Martin Paterson Praises Winning Mentality as Notts Beat Fleetwood Town
i do really like how martin paterson reads games and i think with time his squad selections will get better, especially with players returning. i try not to overthink what he says in post match interviews, because i have already made my mind up and i may agree or disagree on points. i do respect where the head coach comes from, i do hope in time he calms down on stressing how honest he is tho.

Statement from the owners
i think the statements always tend to be standard and routine, but that does not mean the club should not release them. i would actually like to hear from jason palmer like we did with jason turner, a regular update gave fans something to be optimistic about. palmer tends to get a lot of credit for things at least by the club, without any communication with us and i am sure hes a busy person but his report with us fans should be of high importance. i am glad jatta has extended, i do think he will be gone before the end of his deal but provided we get good money for him it will be fine.

Squad Registration
i cant say i thought there would be any difference from the updated registration, it seemed likely that some needed to go and i am surprise we have not agreed mutual terms for jack hinchy to leave. i dont think he was bad, but he has not been great and is someone we can easily do better replacing.
-
Curtis Edwards leaves
i liked him, i thought he was good but i do agree he never seemed the same. i think he was more frozen out of the squad because the club wanted to inject more pace and thats the one area he is not all that blessed in. hes quick enough, but not all that fast and i think it shows how we need to get the best out of players even after injuries. i hope curtis edwards does well with his next club.

Who's your Man of the Match v Fleetwood?
i have voted for rod mcdonald because i thought he really did shine in defence, some of his long ball passes really paid off winning corners or allowing us to break beyond fleetwoods back line. its good we have a defender who can do this, whilst commanding and organising the back. its not a surprise we are doing better with mcdonald in this type of form.

Notts County Defeat Fleetwood Town as Matthew Dennis Scores Sixth of the Season
i think notts did what they had to do and could have put one of the earlier chances in the first half in the back of the net if we had taken a bit more care with the final product. defensively we looked strong and able to deal with fleetwood, they had a good final 20 minute period where they could have made something more from the game but i left happy with what i saw. i thought we showed a lot of promise and things are picking up.

Martin Paterson Hails Back Line and Second-Half Response at Prenton Park
i felt a bit mixed when i heard the interview after the game, and i wished martin paterson would not keep referring to him as a honest person. the performance was encouraging, and notts did defend well. one mistake which led to their goal, is not undone by the way we responded in the second half. he made the right calls in terms of subs to change the outcome, we were far more organised and direct in the second half.

i think he will only be honest in areas that wont put his neck on the line, so in terms of the players but even his comments after tranmere baffled me a little. just a few strange ways he worded things, and gave praise in areas that did not match my own eyes. i still like him, and believe he will open where possible.

SWEET FA.
@Chris has mentioned this after watching a youtube channel in the past. i never knew about it but a lot of my family have always said the phrase, i dont like hearing it now i know the story behind it. it seems disrespectful to imply that a young murdered childs live means nothing. :(

Do we need another striker?
if we do manage to keep hold of jatta, it would be nice to sign another striker so that we can try to get the most out of the matthew dennis and jatta duo. the signs are very promising and the two could pay off playing together, even if it means one is playing as an attacking midfielder. it would mean we do need a backup, but i think this is the case already. i am hoping we do sign one more even if we manage to keep all our current players. jayden stockley has always done well against us, he looks pretty tool and reads the line well which helps to beat the defence.

Match Discussion: League Two - Tranmere Rovers (A)
i am not saying this to be controversial but i felt if stuart maynard was in charge, the subs would not have been made and the positive impact they introduced to the game would have seen us either draw or lose. martin paterson looked very animated, even after he was yellow carded. i just feel the players responded well and what was a negative setback, became a positive when the changes came on. first half notts was all over tranmere, they looked weak on the ball and just looked like a poor team. notts just needed to access their options a bit more but once tranmere did score, i thought here we go. the fans were superb, the loudest and best atmosphere from start to finish. second half was all mostly notts, we could have had a few more if things had gone to plan but near the final minutes it was nail baiting to see how many chances they had to equalise. kellan gordon near the end had the chance to put some of this pressure off, but slipped after holding up the play. i thought he should have released the ball to matthew dennis i think it was but great to see him on the score sheet.

Who's your Man of the Match v Tranmere?
rod mcdonald for me, he was very good at the back and played some nice balls out from defence which could have paid off better, but he looks like he has always been playing in his role. when he looks like he has never missed a game, it shows how matty platt needs to improve. both are great defenders at our level but mcdonald is taking his minutes right now. thats great to see!

Matthew Dennis and Kellan Gordon Seal Notts County’s First Away Win at Tranmere Rovers
far better 90 minutes and mistakes will happen, the positives are the second half and how quickly we looked capable of taking back the result in to our own hands. tranmere were very poor, but looked okay attacking, defensively i am glad we made the most of how poor they are. i hope we can build on this and start going from here. i was really impressed with jatta and dennis, i really hope they get to play together more regularly.

Another One Missed
he could have been a good fit and even as a short term solution for a season or two, but i guess notts are wanting youth and young players.

Match Discussion: League Two - Tranmere Rovers (A)
im glad someone is confident @Sheffield Pie, because i am nervous and i think its going to be quite scrappy. they have in the past been exactly the type of team to bully us, and up make it difficult. dont get me wrong, i am excited about the game but i dont feel like we are suddenly going to improve our away performance and i dont expect it either. if notts started with confidence and scored in the first half, this would make it easier but defensively i am we are just far more alert than we have been.

maybe martin paterson wants to use it to put pressure on the club by making fans more vocal about needing a striker or additional players? im not saying he has done this, but its a possibility. since he wants players to come in, playing down the serious nature of the potential loss of jatta in the transfer window. it leaves it open, i do agree the door should have been shut. question is, if he said there had been interest in jatta but the injury was real, how likely would you have confidence in the position being addressed? we sold alex bass, and so far have not seen any investment in the squad outside the loan market. kelle roos could improve but what some fans are like, they wont accept him because the club sold someone far better and the comparison is huge. i just feel underwhelmed by some of this season's decisions.
