  1. the score is unimportant, so i would like to just see the lads express themselves and treat the friendly for what it is. a good run out. naturally i hope they put on a good performance and if the sides are mixed, it should allow us to see which players do what. a very useful exercise for luke williams and the coaching team. i am interested who will start in rubens position.
  2. he sounds like a great signing that helped us fight against the bigger clubs, he may have moved on but what he achieved at notts is everlasting as his contributions to all the teams he played for. rest in peace, mick vinter.
  3. losing ruben was a blow but i think dan crowley or david mcgoldrick will be good replacements. the new signings give us a lot of depth.
  4. this is great news, we all know what aaron nemane brings to the squad and i think the new deal brings a lot of confidence. also, luke williams handling of this has been excellent.
  5. i think at the end of the day, these changes take away some of the parts which gives a keeper some advantage over the penalty taker, i think there is room to do this but without being over the top. a goalkeeper should be able to touch the net, crossbar and posts. i dont see how this would greatly effect a penalty taker, i am sure it can be distracting but its not as controversial as walking up to the taker or slowly going into goal, then trying to buy some time in delaying it. if the keepers are having limitation applied, i would like to see more stricter rules on penalty takers. you arent supposed to be able to stop when taking the ball, yet some do when they slow do. this should not be allowed under the new rules. when notts played chesterfield, their first penalty taker acted like he was going somewhere else, then turned around and ran to the ball. this should not be allowed as it delays the keeper. basically, i just want to see a fair system for keeper and penalty taker. both of which should have some liberty with their decision before a pen is taken. if one cant, neither should the other.
  6. matt palmer is brilliant, he works every part of the pitch and puts so much more effort into his performances. the graphic shows just how important he is to our squad, he's someone we cant drop.
  7. he knows where we had to improve and has gone about signing good players to fill in those gaps, i think with the players going back to training it does show a lot of faith that hes open to discussing things so early.
  8. please keep posting these from time to time, @Fan of Big Tone. i think its nice to read something to reflect on.
  9. i love horror, i used to watch it with my dad. my mum has never liked horror films, its not the blood or gore but the darkness. shes easily creeped out, so i would watch them with my dad. after they split, i would have regular horror film nights with him. i remember when i was like 10, watching a film about new york i think, it had the underground in and there was murders happening. at the same time the lead character was exploring bugs and insects. there is this boy who plays spoons and i think he has learning problems as i can remember relating to his isolation. i cant remember what its called but it was a human like bug killing and eating people. it looked a bit like the jeeper, from jeepers creepers but a lot more mysterious. final destination, scary movie, i know what you did last summer all great classics.
  10. @Natty thank you for sharing your story with @Chris, i enjoyed this and thought it told a great story of your history supporting notts. the parts about your family and wife, it really made the story standout.
  11. its hard to see how things change over the years, new shops crop up but nothing is quite the same. from the video, i don't remember many of the shops mentioned its all before my time.
  12. it all reads very promising and i hope that he enjoys playing for notts when he gets the chance. i hope either he or brooks will start certain cup games as that could be a great way to see how they do.
  13. its a good thing that he know john bostock, hopefully he will know other players and our style of play should continue to attract players who want to perform football the right way. no hoofing it 90% of the time or performing unconvincingly. what he says really does show that notts has transformed in the 4 years we have been owned by the reedtz. everyone at the club has done a magnificent job and i hope it continues to pay off.
  14. promising, i do think if we get off to a good start that notts can really push for a top 3 finish. the squad we are putting together looks good enough, fixtures are promising. with the right results, who knows?
  15. the write up of the interview is great, it reads very well and captions some brilliant responses.
  16. dan crowley is my choice, i think hes going to be class but all are great signings. i just feel like crowley will be the player that pulls a lot of our stringers and will excite us with his advanced position.
  17. very good news story just posted by @PON_News.
  18. everything about him sounds very promising, i think when you label a player sometimes that just hinders them and makes it harder for them to establish their own abilities. dan crowley looks to be a great signing. hes someone younger fans can look up to as well.
  19. @menzinho i think we should have faith in the master, i think we are going for depth and i do think this gives us the option to try mcgoldrick or crowley in rubens old role. austin may be pushed out wide, but its great to see how strong all these players are on paper.
  20. well done @Fan of Big Tone i am determined to start picking up points myself.
  21. very enjoyable read of our days in the national league, it was a good summary of the ups and downs. i think we grew and handled most setbacks well. whilst improving on the signing front. our first season we did not have the time to spend long in the recruitment department, signs had to be made and whilst they did have time to train we have grown from this point. i also share the same sentiments that winning the playoffs felt better than winning the league. that said, i would like to avoid going behind in two games only to win and going up as champions once again would be nice. though i would happily re do wembley all over again.
  22. brilliant signing, he looks a player on real quality and i think he will give us some flair in midfield. you dont get signed by arsenal without being able to play a certain way, if we can continue playing as we did last season, he will fit straight in and look like a player who has been here for much longer. i am very excited about his arrival.
  23. i am stoked about this signing, he seems a player of real quality and someone notts are lucky to have snapped up. i think he sees the ambition and forward direction in which the club is going. its a very good coup for notts, i am excited about this one.
  24. i think it makes more sense, with his injuries he probably wants to take a step back because he knows that it will help him in the long term. if he can stay fit and do well, he might attract interst or he could be a vital part of scunthrope uniteds revival. good luck to him, i hope cal manages to set the national league north on fire with his performances.
  25. i wished he had the chance to play for a bit at wembley but he was a firm part of the celebrations. his rallying to the players to stay calm, i think helped. i dont think jim could single hardly change the outcome of our relegation but him and michael doyle did make a difference. i am happy that jim o'brien is still here because he deserves to see the club back to where we belong. hes been very important to our journey moving forward.
