (highly unlikely) then Donny will have won the league before they come to Meadow Lane for the last game of the season. If this is the case, then they'd have had a few beers and won't be as aggressive as they will if they need to win.... then we have chance.
  5. Ordinarily, I'd say it's play offs, but every week the results from the teams in the top three and in the play offs change the positions. This week it was our turn to blob it. Others will, so hold the line and keep the faith. Worse case scenario we will be in the play offs. Wembley is a heart-breaking place to be heart-broken, but I'm happy to take the risk.
  6. Matty Palmer plays the way he does because it suits the way the team is set up. Under the Brothers, Notts have a distinctive brand of football. The Notts team is built like a machine to play in a certain way. The purpose of each component is to perform in a certain way, in synergy with the other parts. Critics of this style cite the lack of originality and creativity that some players have brought to the role previously. But this is a team game and the team plays in a certain way under a certain purpose, and by and large it pays dividends. In answer to your question, yes perhaps, allowing MP a more individual roll, then perhaps he could deliver a different style, worthy of MOTM awards as an individual, but the bigger picture would fail. But he is a highly functional cog in a dynamic team. It is testament to his style, his intelligence and commitment to the cause, that perhaps he knowingly does this aware that it detract from the potential he could deliver. Also when certain 1st team parts are not in the machine, as evidenced by DC moving to MK Dons, or Didzy and JJ out injured, then perhaps the machine isn't as good as it can be. But, by and large, the Brothers system has worked. Long may it do so.
  7. what an irrelevant post, sorry, but this serves no purpose than give an opportunity for Maynard haters to vent their spleen.
  8. The way I see it, Montague has been successful in recruiting for Notts using Football Radars data. He can't take it with him. I presume Football Radar will grant those who pay them to access the data, access. I hope Football Radar refuse them access, at any price.

  10. The football recruitment paradigm that Notts have is based on an established, finely-tuned footballing engine. That engine will be set up to play in a certain manner. Should a part break down, it is repalced with a similar part, in this case player. where once football clubs recruited a manager, gave them money to spend on new players. All good if he is successful. But often they are not. He is paid off, new manager is recruited and history repeats itself, with variation versions of footballing style changing with managers. Keeping the football style means that Notts do not have these problems. The recruitment team can work with the data supplied from Football Radar which brings in the likes of Macca, Cedwyn, Reuben, Jatta and now Traore. Apply this to any position at Notts and you'll see how we recruit. Lets once again count our blessing and rejoice that we have what we have. Long live the recruitment team!
  11. Norwich City FC Notts County FC Newport County FC where next .....
  12. Oùr recent return to form has been DC related. I thought Notts would have seen his contract through and allowed him to go on a free. Once the season had concluded. If MK go up and we don't this will be a contributing moment. But then again, I have faith in the Recruitment Team.
  13. Hi all, back in 2010 I purchased 1 of 100 commemorative bottles of whisky celebrating 100 years at Meadow Lane. It's in the loft for the grandchildren. Has anyone else got one, there were 100. Has anyone opened it? Is it a decent dram? I've done a search online and there's no record out there.
  14. With Notts having such a professional set up behind the scenes at Meadow Lane, it can only assure teams like Spurs, that their assets will be properly looked after. With all respect to other League 2 teams, who may lack the set up at Notts, the physicality of the league is a deterrent when putting players out on loan, and can be a concern. But as evidenced with the way Abbott has transitioned seamlessly into the Nott playing system, we can benefit from loaning gifted players from premiership teams who are safe in the knowledge, their asset is well looked after. As the article indicates, albeit speculatively, our track record of assisting premiership teams can only bring mutual, win-win benefits to Notts in the long term. Yes of course, it would be better to have long term players playing, but remember, the Notts playing system comes first, and whoever is playing that position is there because they can deliver whilst in that role. Bringing with them what it is that the premiership team has identified in them can only benefit Notts. https://tothelaneandback.com/2024/09/28/callum-olusesi-could-head-out-notts-county-loan/
  15. Millwall could be signing the likes of Ian Rush, Lee Hughes and Rooney, but they wouldnr be scoring goal. Millwall do not have the creative production machine to get the ball to the forwards. As evidenced with Macca. Goal scorers, even the most intuitive of deadly finishers, need feeding with goal scoring opportunities. Without them they don't score. This is the problem Millwall have. It will remain until they start feeding strikers. Millwall fans are moaning that they do not pass to Macca. That they don't play into his path nor adapt their play to suit him.
  16. But minus £300,000 signing on fee from Millwall.
  17. I'm suggesting the £2.5 million will be reached. £750k up front payment. Millwall pay Macca £300k up front signing on fee, which also accounts for the after tax wages that Notts are liable to Macca for, which means we are not taxed on that money. When Macca plays so many games for Millwall, Notts get another pay day. when Macca scores so many goals for Millwall, Notts get another pay day. Most importantly, when Macca is sold to a Premiership outfit, or gets there with Millwall. Notts have another significant pay day. This is how some football deals are structured now. Also the brother are very circumspect and don't share what is rightly sensitive data. Notts will have several significant pay days to come. Q
  18. The price was mooted at £2.5 million. Then £750,000 cash transfer. Notts would be liable for the remaining three years wages to Macca. This was paid by Millwall as a signing on fee. When Macca scores a certain amount of goals Notts get another significant pay day. When Macca is sold to a Premiership club Notts will have a significant percentage of any fee. Macca left because he wanted to. Can't fault the lad. Good luck. I believe he will play for England. Jatta wll be doing impressions of Tommy Lawton this season as Jodi Jones peppers the box with his passes. We move on.
  19. Worksop Town kitman Ewan Coleman leaves to join Notts County (worksopguardian.co.uk)
  20. yes I agree play offs is the minimum, automatic next then ultimately title winning. Last season we scored the most and conceded the most. We have a new defence and got rid of our goal machine, which leaves the questions: Will the new defence do what it has been brought into do? will we score goals? We have held on to the Assist Machine JJ so in the numbers game we will score goals The defence have been brought in for what we lacked last year and on paper it looks good. The future is unwritten.
  21. I was at that East Fife game. The only ground I've ever been to where there was a huge electrical power station down one side instead of a stand.
  22. So who will be the captain?
  23. Too much smoke out on the internet, for the ML to Millwall not to be true. First the speculation of £2m to £2.6m cut to £700,000 seems way wrong. I expect this will be clarified today, if he is indeed going to South East London. Recently, the rumours of Will Evans visiting the club stands up, if Notts knew ML would be leaving. Evans could be a good replacement. But, its going to be a case of wait and see. I am surprised at him going to Millwall to be honest. Not the best footballing team in the Championship to have an interest in him. But, its going to be a case of wait and see.
  24. Good job England aren't scoring many goals...
