  1. i think hes 100% correct, i appreciate and love hearing mark stallards comments. i think we just need to work harder in training in defensive situations and work more as a team. every needs to think about their positioning and if someone is marking, ensure that the space is limited. if it means making sure we get players back so be it, we cant keep conceding the amount of goals that we do.
  2. i dont think we need to change anything major, its mostly just focus and team work when defending. we just switch off or make too many wrong calls. aidan stone allowing the first was a major set back, things like that will lower the confidence and its how we respond. i think we had the fight, we attacked well and look good. but colchester knew if they scored, we would take a bit of time to come back with the level of intensity that we can. by which point, we would score and then so would they.
  3. i think his composed interview after the game shows that this time round he's going to give the players a hug, and focus more on the fact we need to work harder in defence. i am confident we can improve in training but it is obvious we need a commander at the back. someone very much like mike edwards.
  4. disappointed but focused on Swindon, if we had played better we may have got something but defensively we need to be much better. proud of our attacking play, jodi jones scoring one of the best goals i have seen away from meadow lane. positives are their and we know the issue.
  5. 5-3, i just dont know what or why we are conceding these slopping goals. their player was not even marked, nobody pressed and i feel for aidan stone because any keeper would struggle with this lack of protection. @Piethagoram mentioned his concerns about the defence and i think hes right. i would say we can be good defensively, but without another strong centre back we may be prone to nodding off like this.
  6. as i said in the facebook group. i think the performance so far is a mix of things, colchester are doing well to keep us quiet and their attacks look very good. they are quick to get into scoring positions. we look like a side that is taking to heart whatever was said after forest green game. kyle cameron is struggling, matt palmer looked like he needed to come off. the things that usually work for us have not today but bostock is on. i think that will make a difference.
  7. yes, i agree with @Joshua. its not so straight forward and despite our league position and squad depth we cannot take anything for granted. i hope we can do whatever is needed to maintain our unbeaten run, yes winning keeps pressure on gillingham, swindon and other teams but we need to go into our next match with our heads high. we need to avoid any set backs, work hard to get the result needed.
  8. i hope for us all in attendance that we can start off brightly and be rewarded with a good result, colchester may up themselves or put their own good display in but we have to have faith in our own strength. it should be a good game and i think the score line will reflect that this is against two good teams. we will have to wait and see if notts can come out better, or if colchester will start to climb the league themselves.
  9. hes been a bit quiet in some games but no doubt a very good team player, if its because hes playing in a role that he has not quite adapted to i dont know but he gives his all when he plays. its nice to see how players think, especially when they have setbacks in their career. sam austin still can go further if he continues to work hard, hes become a vital part of our squad.
  10. its a very sensible approach by our manager, luke williams knows we need to keep our feet on the ground and focus on each game as they come. its easy to become complacent but when you approach things like this, it keeps you working towards the long term goal. i think this season is just as incredible as our last campaign, such great work going on by the club and coaching team. luke williams is the king! ????
  11. i know we said similar with forest green rovers, but colchester are a team in poor form and one that we ideally would win. obviously their position does not paint a full picture but it seems they struggle. it would be disappointing if we dont throw ourselves at them and try to secure a clean sheet, alongside a good performance. i dont see luke williams changing much. our form should help going into the game.
  12. forest green should start improving, he does seem a bit biased and acting like he needs to make excuses. i would not want to listen to him much, luke williams is far more entertaining for good reasons.
  13. i have not known it like it is now, even the one good season in the hardy era was not this good. the fans have really stepped up and notts has embraced the rewards. look at the impact it makes during games, not just to the excitement of attending them. it makes meadow lane bounce and away from home really does feel like we are the loudest. for me the salford game takes some beating in terms of how our support helped on the pitch, it was just an incredible experience.
  14. david mcgoldrick was class throughout the game, he played very well and he did show some pace to keep up with jodi jones. i thought the pass angle would be difficult for jodi to find mcgoldrick but it played through nicely. supposedly he winked to the kop before he scored. that would have been class if true!
  15. tough love i think. we will have games like this and as luke williams says, they were a very good team. the thing is, we need to see the game for what it is. a vital home win that continues our winning streak and undefeated run. that is a very special feat for notts to say that this is our first season back in the football league. we can analyse the footage and try to make improvements, but not all teams will press us like forest green rovers did.
  16. i remember jimmy sirrel attending games back when i first started watching notts but i never had the pleasure to speak or encounter him in person. i do often wonder what he thought of times where notts struggled, like when we were relegated from the football league. plus our promotion and even how things are going now. one of the times i spoke to colin slater, he told me that i would have enjoyed the football that jimmys teams would play.
  17. hello, @Middlesex Magpie. welcome to pon.
  18. hello @Niederbayern Pie, welcome to pon.
  19. he looked like a player that could do a job in the championship, with potentially going onto the premier league in a few years. he did look a very good player, @Piethagoram.
  20. i hope he manages to put his feet up, he needs to retire and just enjoy life without any further stress or pressure. he must have a very sturdy heart having seen many clips of him losing it. i hope he does not have any neighbours because he could become obsessed over every little thing, then end up on that neighbours from hell show. lol
  21. firstly, i hope the fans who experienced heart attacks are fine. this is something i am being serious about. i was talking to a steward about the flashing lights of the ambulance. he told me 3 supporters had heart attacks. forest green played some good football, if we had defended better at times then it would not have been so difficult or something which people would be criticising to the point where it over looks the result. it should not because we were good, two good teams playing each other and that will lead to games like this at times. we may experience a boring 1-0 win, so nobody can win. notts showed their class in both halfs in attack, we always looked like we could get a good move going and put the ball in the back of the net. i think fgr looked less likely to score, but still played well. i am happy with the game as it was exciting to watch. i really hope the fans are okay, thats the main thing.
  22. that is the flw and that other similar in a nutshell. they dont know our club well enough to maintain a flow of good content, so they pipe out things like this. i lost interest in them seasons ago, due to all the clickbait and articles spreading false rumours. false stories at times too, but they get fans support for no effort at all.
  23. it was great to see notts comeback after fgr managed to get on level terms, they played well but we ideally should have finished the second half a lot more straight forward without the worry of them. i think we did get to then go 4-2, then 4-3. i would rather have these games happen every now and then, without worrying or reading into the goals we conceded because it made the day more memorable.
  24. hello, welcome to the pon site and community @Ryan Raynor. thank you for supporting and helping with the upkeep, that is admirable dedication.
  25. i think it should be a lively game but i am less nervous than our previous last 3 home games, i hope this does not come back to haunt me but i feel confident that notts can start brightly and finish with a good result.
