  1. Kevin Nolan has challenged his Notts County players to put together another unbeaten run as they seek to finish the League Two season off in the automatic promotion places. Saturday's 2-1 win over Forest Green Rovers means the Magpies currently stand on three games without defeat, alongside victory over Stevenage and a draw with Cheltenham Town. “Earlier in the season when we had a couple of losses we have always gone eight, nine, 10 games unbeaten,” Nolan told the Nottingham Post. “That’s the challenge to the boys now because seven points out of the last nine is a fantastic return. “We probably should have nine out of nine but for refereeing decisions which I am disappointed about. “But we just have to keep looking after ourselves. We have a really tough game this weekend and everybody is looking forward to it. “We will have a game plan and if we stick to it we have every chance of getting 10 points out of 12.” Share your thoughts about this news story on Pride of Nottingham by signing up to the website, visiting the forum and joining in the chat with hundreds of fellow Notts County fans. 2. Notts County have lost their superb unbeaten home record in League Two after fellow promotion chasers Exeter City claimed a 2-1 win at Meadow Lane on Saturday. Boss Kevin Nolan fielded a different-look side to their usual XI, with Richard Duffy and Matt Tootle both sidelined, and a much-changed midfield including Matty Virtue, Noor Husin and the returning Liam Noble. The Magpies fell behind after just eight minutes as a contentious free kick whipped in by Lee Holmes was met by Dean Moxey, who struck the post before the rebound was converted by Jake Taylor. Notts mustered a couple of half-chances as a Jon Stead header from Dan Jones's delivery bounced tamely to Christy Pym and Lewis Alessandra also failing to beat the Exeter keeper with a shot from the corner of the box. However, Pym was largely untroubled in the first half, while the visitors were more dangerous and doubled their lead on 42 minutes through Stockley. The Grecians top scorer latched on to a long ball forward, got the better of Shaun Brisley and found the bottom corner from the edge of the area to leave the Notts contingent reeling at the break. The second half saw Notts grow into the game, but not before several more dangerous attempts from Stockley, one denied by Elliott Hewitt's goalline clearance and the other cannoning off the woodwork. However, the deficit was halved on 73 minutes when Troy Archibald-Henville hauled substitute Shola Ameobi down in the box, prompting the referee to point to the spot. Jon Stead then subsequently despatched the penalty, sending Pym the wrong way, but despite a late flurry of attacks, they couldn't find an equaliser to prolong their unbeaten home record. 3. Mansfield Town boss Steve Evans has praised Kevin Nolan for his great management of Notts County and admits tomorrow's derby is a benchmark for the Stags. The Magpies have soared to the top of League Two after 10 games and boast a six-game winning run in which they have conceded just one goal. Mansfield were tipped to be challenging for promotion but hit a snag in midweek as they fell to a 3-0 defeat at Cheltenham Town. "First and foremost, congratulations to Kevin Nolan; what a job he's done,” Evans is quoted by the Nottingham Post as saying. “He's added very selectively to the group and he inherited a good squad, it has to be said. "People forget that the squad that was put together the season before last was to be a promotion squad. "This is a real tough challenge for us. They're a squad that have been assembled for well over a season, we're a squad that are two or three months old. "I know people want to dismiss it, but those that dismiss it really don't know what they're talking about when putting a squad together and how long it takes. "This is the real test, this is the real benchmark. This is the league leaders who have gone around the country turning win, after win, after win in the opening weeks, so it's a big test for us."
