Notts County have confirmed the departure of Harry Kewell after just 14 matches in charge.

The Australia legend signed a three-year contract to replace Kevin Nolan at Meadow Lane in early September.

Despite a bright run early on in his tenure, performances and results have since slumped, and the Magpies sit 22nd in the table.

“Results have not been good enough and performance levels are a continuing concern,” chairman Alan Hardy told the club website.

“We see no reason to continue with something we don’t think can work.”

Steve Chettle will take temporary control of County’s first team, with the club hoping to announce a permanent replacement ahead of Saturday’s game with Cheltenham.

Kewell, who left Crawley to join the Magpies, departs alongside assistant manager Warren Feeney and first-team analyst Paul Murphy.

Fast becoming a joke. Its the players who should shoulder some responsibility, but as we know, that rarely happens, their contracts seem protected. Hang your heads in shame. Wasn't given a proper shot at it imo, sad day.
